What would you do with a second chance at life?

Would you go back to the same things that you were doing before, or would you embrace that chance and take a new path?

Being the byproduct of a single parent home growing up, I learned quickly that life wasn’t easy and it damn sure wasn’t fair.
I was faced with a choice back then; continue to stand back and watch my mother

When I came across the “Brotherhood of Misfits” series by Khai L. Bayne, I was originally only requested to read Book 2 “Paul” – but I had somehow the feeling that would not be a good Idea so I requested to read also the first book “Roc” – which was the right decision. My review here is equally valid for both books.

You might be able to read them as standalones but the story is very complex and the relationships between the characters are not easy to handle. So I felt that you will need the full

“He wraps his arms around me before pulling my dress up to my waist and palms my ass cheeks, squeezing them firmly, ‘magnificent ass of yours and how good it would’ve looked bent over my desk for a bit of afternoon fun, wouldn’t make you blush?”

4 hot MC stars! This was a pretty steamy read. It was a little different than other MC books I’ve read and that’s not bad at all.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Trying to make things easier for his mother Roc started running packages with his friends one of those times was all it took to get him arrested yet because this was his first offense the judge assigned him a kind of work detail instead of jail time turns out that is the best thing that could have ever happened to him. Working as a bail bondsman is not a cakewalk yet his job leads him directly into the path of Kenika the spicy ...more

4 reasons to read this book
1- Sev
2- Lonny
3- Jinx
4- Sev

While the main focus was RoC and Kenika, those 3 stole the show for me.. of course m/f/m would, wouldn't it? HaHa! Of course nothing really happens between them....yet.. and I think the next book is going to be awesome. Sev is such a badass (p.s.. what is she? Asian or Jamaican?? I'm so confused!!) Lonny aka Eidolon, was a complete surprise and Jinx is my nerdy nerd. <3

Back to Roc and Kenika. I'll be honest, I haven't read much interracial

I am a fan of Khai's and was looking forward to reading her latest book. I had to pounce on this opportunity to read the book.

Roc is a stand up guy. Despite his rocky start, which is understandable, he always means well. He has a great relationship with his co-workers. So you have an idea of what the next characters are going to be like in these upcoming books. Interesting, all I have to say.

When he see's an old friend, Kenika, he is enamored with her beauty and strength. They both are more

This was a very fast paced, sexy, with some suspense, and some dirty talking sexy alpha bad boys read!
I really love the characters. The story is mainly about Roc and Kenika both were dealt with pretty hard childhoods but have bettered themselves. Kenika really kicks butt. She's a very strong woman who doesn't take and crap. She had an abusive ex who hurt her really bad but she's bettered herself and really has turned into an amazing woman. Roc had a rough childhood. His dad left him and his

Troubled youth given a chance to make better choices come together in the brotherhood of misfits. In all honesty, while reading the prologue, I really didn’t think I was going to make it through this book. This first chapter is chock full of Ebonics and I found myself on Urban Dictionary quit often. But I stuck with it and I am so glad I did. Although tough for this suburbanite to read, the voice in this chapter is absolutely necessary to set the tone for the book and luckily the rest of the ...more

4 Crazy Ass Stars!!!

Craziness is what this book is but I loved it. I loved the characters, both lead and supporting. Roc & Kennika story was intense and kept me swiping pages. I'm very intrigued with Lonny, Jinx, & Sev. I found them to be a key part in continuing with this series. I found the lingo/slang to be confusing but I muddled through because I really liked the charcters and wanted to see where the story led. The Epilogue has me itching for the next book.

This book was given to me for an honest review.

3 stars.

This book has some mature themes in here, so if you like the cheery happily every after with no issues, this is not the book that you want to read.

I'm at a crossroads with this book. I liked some parts of the book, but others I truly disliked. I want to say that for reading this author for the first time, I'm struggling with myself on this review because this book, I feel could have gone better. I'm not going to go into the

I really wanted to love this book. After reading the synopsis, I thought I would. It was an okay read for me. I just couldn’t really get into it too much. It felt like some parts were missing from the book. It’s not a bad read, just not for me. The ending does set up the next book. This is the first book by Khai Bayne that I have read. I will check out another of her books. I did really like how the story began.

I really enjoyed reading this story. It kept you on the edge of your seat. I couldn't put it down once I started reading. This is the first book by Khai L. Bayne that I read and it was amazing. I can't wait to read more.

This first book is about Roc (Archibald Rochester) he grew up in a single parent home with his mother, who had to work extra jobs to keep their household going. Roc decided he needed to help his mother out. He was a excellent student and star athlete. He decided to go with a

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book but I was pleasantly surprised with it. This is the first book in the series and I just finished it tonight and immediately after finishing my mind was racing with thoughts of what could happen next in the series. To me this book is all about second chances. This is about a tight knit group of guys that have screwed up in life but each were given a second chance and now they have became a family. This is mostly Roc's story but we get a lot of the ...more

This was a pretty good read. I really loved how it started off but feel like once we started toward the middle it was missing pieces and there were several times when I had to stop reading and think back to see if I could connect the dots. Roc turns to selling drugs when he’s 17 to help his single mother out with bills. When he’s caught and turned over to a tough judge she sentences him to community service and a work program. Fast forward a few years and he’s now working for that same work ...more

Decisions from the past, come back to the present. Paths separated by choices made, but come back to cross unto each other again.

Roc is thankful for his life as it is. He has made a good life for himself, especially after the road he was traveling down. When he comes in contact with someone from his past, he feels blessed with his path he was given.

Izarra has fought hard to provide the life she has for herself and her daughter. The road has not been

Reviewed for Hooked on Books---3 1/2 stars!

This book was a bit different than anything I've read in a while; or at least the beginning was. I think it might have been some of the lingo at first that put me off and made me a bit uninterested. I admire Roc for doing what he did. It's not everyday that anyone would fess up to doing bad sh** like that and admit that it's for their parents to help and that's what Roc did. He dealt in order to help his mom and he fessed up to it in court. That takes

Roc is a good story about a group of friends with various backgrounds, growing into men and finding their way in the world. The dialogue is raw and real, you get a sense of each character by the way they speak, sometimes it's used as a shield to hold back fear, other times it's to cause fear and keep people away. There are a lot of interwoven storylines throughout this first book giving you enough background to learn everyone's backstory. The main story between Roc and Kenika is intense and ...more

This is the 1st book I've read from this author. This book had so much activity I'm having trouble writing this review! When troubled teens are given a second chance and guidance to be better people. Life is about choices and making the best out of whats thrown at you. There is Roc and Kenika's rekindling of their friendship and now romance. Then there is the mystery of Sev and Lonny, they protect Kenika and her daughter. It was well written. It is written in POV form, mostly from the main ...more

This is a dark, fast pace read with great characters and good flow. Roc and Kenika are perfect for each other. His a bad boy reformed and she's doesn’t trust him with her heart, but goes in and steals it and things seem great til the past shows back up and trust is tested. loved looking forward to bk. 2

Growing up in a small town, Khai L. Bayne always had an over active imagination. The only girl in a family with two boys, many of her nights (and some days), were spent finding creative ways to pass the time. Reading soon found its way as the main outlet for the young Khai, but later that love spread to other avenues, such as poetry, and music.
The daughter of a long time “Trekkie” and “Sci-Fi
