One Demon.

One Angel.

One Soul.

Josh lived a reckless, selfish life, so upon his death, escaping the eternal torments of Hell by assuming the role of a powerful, soul-corrupting demon is an easy choice. His first soul assignment doesn’t seem too hard: the mortal Camden is already obsessed with weapons, pain, and torture. If only Josh wasn’t distracted by Cam's beautiful friend, Grace.

Grace never expected to die violently at age sixteen, but now she’s an Angel, responsible for saving a soul. She can already see past Camden’s earthly flaws, so the job should be be easy. If only that handsome, playboy Josh would stop getting in the way.

It’s forbidden for an Angel to be with a Demon, so if Josh and Grace stop resisting each other, the results would be disastrous.

And only one can claim Cam’s soul.

“Inside this boy,” Ms. A. says, “is the ability to destroy everything you know on Earth. But it doesn’t have to be that way. You can save him, Grace. You can save the world.”

This was a YA paranormal romance with angels and demons!

I liked both Grace and Josh in this story, although Josh did seem a little misguided at points. It seemed a bit unfair that he had ended up in the position he was in, and he didn’t seem as evil as you would have expected from someone in his place.

“The point is that you must claim his soul for me. I’ll worry about the rest.”

The storyline in this was good, and there were some twists that I didn’t see coming, which really surprised me! I really wasn’t expecting the twists to be so good!

“There is no undoing what happened. Choices were made. People were hurt. All we can do now is make the best of the situation.”

The romance was good, and I thought that Josh and Grace were really cute together, even if things were complicated a bit by Cam.

“Electricity zaps through my palms and up my arms, sending a thrill through my entire body. Now that we’ve connected, I can’t let go.”

The ending to this was good, and it will be interesting to see what happens in book 2!

SHORT REVIEW:

"Not everyone has your charm, your quick wit, or your looks. You'd be surprised how many things people will do for someone as handsome as you."

should-i-say-wow

This book frustrated me so much. Is it my fault that the gorgeous cover and that blurb made me to expect so much? IS IT MY FAULT? Okay, I finished this book. But this will be short and I'll say what's wrong: EVERYTHING.

No world building.

Awful characters.

Nonsense plot.

Romance that makes me wanna barf.

Instalove gone wrong (they're never right tbh)

And this thing that bugged me so much:

"I know I'm a Demon but that's just wrong"

DUDE, YOU'RE A DEMON!  A DEMON. DEMON MEANS BAD AND EVIL.

9469350

"Why is it my business if he wants to hook up with some slut?"

OOOH, LOOK AT THIS GIRL BEING AN ANGEL AND EVERYTHING.

stressed

And lastly..

"He's my soul mate,"I say. I know it sounds childish, but in our case it's true. Our souls are connected."

giphy

That's it. I'm out.

Sigh. I should have guessed from the cover, but apparently I am a glutton for punishment. This book...where do I start? How about our amazing MC? She is ditzy, naive and frankly a really shitty Angel. She spends more time lusting after a boys than saving souls. Josh was okay, his position was more understandable and Cam was well done in how freakin creepy he was.

The ending was extremely predictable though, and the insta-love induced a lot of eye rolling. Trusting two newbies with the fate of the world was also ridiculous and didn't make sense. Would there not be billions of better candidates for the job? There also seemed to be some convenient holes in the story, but at that point who really cares. I had a lot of issues with this story, but despite my eye rolling it did have an okay concept, the pacing was good and I wasn't bored while reading this, so... all things considered...

My Opinion Of This Book: LOVED THIS. IT'S SO AMAZING. READ IT, READ IT!
__________________________________________________

Okay, so where to start? THAT COVER. It's beautiful, gorgeous, and amazing. But what's even better than a nice cover that looks absolutely incredible on your shelf? When the content inside of it is so breathtakingly amazing, and that's exactly the case with Soul Crossed . I know you guys may be skeptical about picking this up because it sounds like your typical book on angels and demons, but it's so much different. Trust me, Lisa Gail Green sure knows how to put her own little unique twists into a book.

THE GOOD.
The Plot/Storyline: DEMONS. ANGELS. HELL. HEAVEN.
The plot was so good and fast-paced! I love that Lisa isn't afraid to add in those sickening moments (I was so digusted by some of the things Cam did). The darkness of it all just makes the story so much more interesting and real.

Josh: I'm so happy and proud because of all the character growth he went through by the end of the book. I was there thinking: wait, how did he ever end up as a Demon? He made mistakes before he died, and in the novel, but in the end it was like he redeemed himself. He learned and made all these sacrifices. If I had to pick my favorite character from this book, it'd definitely be him. He's totally book boyfriend worthy, just sayin'.

Grace: Grace was a great character. She's smart, determined, and nice. I loved how much she wanted to change people to be good, and how encouraging she was.

Cam: Okay, so I absolutely hate Cam. He's sick, heartless, and just....he disgusts me. But bravo to Lisa for creating the perfect villain. Cam is without a doubt evil.

Forbidden Romance: Yes, it's been done before, it's nothing new. But this one was different and unique because both the angel and demon are trying to claim the same soul. It drove me crazy on who I should root for! I mean, they both had an amazing reason for what they were doing. Josh didn't want to suffer eternal torture. Grace wanted to earn her wings. Who to root for? Who to root for?

The Writing: Absolutely flawless. I applaud you, Lisa. It was so descriptive and sucked me into the story from page one. Lisa is most definitely one of my favorite authors.

The Ending: A few words: SO RAD AND AMAZING. And don't even get me started on that sneak peak to the sequel! I'm dying to get my hands on it!

OVERALL.
Soul Crossed definitely has to be my favorite read of the year so far. And I cannot stress it enough that you guys really should give this one a shot!!

I knew from the second that I seen the cover of Soul Crossed that I would love this book. I love the colors and the font. It a really pretty cover! However, I didn’t love this book like I thought I would.

Soul Crossed is about a boy named Josh who lived his life recklessly and wasn’t the nicest person and a girl named Grace who died violently when she was sixteen. When Josh dies he becomes a demon and when Grace dies, she becomes an angel. They both are sent on a mission to claim the soul of a kid named Camden who’s basically the Antichrist.

Soul Crossed started out really great. For the first 14% of the book, I loved it. Green painted a really cool picture of Hell and her writing style is so addicting! I couldn’t put this book down at first. This is such an easy read and I was so curious to see what would happen next.

Sadly, at about 16% into this book, things started to fall apart. The characters weren’t making any sense and the plot crumbled into a muddled mess. Josh was never a likable character but he became a really mean boy. He degraded every female he seen and he was so misogynistic towards Grace. One thing that bugged me a lot he how he would order food for Grace. Like, she would be sitting right there and he would just order without asking what she wanted. As if she couldn’t do it on her own. He would say things like she’s “such a blonde”. Granted, Grace isn’t the smartest character in the world but Josh made it seem like because she’s a girl, she dumb and not worthy.

Grace wasn’t all that great either. She wasn’t a strong female character at all. She was sometimes so dumb and she couldn’t see what was right in front of her face. She wasn’t an empowering female character at all.

The “connection” between Grace and Josh was so stupid. One page they were just acquaintances and the next page, Grace was in love with him. I’m not even kidding. Green just put in a little “It’s been almost three weeks” and boom. Grace loves Josh. And there is nothing that Grace talked about loving more than Josh’s looks. No qualities that he had, just his looks. It was pure physical attraction and nothing more.

So much was skipped over and not explained. The plot was perfectly fine for the first %14 and then it was so rushed. The writing started to become like a draft and not the finished book. Nothing was making any sense to me. And by 31%, I was so done with the characters and plot. I was trying to push though to find out how it ended because I was really curious but when Camden became a completely different character out of the blue, I just couldn’t carry on.

Overall, I was disappointed by how this turned out. I really wish the characters had more depth and were better written. I’m still reeling over how Josh ordered for Grace (it really made me angry). I did love this book for the first 14%, I really did. But it went down hill so suddenly. I’m always looking for great female characters that showcase great qualities and male characters that are empowering to the female counterparts. Grace and Josh just didn’t do any of that.

DFN at 20%

This book was many shades of awful.
Soul Crossed is about a Josh and Grace waking up respectively in Hell and Heaven. They will be both given a mission, Josh will have to corrupt the same soul Grace is supposed to save.
I immediately disliked the complete lack of a realistic behavior in both protagonists. They both sound flat and monotone.Within the first chapter they accept the fact that they are dead, without ever thinking about their families and friends.

The lack of world building was also vaguely irritating and off putting. We get very little explanations on how both Hell and Heaven work and why are Josh and Grace chosen for this mission. Also we know nothing about the two protagonists other than he's bad and she's good. It reminds of a really poorly written bad version of Sweet Evil,
The setting was juvenile and ridiculous:<

But most of my time is spent in the classroom, learning how to save souls and use my Angelic Powers for good.

And the impeding insta-love was the cherry on the top:

That's no name for a Demon.I guess Josh isn't either, but it's better than Grace. Still I can feel undeniable magnetism between us. I wonder what my new enhanced senses will do for me in bed.

I want her completely. I want her to give in to me in every way, not because I hypnotized her. It's a little unnerving how much I want her, but I figure it's got to be the challenge.

Josh is fun to be with. He flirts with everything with breasts, but I suspect it has more to do with his need for acceptance and love than anything else.

And this is all within the first 20% of Soul Crossed.
Take my advice, don't waste any time on this.

Soul Crossed is the story about Josh and Grace trying to complete a really hard task. When Josh died, he became a demon; when Grace died she became an angel and now they've crossed paths in a unique way.
Josh has to help Cam, their human mission, to become the anti-Christ, Grace has to stop it at all costs. Both of them befriend Cam and just do what normal people to: hang out.
Will Josh succeed or Grace willl win? Now that they know each other, will there be an forbidden attraction? Love? Is Josh more good than evil? Will Grace surrender?

description

Oh my god, do NOT let this book fool you. I might seem kinda cheese, the angel/demon cliché thing but it was reaaaally good. I absolutely loved Josh, for real. Gimme all the hot, tortured soul guys.
This book was way darker than what I was expecting and it was great, I loved all the characters and how they interacted with each other and how they evolved from the very first time we saw them to the very end of the book.

I was waiting for an angel/demon story that could get me in the mood for those kind of books again, and this one just did it.

Grace and Josh were really good and I loved the way Green wrote them but can we talk about Cam?

description

F*cking guy had issues. I mean, he was beyond disturbing. Like, I needed to stop reading about him but at the same time I couldn't stop doing it. When he was with Josh they did bad things, like creepy evil things that were too much even to Josh and when he was with Grace they went to churches and all of that but damn boy was creepy but it made kind of sense, considering the kind of childhood he had but still.

Anyhow, I love happy endings and the things he sacrificed for Grace... cute as hell. I mean, Josh wasn't that evil anyways so it made sense Grace falling for him.

Cute book, for real.

If you're looking for a cute romance with tons of angst and a creepy character, you should really read this one.

PS: This book comes out on my birthday. YAY!!

I've loved this ever since I read it years ago. Like all of Lisa's ideas, this one takes something we think we know and twists it until it becomes something entirely different, something with originality, humor, and devilishly sly tweaks of the tropes. Lisa takes the battle for a soul to a different and hellish dimension here! A fun, fast, and engaging read!

Initial Review:
Ok, so it improved somewhat towards the end, once all the characters were on the same page, but until then it was just frustrating.

Full review can also be found here

The Short Version:

I was expecting something awesomely amazing.

I didn’t get it.

Warning: The Long Version may contain spoilers

The Long Version:

Ok, I had some serious problems with this book.

1. The pacing
It felt like every single chapter took place a few weeks after the previous chapter. It felt like getting random snapshots of the story, without being given the whole thing. It made it very difficult to get to know the characters when we only seemed to check in on them at random intervals.

2. The ‘romance’
So, Josh seems to fancy himself in love with Grace, all the while, he’s still planning on using her to damn the soul of this other guy, end the world, and hopefully cause her to fall.
Yeah, that’s love.

3. The character’s in general
So…Josh decides to become a demon and has to go corrupt this kid into becoming the ultimate evil, and then he gets disturbed when this kid who he is hoping will become the ultimate evil kills animals.
Like…seriously? What did you think the ultimate evil looked like, Josh?
And Grace seemed like a bit of an idiot. Not that I got to know her (or Josh) very well because, as I said above, the pacing was ridiculous.

So…did I enjoy anything?

The ending. Once all the characters were on the same page with who was what and who was damning who I found the story improved immensely. It helped that the story became more evenly paced and less ‘a few weeks later’ at the start of every chapter.

Also the characters seemed to get a fair bit smarter.

However, that was not until the last 20%. The first 80% was horribly frustrating and annoying.

In Conclusion:

The ending almost made up for the annoyingness of the rest of it…Almost. But not quite.

I had a mini debate in my head while deciding whether to join the book tour for this on or not, but I'm glad that my curiosity got the better of me because I enjoyed it.

Soul Crossed is about an Angel and a Demon both assigned to the same person, Camden, a man who is capable of causing the apocalypse. As time goes by, Josh and Grace get feelings for each other, but a love between an Angel and a Demon is forbidden, for obvious reasons.

Soul Crossed is the most unique apocalypse book that I've ever read mainly because it's not that dark. It's a pretty light read, and I found myself enjoying it well enough. I really liked how the story went and ended, and I liked the twist near the end.

On the other hand, what I didn't like about this book was that I felt like there was something missing, but I just can't point it out. Also, there were some grammatical errors here and there. For example, "put if off" instead of "put it off." Another is "You're girlfriend finding out" instead of "Your girlfriend." One more thing that I didn't like was the inconsistency of the information whereby for the most parts it said that Keira was 350 years old, but there was one part where it said that she was 250.

Overall, this book was a pretty enjoyable read in terms of the story, but there were small errors here and there. Although I think that those will be quite easy to fix.

From the cover, you'd think this is one more fluffy angel/demon romance to add to the pile. I sure did think so, but this was one of those times I was pleased to be wrong.

There's something dark about the plot that makes it spicy, and I was actually very surprised to see this kind of story line, since most of this sort of books don't dare dwelve too much in the religious aspects for fear of messing it up somehow.

This story was daring in that sense. There were elements that surprised me, and others, did not. But the ones that did were quite amazing. I've seen there is a second book, but... I think this one wrapped things up pretty nicely. I'm content with this ending and if I pick up the second one, it'll be in a long while.

I loved the cover – seriously, how gorgeous is it – and so I wanted to give this book a shot. Uhm. Well, it didn’t turn out the way I expected at all. There’s insta-love (I hate insta-love), the main character is a total Mary Sue, the ending is predictable, the characters are mostly egocentric and their “love” isn’t real love at all, and the first few chapters consist of several time jumps, which makes it impossible to connect to the characters. Wouldn’t recommend.

First Thoughts

I'm feeling a wide range of emotions based on what I've just read. Contentedness: because you KNOW a book is good when you want to laugh with glee, hug a pillow and cry, and throw it across the room throughout reading it. Sorrow: because I always expect good to conquer evil, but it didn't quite happen this way in Soul Crossed. Rage: because of what happened to Tommy #2, the dog. I'm NEVER going to get over that. EVER . Confusion: because I questioned why Heaven wanted to claim Cam's soul. How could he ever redeem himself after everything he did? Giddiness: because of the sexy, forbidden romance between an Angel and a Demon.

So many feels, guys!

What I Enjoyed

Josh. I'm quite pleased with the last chapters of Soul Crossed. So many times while reading Josh's POV, I'd shake my head and say to myself, "How the heck did Josh end up a Demon in Hell?" A real Demon would never fall in love with an Angel and make sacrifices to protect her! I get that Josh's actions as a human were reckless and Hell-worthy (drunk-driving is NEVER ok!), but I feel he redeemed himself after death. It's hard to hate on him for that.

The forbidden romance aspect. I know it's been done before, an Angel and a Demon falling in love, but Soul Crossed was different in that the Angel and Demon were each trying to claim the same human's soul. It was hard to root for one against the other because they each had so much at stake. Grace wanted to earn her wings to be able to visit the family she missed so much and Josh had to earn the benefit of avoiding eternal torture.

A Quick Rant About Cam

I HATED Cam so much. He did something HORRIBLE when he was younger and you think he was just a kid and didn't know better, but no! You find out he knew exactly what he was doing and he even laughed like a maniac after! He trapped squirrels and rabbits to practice killing them with arrows! Sadistic a**hole. When he upgraded to stray cats, I started to feel an uneasiness in my gut. When a particular scene portrayed Josh burying a stray dog Cam had tortured and killed, I howled with grief. No No NO, EFF NO! I LOVE dogs. MY DOG is my LIFE. I HATE people who torture animals. When Grace gifted Tommy #2, a stray dog, to Cam, I wanted to jump into the book and slap her silly. I hate him. I hate him with a passion. Credit to Lisa Gail Green for invoking my rage. Her writing was that good. Too good when it came to evil Cam.

Cam, you make me want to puke.

"I think evil isn't so cut and dry. Sometimes it wears the face of a friend or an average person. That's what makes it so insidious."

She was killed by a drunk driver. Sent to heaven, Grace has been given the chance to become an angel, but first she must save Camen's soul, the boy who just might be the antichrist.
Josh was the drunk driver that killed Grace, and ultimately killed himself in the process. Sent to hell, Lucifer gives him the choice of eternal torment, or helping him turn Camden to the dark side.
Angels aren't meant to fall in love with demons, especially ones who killed them in their previous life.

Soul Crossed is a very fast and easy read. While it doesn't take much to get into the book, the book itself is very predictable.

I really wish I could have liked this book more, it definitely had the potential because the storyline is very creative. Yet I didn't like any of the characters, and I predicted everything that happened in the book.

Grace is a very sweet and pretty girl. I loved how she was so nice and helpful, but she was also very naive, and an idiot at times. She just kept making mistakes after mistakes, its like she wasn't even focused on her mission half the time, which made me really mad.
I wasn't a fan of Josh as well, he was supposed to be this tough yet broken guy because of his father, but all we hear from him is "wow it sucks I'm a demon" and "Damn I wanna do that Grace girl." His part of the book was just boring.
And the only thing I have to say about Camden was that he is super creepy!

Of course the romance in this book was insta love. And it wasn't even the cute insta love where you're rooting for the couple to be together. No, this was the - I wanna barf - type of insta love. Of course they're attracted to each other right from the beginning, and then they think they're soul mates and care more about each other than the mission they were sent on. Seriously open your eyes people, you're already dead!

Overall, it had potential, but the crappy romance and characters ruined it. If you decide to give this book a try, I hope you like it more than I did.

Happy Reading,

Grace died and became an angel

Josh died and became a demon.

They both have a mission. Josh’s is to corrupt Cam and make sure that he fulfills his destiny. Which is to become the antichrist.

Grace’s mission is to save Cam and make sure that he doesn’t become too dark to save.

Cam has a miserable life. His mom hates him and she makes sure that he knows it.

Grace and Josh befriend Cam. The three of them hang out together. When Cam hangs out with Josh, he does really disturbing things that even Josh can’t stomach, and he’s a demon so that says a lot about Cam.

When Cam is with Grace, they go visit different churches.

So Cam acts and does different things when he’s with Josh and Grace. I kept hoping that Cam would turn out to be more good than bad because I feel really bad for him. I think what drives him to do disturbing things is the way his mom treats him. No one deserved to be treated like that for making a mistake. Especially making a mistake when that person was not old enough to understand what they've done.

Josh and Grace's love story was cute and sweet. Josh really tried to change for Grace and the sacrifices that he made for her showed just how much he loved her.

Being good really does pay off.

My gif for Soul Crossed:

My message to all aspiring authors out there, don't be discouraged when you receive a negative review. More times than you think it's the case of "It's me, not you."

Take the example of my review of Soul Crossed. It's the perfect case to illustrate my point. Soul Crossed has all the cliches you can expect from a YA book and the plot could seriously be more developed. However, the moment I read the first page, I was hooked, line and sinker. I couldn't put it down.

I guess I was in the right frame of mind and Soul Crossed hit all the right spots. The plot unraveled a little bit in the end but I still thought this novel deserved 5 stars.

Soul Crossed was so darn cute. The writing was engaging and the story didn't drag. AT ALL. The concept of star-crossed lovers is older than dirt but if done right it works every time. Everyone loves a Romeo and Juliet story. Soul Crossed brings the ultimate star-crossed couple: a demon and an angel.

You should give it a try if you are in the mood for a romantic YA novel that is easy and quick to read.

An angel and a demon fighting over one soul...

Grace died and became an angel
Josh died and become a demon

And now both both on a mission to win THE soul that would start the apocalypse each to his/her side.

The plot is brilliant! I fell in love with both main characters. Don't let the cover fool you, this isn't a cheesy angel/demon love story... There is a constant struggle of good vs evil, and of finding that last bit of humanity within you when you feel that all is lost.
There is just a lot to love about this book.. and I really love Joshua -- and who wouldn't? a hot guy with a tortured soul, yes please! :D

One thing though, I REALLY need to talk about Cam.. OMG such darkness!! He scared me.. Green did a great job describing and showing just how evil he can be, while being tormented by his own baggage. Cam really made this book a big "will they/won't they" question till the very end!

Definitely worth reading, can't recommend it enough.

I must say that I've got very mixed feelings about this book, I absolutely love the cover which is beautiful and it's the first thing that made me want to read this book.

But I had a little trouble with some aspects of the book. First, the romance is very cliché for me, forbidden love is often used in books and once again we got it but why? Why do we have each time a referring to Romeo and Juliet, the star-crossed lovers. It is so cliché for me and I kind of have read this stuff a lot of times. The characters are also very stereotypes, Grace is a nice, beautiful and always benevolent teen, and Josh is a tormented young man and kind of bad boy.

However, I can not remove the book its effectiveness, I have read it quickly and even if the plot is not completely new, I did have a nice time. I even managed to be surprised once or twice by some revelation.

In summary, this book is fairly standard but I have a nice moment.

DNF at 52%. I just couldn't get into this story - neither the characters nor the plot engaged me enough to want to continue. I hate not finishing a book but I have an ARC list the length of my arm so I can't afford to waste time on something I'm not enjoying. I understand how much work goes into writing a book so I'm sorry that this one wasn't for me. The writing is actually very good, but I'm just not buying the story. It's too juvenile on the one hand even though it appears more mature on the other. It also reminds me a bit of Unforgiven by Lauren Kate, and I didn't enjoy that book either. I never rate books that I haven't fully read as I think it's unfair to try and score something you haven't fully completed.

This book was given to me as an ARC via NetGalley in turn for an honest review

Synopsis: Grace and Josh are both dead, which sucks. Grace is an angel and Josh is a demon, but both are vying for the soul of one guy. Said guy is BEYOND creepy and apparently the anti-Christ Despite their missions, Josh and Grace find themselves inexplicably drawn to one another, only problem is that naturally their relationship can't really go anywhere, or can it.

So, I had some misgivings about this book when I first started it. I've been in a little YA rut these days and the beginning of this story was a little to teen like for me. But after the initial tremor, I began to really enjoy the book and the story, which I attribute mostly to the relationship between Josh and Grace.

What I liked: Josh. Oh boy did I like Josh. He had all the right ingredients I need in a book boyfriend. He's hot, he's tortured (sometimes literally), and he's got swag. I like my book boyfriends with a strong dose of cockiness and Josh certainly has it. His relationship with Grace was really the stand out part of the book for me. I was incredibly invested and interested in how they were going to make their star-crossed relationship work. Outside of Josh and Grace the characterization of Cam (potential anti-Christ dude) was spot on, almost to the point where I was like "Woah, that's disturbing." The fact that he made me uncomfortable says a lot about Green's abilities to develop a character. Despite his crazy, I found myself hoping he'd end up a good guy and help out Grace and Josh.

What I didn't like: For the most part, what I have to say is all positive. I enjoyed the book immensely; however, sometimes I felt like the author was trying too hard to make this teen friendly. Some of the language had me struggling and the beginning was slow enough to make me second guess picking it up. That being said, I'm so glad that I stuck it out.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and if you are interested in the whole demons vs. angels thing than you'll be interested in picking this up. My advice, is grab it and give it a chance even if you don't like the beginning. Once the plot picks up this book is hard to put down. 3.5/5

I am such a mushy love story person. When I read the description for this book, I had to request it. I love the Angel/Demon story. I love Grace and Josh. I love flawed characters who aren't bad enough to be demons or good enough to be angels. Makes me think I have a shot at getting into heaven.
Soul Crossed may seem like an obvious storyline: boy meets girl, boy falls for girl, boy considers sleeping with girl to be with her forever, damned for all eternity....that's how the story goes, right? Lol.
But seriously, this was not just a tale of two lovers. Josh needs to condemn a soul. Grace needs to save a soul. Happens to be the same soul: Cam, a boy so creepy he could be the Antichrist. Literally. He is sick. But he didn't get enough love as a child, he's all alone, blah, blah, blah. When you're sick in the head, you're sick in the head, no matter what happened to you. Grace has her work cut out for her.
There's a lot of twists that make this book, and apparently the series (there's another one available, and I would like to get my hands on that!), something to try. If you're not a love person, then this isn't for you. But if you enjoy some good vs evil and some hopeless situations, surrounded by a real love story that's not over-the-top or cheesy, then I'd give this a go. I only got confused by one part, involving a little dog and his apparent demise. One minute Grace saved him, after he was tortured, and the next moment he was dead, apparently never given to Grace to heal. A little editing snafu is what I chalk that up to. I don't care enough to fault the book...I really really enjoyed it. I hope to read the rest of the series, and see what is going to happen next (I refuse to give spoilers, as they "spoil" the book for others; if it sounds like something up your alley, I'm saying give it a go! And you know I'd never steer you wrong!)
(I almost gave it four stars, but I just couldn't do it, especially when I could barely put it down...school got in the way of reading it cover to cover in one night! I'd say that's a plus for a book in my eyes)

OMG!!! Look at that cover!! It is stunning, one of the prettiest ones I have seen this year. And that is exactly why I needed to have this book of Netgalley. Forever having a soft spot for beautiful covers pays of sometimes and goes wrong sometimes too. This time its been a bit of both really. While i still loved the concept of this book, I just feel like it could have been so much more.

This is the story of Josh and Grace, both have died and while Grace ends up in heaven with the chance to become an Angel, Josh ends up in Hell where Lucifer has a job for him. Unbeknown to them both they both have to 'work' with the same person. Grace is charged with saving Camden's soul and Josh with pushing him over the edge. Working agains each other they will soon discover their attraction towards each other. But how will Camden choose and what will happen when Josh and Grace discover the truth about each other.

The plot sounds amazing and personally i love the idea so much. But it fell a bit flat in places. I seemed to have flown through this book because it was such an easy and short read. It wasn't deep enough to really connect with the characters. But that wasn't my only issue, there was things I didn't like about Josh, in a way I can only hope that young girls don't fall for boys like this. No boy should treat a girl like that. Boys like him just make me angry.

I didn't completely dislike this book, I was on the way to Ireland reading it at the airport and on the plane and by the time i returned home it was finished. It fitted right into my travels and I managed to read it even with many distractions. Its one of those books that doesn't need your full attention and it was nice to read after some heavy books in the past.

It comes to a rather satisfying end with the promise of more books to come. I strongly believe that it is aimed at much younger audience. While I am in general to old for YA fantasy, it has never stopped me from loving it, but this one was just that bit to young even for me?

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of Soul Crossed.

Big thanks to Full Fathom Five and NetGalley for an ARC copy for review.

Soul Crossed was such an exciting novel. I will admit that I am a huge fan of book covers and this one definitely caught my eye, and the story is even better. In a world of angels and demons, Heaven and Hell, seeking to claim the same soul, finding redemption, and.. falling in love. It's a forbidden love between an angel and a demon. I really love a good forbidden love story and this one worked very well.

This book is told from Grace (an angel) and Josh's (a demon) perspectives. Both trying to claim one powerful and lost soul, Cam. It was definitely a constant pull between good and evil, and I kept rooting for Grace to win because Cam's character was a little disturbing to me. You also see into Grace and Josh's lives before they died, but also how they died. I didn't see that twist coming. In fact there were a few surprises when it came to which sides people were truly on. Yep, truly a mental kick.

I enjoyed the interactions between Josh and Grace. It was great seeing them fall for one another, even if it is a big no..no.. to the universe. The ending had my feelings in a good place, but also kind of anxious knowing there is a book two coming.

This was a book that really surprised me. I was actually not looking as forward to reading this as I had other books. But once I started it boy was I glad I did. the characters are raw and real. The writing is well thought out. I like the way the chapters were set up in order to show both Grace and Josh's points of view. Cam is absolutely a terrifying character. He is the person that people shy away from because he just sends out those vibes. I was not expecting a book (certainly a YA book) about angels and demons to go to such depths of human darkness but it did. And it was well done. It wasn't just for shock value, everything was written with intention with a purpose. This is a truly amazing book.

When I first got this book, I grabbed it for the Romeo and Juliet concept. It looked interesting and had that whole forbidden love going on.

From the first page, I knew that this wasn't going to be just your ordinary young adult paranormal romance. You think there is going to be a love triangle, but you would be wrong.

The characters were flawed but still had a strong sense of morality to them. The dynamic between Grace, Josh and Cam was well orchestrated.

I was holding on until the last page, wondering how the author was going to bring the story together. Let me say, she doesn't disappoint. The book was fun, exciting, and refreshing.

Overall, this was a great read. I recommend it for all lovers of the genre. Soul-Crossed gets five glittery stars for its fantastic story!

I liked both the main characters in this, although it took me a while to warm to Josh.

This was an enjoyable read, and I'm looking forward to reading book two.
