SPIRITUAL FORMATION – Th3 Simple Questions are not answers, they are the tools by which we can probe deeply into our life, love, loss, family, and culture. I focused the questions like a lens on a different part of my life, turned the lens slightly, and was surprised by what appeared. This book is an invitation to try it yourself.
Use the three simple questions: “Who Am I?”, “Why Am I Here?” and “What Do I Want?” as prompts for journaling and deep reflection. At the core of faith are questions, not answers. The Spirit that forms the answers forms the one that answers the questions as well.
The writing is an immediate act of composition - free from all rules and artful manipulation. It is intimate and personal, honest and dynamic using unconsciousness creativity – seeking to affirm the Human Spirit.
Over 10k readers visited the blog from January - June 2014. Monthly readership has now doubled - from around the world.

When I am not writing, for the last 10 years I have been a volunteer teaching "self -development" classes at local jails and maximum security prisons. I also do a great deal of "restorative justice" community panel volunteering.

WHO AM I? I'm the guy who thinks he pretty much always has something intelligent to say and I'm the neighbor and friend of the author of this book. I happened to mention that I did a lot of reviews in this venue and he said, "By the way, when are you going to review MY book?" I recalled that he had given me a copy and that it was in my To Be Read pile. I then promised to get to it as soon as possible. So, I'm the guy who put himself in the position of his commitment as a reviewer to be honest no matter what. If the book sucks, it sucks. If it is mediocre, so be it. But he's my friend and I know he's smart and has written lots of other stuff and teaches inmates with impressive results and.... I want to honor him and his work, but... what if....? WHY AM I HERE? I'm here to honor my promise to read and review the book. I thought, since it was only 116 pages, I could whip it out in a day. I am here to say that to do so is to dishonor this provocative and well-thought-out book and the time it took the author to write it and get it published. I could not possibly read this book in one sitting. If I could read and contemplate each entry, each "slice of life" as present by the author in this very unique format which I am mimicking for this review, I could not possibly do it in a day. Two or three a day, maybe. But I am here to tell you it is done. I have read it and will read it again. Little slices at a time. WHAT DO I WANT? I want you to go and buy this book - NOW. It is a worthy addition to anyone's library, but especially if you are thoughtful and self-reflective and don't mind having some of life's quandaries laid out for your consideration and are willing to spend some time pondering what the author offers in any given "slice." I want this book to be a best-seller, not just for my friend's, the author's benefit and recognition, but because it SHOULD be. I want you to put down whatever you usually read, your morning paper, or, perhaps your TV remote (and hit the "off" button) or something you have to read for work or you want to read for escape and PICK UP THIS BOOK AND READ IT! I promise you will not regret it. Highest Recommendation!
'Slice open' says the description. To me that feels like too trenchant a word for essays that are so thought-provoking. They're also well-written, something that, as an author myself, is always appreciated. Plus, there's humour... important for our humanity, and our sanity.
You'll want to own this book so you can return to the various sections to peruse them once again, be intrigued, challenged and inspired.
