Bachelorette for Sale by Gail Chianese
1st book in the West Side Romance series. Contemporary rom com.
Former reality TV star Cherry Ryan is focused on helping the community center raise money. Although she wants to stay in the background she ends up agreeing to be auctioned for a date. Both Cherry and Jason have trust issues having been burned in the past. But chemistry outweighs their hesitation and the two start a relationship. Problems around his construction company add complications to their lives.

I loved the grand gesture at the end but until that point, I wasn’t really a fan of Jason.

Don't you just love a good auction? :P

description

Well that's certainly what Cherry wasn't thinking when her best friend Tawny convinces her o participate in the singles auction they where co-chairing to raise money for the youth center in their neighborhood. A last minute no-show and Cherry has to relive being in the limelight and fearing the humiliation once again. As a former contestant in 2 dating reality shows she has had enough spot light and humiliation to last her a lifetime and just want's to blend in the background.

What she didn't expect was to be "bought" by a handsome guy for his even more handsome friend, Jason Valentine...and after a great date that finished with a awesome kiss she finds out that Jason only wanted to win the bid for the center’s renovation and not actually date her or anything more.

description

From that point on we get to read a beautiful story filled with rediscovery, a little mystery and (thank God!) no instalove crap...and of course all is well when it ends well :P

Cherry was a contestant of a reality show, Finding Mr. Right, before she was humiliated by the man who was supposed to become her fiancé in that show. She was basically persecuted by tabloids for months afterwards. Now, trying to leave that behind, Cherry is determined to help building local community center and volunteers her time with that project. It is a project that is very dear to her heart. On a fund raising night, she finds herself replacing a radio host (albeit rather involuntarily) and being auctioned.

Jason Valentine owns a small construction company specializing in residential and commercial remodeling and repair; he is putting on a bid for the community center job. He attends the fund raising night with his friend/business partner in order to get an edge to win the project. He ends up winning Cherry on the auction when his friend is doing the bidding for him.

I felt bad for Cherry most of the time. She has had a hard time with that reality show and it seems that everyone wants to shove that fact into her face. The media sure digs it up over and over again. I thought Cherry was strong, trying to take the focus on the project instead. But damn, I wanted to kick some of the reporters' asses FOR her!! Give that lady a break!! Yes, see, I was angry for her. Not like people knew what really happened!! I wish Cherry would fight back against those accusations but then again, sometimes people will believe what they want to believe. And they want to believe the version given by that male contestant.

Jason was okay, I guess. I didn't 'like' him as much as I did Cherry. I just didn't find him that intriguing. He is just another guy who got burned in the past when her ex cheated on him, and he hesitates when it comes to long-term commitment. Although I have to give points for Jason's grand gesture in the end.

I admit, the whole reality show related things dragged the story a bit, but then again it shaped Cherry as a character and became a vehicle for the conflict and resolution. There was a slight mystery involved, when a certain party seems to be sabotaging Jason's work. However, I thought it was too predictable because of the animosity that one character has been portraying since the very beginning (which of course, didn't surprise when this character was involved).

This was a nice start of a series. I might be interested to read the next book, which will feature Cherry's best friend and Jason's friend/business partner.

Cherry Ryan was all about setting up events to raise money and decided to auction off bachelors and bachelorette dates for charity. When one of her contestants disappears moments before the bid Cherry is forced onto the stage and sold to Jason Valentine.
Cherry tried looking for love on reality TV shows which turned her perfect reputation into a lie and made her afraid to open up her heart to a chance at love.
It turns out Jason Valentine wanted to seduce Cherry in hopes of getting a contract bid to build the shelter that Cherry was on the board for. What neither of them expected is to find eachother and deal with the wrath of those around them sabotaging their every move closer to love and closer to a childrens shelter.
What keeps this gem out of the overplayed theme is that there is no instant happily every after it’s a love that happens naturally and we all relate.
The way this series looks is that there will be individual stories and can be read as standalones.

Sweet and sexy book. The story is about Cherry a former reality star darling humiliated in the tv by her former fiance, she has to filled up auction spot in a charity function for the town recreation centre. In come Jason, owner of new coming renovation company on the bid for the contract. In order to get ahead, his partner win him the date with Cherry in the auction. Assuming Cherry is a ditzy reality star, their first date tank middleway. As they get to know one another, he realised the depth of her compassion and sunshine personality that drown him to her. Of course the story behind Jason winning bid broke her trust in him, but there is no denying the chemistry they have. With several accident happen during the town centre renovation, causing the foundation board to lose money and time, can they both moved behind the past and trust issue and looked for a better future?

Love both the main characters, the humor on their first date, crack me up. THe secondary characters filled up the story and bring about the main couple. Cant wait for the next book by the author, about Jason's partner and Cherry BFF perhaps?

I plan to keep this review short and sweet. Bachelorette for Sale gets a shining 4 stars from me for the easy to read story line, the easy to love characters, and the laughter the book causes. Cherry is a fun and sweet heroine who is trying to make a difference by ensuring her local recreation center is fixed and back in working order. Jason is rough around the edges and sweet hero who wants to be a part of restoring the recreation center by landing the contracting bid. The two go on a date after Cherry is auctioned off and, even with less than desirable circumstances arise, the two end of liking one another. The story focuses on Cherry and Jason's relationship with each other as outside forces attempt to drive them apart. I liked it, plain and simple.

Cherry Ryan is a former reality TV star on Finding Mr. Right. Her former fiancé(from the show), humiliated her publicly and she just wants to stay out of the limelight. When she heads a fundraiser auction for a charity dear to her, she's forced to be auctioned herself after a person doesn't show up.

Jason Valentine owns a small construction company specializing in remodeling. He plans on putting in a bid for the community center job. When he attends the fund raising night with his friend/business partner to network for the project, he ends up winning Cherry in the auction after his friend won the bid for her.

Both have preconceived notions about the other when they go on their auction date. Once they settle in though, they actually have some chemistry going on. He is drawn to Cherry and her compassion for life. But things go awry when she assumes the only reason Jason won the auction was to get a shoe-in for the community center bid. She doesn't like being used!

This is a very sweet romance about normal every-day people. I felt bad for Cherry because the tabloids were incessantly after her and dredging up story after story. She tried so hard to stay focused on the community center and not let them get to her, but they were winning the battle. I wanted her to fight back against the accusations. Maybe if she had, they wouldn't have assumed she was a pushover and left her alone. Jason was a bit hard to warm up to. We don't really know his history except being badly burned by an ex. I wanted to know more about him.

All in all I liked the story, but felt the reality show stuff really was overdone, and the mystery of the job sabotage seemed thrown in at the last minute. It ended up being totally predictable so it seemed a little unnecessary to the storyline. Bachelorette for Sale is book one and a good start to the West Side Romance series. I look forward to book two featuring Cherry's BFF and Jason's business partner!

Bachelorette For Sale

This story was gifted to me in exchange for an honest review by Net Galley.

Cherry Ryan has had a rough couple of years, she was publicly humiliated on a reality dating show and the whole country saw it. But know she has settled and she has a goal, fund raising for the local community centre. This place has a special place in her heart as she spent much time there as a teenager. This is how she finds herself on stage and the object/prize of the auction.

Her “date” of the evening Jason Valentine has an anterior motive for buying a date with her. He wants her to look at his company's bid for construction on the centre. Fortunately the date goes better than either one of them predict and he does not bring up the real reason. Unfortunately, Cherry figures it out when presented with the offer a few days later.

His company does get the contract, they had the best bid. Cherry and Jason do continue to spend time together and get to know one another just a little bit better.

But of course there is bound to be problems. There is trouble on the horizon, for both the couple and the project. No other spoilers will be given. The author did a great job building up the mystery, and building up the romance between the two of them. It was an easy read and I found all the characters very likable and easy to relate to. I really liked the characters of her grandparents and they provided lots of laughs as they have some criseses of their own.

I enjoyed every page of this story and would recommend it to all readers that like a good romance with a bit of mystery thrown in. I would rate it 4/5.

*I was given an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review*

Cherry Ryan was a twice-contestant on a reality dating series and had been burned by the experience. She meets Jason Valentine after he wins her at a charity date auction. Their relationship (and problems) ensues from there. I loved the premise of the Bachelorette for Sale by Gail Chianese. I will admit to being a fan over the years of the popular reality dating shows on tv and of following the lives of the contestants like they were my own friends! This book gave a sort of sneak peek into that world.

I loved that all of the characters were extremely ‘real’ and very likable. They all had flaws and very honest reactions to the things going on around them. The romance and relationship was a nice slow build. It didn’t have that insta-love feel that is prevalent in books these days. There definitely was some heat mixed in with the sweet!

Ms. Chianese also built a strong cast of secondary characters that really added depth to the main story. From Tawny (Cherry’s BFF) to Cherry’s nutty grandparents to even the dogs, there was always something funny going on.

I often read very intense, angst-y books. Bachelorette for Sale was such a breath of fresh air. While there was conflict and a bit of a mystery, the story itself was an easy pleasant read. I can imagine sitting on a beach, sipping a margarita, re-reading this fun romance. I can’t wait for Tawny’s story next!

I received this book as an ARC from Net Galley for my honest review

Cherry Ryan is a woman on the run from her past. What started as a search for true love ended in disaster...a disaster that no one will forget because it was televised! Attempting to use her fame to help the children in the neighborhood, she helps to throw a charity auction to rebuild a community center. When someone cancels on her she has no choice but to step up to the auction block being sold for a date.

Jason Valentine turns around for one second and his business partner buys the undeniably sexy Cherry Ryan. His partners plan is that Jason goes on the date so that he can sweet talk her into using their company to fix up her community center.

When the truth is revealed Cherry is left wondering if Jason is the real deal or will her heart be broken as it was in the past. I guess you will have to read an find out!

I LOVED this book, the funniest parts where with Cherry's grandparents! I don't know what I would do if I was in Cherry's position when it came to Jason or men in general. I love that Gail Chianese did not make Cherry super bitter or a snob; she was instead very funny, she was caring, and she was overall a great person.

Now I must admit that at times I found the book a little bit predictable but I still enjoyed it. I am dying for the next book, I have to know how things will play out. This is definitely a great book for a great price.

Good Read, Good Characters **I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review**Cherry Ryan had put on a fundraiser that had taken the better part of a year. It was to help rebuild her neighborhood community center. Last Fall it had been ravaged by a hurricane. it had been a staple of Cherry's childhood. Cherry's best friend was Tawny Torres. Cherry had to take the place of a person who was sick and be bid on for a date. Cherry had been on a t.v. show Finding Mr. Right and had gotten hurt. Then she met Jason, who'd won the date though his friend had done the bidding. He owned a rehab company and wanted the contract for the community center.Cherry was someone, even after being hurt, that believed in love and marriage. She was caring and giving. She loved both her family and adopted family. She could be determined and through the twists and turns of this story, stood up for what she wanted and found love. Jason was a good man but had a lousy childhood. He was hardworking. He had been hurt deeply from a broken engagement, but also from the peoples' marriages he'd seen around him growing up. He also could be determined and through the twists and turns he also found love.I loved the characters, the story, and the plot. It dragged a little in some places but I'd still recommend.

I got an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This book lives up to the promise of its title: playful, sweet, sexy and fun. Cherry and Jason are well-developed characters with interesting backgrounds and obstacles to overcome. I like the relationships each of them has with their friends, and particularly love "Cherry Bear" and her grandparents. Those scenes are warm and fun. Actually, those words also describe the overall story.

Since everyone can read the cover blurb and get the gist of the premise, I don't need to recite it here. Suffice to say, from the opening, you will be treated to a host of dynamics with all of the characters, as well as the intrigue of the "who is the saboteur" element of the story.

In terms of the romance, while the initial things keeping them apart are based a bit on misunderstandings and secrets, ultimately both Jason and Cherry have to learn to overcome their own fears, based on hurts from the childhood which became compounded by their former loves, in order to truly be together. In the end, the both make a bit of a grand gesture, which makes for a satisfying HEA.

Great debut...and I anticipate the rest of the series will only get better!

Full disclosure: I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I love a good reality TV romance, and this was a good reality TV romance. Cherry was humiliated on a reality dating show, and the last thing she wants is more time in the public eye. But she'll suffer through a bachelorette auction if it helps raise money for the local community center that meant so much to her in her youth.

Jason owns a construction company, and he's at the auction to get an edge on the bidding for the center's big renovation project. But he gets more than he bargained for when his friend and business partner wins Cherry in the auction for him.

Cherry and Jason had great chemistry, and both had inner demons to conquer. The writing is tight, the plot well paced, and the characters engaging, making the whole package and enjoyable read. I look forward to the next book in this series, which is well set up with the secondary characters here.

Characters with strengths and weaknesses that made them all the more real, and a sweet romance with just the right amount of heat made this story one of those that I read in one sitting. Cherry and Jason's romance, and the obstacles that seem to crop up along with a mystery to solve - all this keep the reader turning the pages. I loved the supporting characters (Cherry's grandparents and the friends of the main characters whose stories I am looking forward to now). While I wanted to rate it higher, I felt that the story dragged a bit around the references to the TV show (though it is one of the main shaping factors for Cherry's current predicament and personality).

Cherry Ryan and Jason Valentine are the most adorable book couple. Cherry is a former dating reality star who was looking for love in all the wrong places. Jason is a construction company owner who has sworn off love. Together they make a wonderful pair. This is a delightful, easy read that had me laughing to myself. I enjoyed the characters and their families very much. This is another book with a strong grandmother who kept me smiling, in fact I loved the grandparents story in this book almost as much as the main characters. This is a debut novel for Mrs. Chianese and I am very excited to read more of Tawny and Davids story.

3.5 stars. This is a cute, fun contemporary that plays with the less fun side of minor celebrity when Cherry becomes a last minute replacement in a charity auction. I really liked Cherry, she’s down-to-earth and funny and sweet, not to mention charitable and loyal to her friends. After the things said by her disastrous ex she’s been badly treated by the press and I have to admit I wanted more vindication for her over those nasty things that Ari claimed.

Then again, with so much going on in her life, Cherry’s mind is rather on other things: whether it’s the intriguing life of her wonderful grandparents, the prospect of a new reality TV show - which she doesn’t want to do but knows the money would be good for… - rebuilding the community centre and - which is very important to her as it also ties in with… - the new man in her life, the sexy, occasionally arrogant but surprisingly romantic Jason. No wonder she doesn’t have time to worry about what a bunch of worthless journalists are spouting about her.

With Cherry’s life so full, this book zips along with never a dull moment as she bounces around her various relationships and tries to do her best by everyone. I really liked her. I liked Jason too, well, as much as we got to know him. He’s a bit of a tough nut to crack, if I’m honest. The details of the damage done by his ex are delivered in dribs and drabs, and we never quite get the full picture there, and although we learn a bit about his childhood, again it’s all delivered in tiny portions. However, barring a few minor hiccups here and there, he treats Cherry wonderfully and does some lovely, thoughtful things, so on the whole I liked him.

Mostly this was a fun read, though I have to admit I felt like the vandalism plot was too obvious from the start, while the reality TV side felt a bit too convenient. For most of the book it bubbles around, causing stress and potential strife, before taking over everything in a slightly unconvincing way. I also expected a little more about Cherry’s parents and maybe a little more retribution for certain liars. But on the whole these were minor feelings compared to my overall enjoyment.

Fun and cute with likeable characters, an interesting plot and lots of lovely potential for more from this setting. If this is only Gail Chianese’s debut, I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.

Sometimes a little mindless TV is exactly what I need for some instant stress relief. In my quest for seeking a dose of brain bleach, I became a devotee of The Bachelor/Bachelorette reality TV series and remain a fan to this day. So it was only natural for me to request Bachelorette for Sale, a novel that closely resembles some of the themes of this very popular TV show. This is a fun read with some great characters and a plot that kept me entertained from start to finish.

It's been almost a year since Cherry Ryan was humiliated on National TV, and the snide comments and bad press continue to be a thorn in her side, even in her hometown. And now because the star of their fundraiser has come down with food poisoning, she is up on the auction block, strutting her stuff for her beloved community center. Luckily, there is someone who wants a date with her and wins with a respectable offering. A gorgeous and arrogant contractor, Jason Valentine, is her date. Their beginning is rocky, due to Cherry's volunteer position on the community center's board and Jason's bid and subsequent approval to renovate the facility. Many obstacles are in place to prevent their happiness, including their mutual commitment issues, the media, and vandals who continue to disrupt the renovation process. Luckily, their love is what keeps them together.

What a terrific debut for new author Gail Chianese! This novel is chuck full of excitement, angst, and a love story between two people who really belong together. Cherry and Jason know what it is like to be unloved and this commonality is the foundation of their developing relationship. Their chemistry is hot and Ms. Chianese certainly creates passion both in and out of the bedroom. The author does a fabulous job of depicting The Bachelorette TV show and has Chris Harrison's character down to a science. Cherry's grandparents are a real trip and their love life was comical at times. The remaining secondary characters add a lot of depth to this story. Overall, this is a solid read that twists and turns in all the right places. I am truly looking forward to the next book in this series, Boyfriend for Hire, starring Cherry's best friend Tawny Torres.

The last thing Cherry wanted was to be thrust into the spotlight again. She’d been there and had the heartache, embarrassment and unfortunately the reputation – and wanted nothing to do with it ever again. She was happy in the background and intended to stay there. But she would do just about anything to help rebuild the community center. She knew what a lifeline it could be firsthand. So she stepped into the spotlight again and prayed it would be over quickly.

Jason’s construction company was bidding on the contract for the work on the community center. He had the proposal, now he just needed to get it to the right person on the committee. What he didn’t expect was for his friend and business partner to bid on a date with the infamous Cherry. Sure she was a knockout, but he’d been there before and had no intention of dealing with the type of woman he believed Cherry to be. Yet, the company needed that contract and maybe going on a date with Cherry could make that happen.

Bachelorette For Sale was such a fun story. We’ve all watched at least one reality show, right? And we’ve wondered what really happens there – well we get a bit of that from Cherry’s experience. Because of that experience, Cherry brings some unique details into this story. I enjoyed Jason and Cherry’s story very much. Plus the suspense of who was trying to sabotage the project added a bit of mystery to this love story.

If you are in the mood for a delightful, fun and entertaining read I would highly recommend Bachelorette For Sale. You will find a couple who obviously belong together, but they will have to overcome some misconceptions before they reach their happy ever after.

Cherry has had it with men and she is ready to just live life and enjoy the small thing right now with out adding guy or relationship in her life. First and foremost she wants to get the center up and going and keep her grandparents from killing each other, but it seems that the world and her best friend/sister has other plans, will she be able to follow through and deal with what else was in store or will she have to walk away and learn to love again in another time in her life? Jason has about had it with having to deal with everything being so much hard then it needs to be. He is working really hard to get his business off the ground but it seem that other people have plans and he is ready to loose it. He is also ready to kill Dave a slow and painful death he doesn't need him medalling in his personal life right now and when he get caught off guard on his way to impress the people who could make or break his business.
I thought this book was a fun read over all. There was parts in the book it really had you guessing what was going to happen next and have you on the edge of your seat and turning the pages wanting to find out. There was a small and I mean small part where it dragged for a few pages but not so bad it took away from the story or the book it self. I really enjoyed the fun in the book and the over all likeness of the characters. you really can not go wrong with this book. I will say about 3/4 away through I kept hoping that there was going to be a sequel to this book I was glad to see there is can't wait to read more about these fun friends.

Cherry Ryan a reality star from dating show, comes back to her home town and starts her life again. She really wanted to bury all her reality show behind her and start her new life by building community center. During the Gala, she becomes substitute for live auction. Jason's best friend David bids on Cherry and that's when story starts to pick up.
She was just expecting a nice dinner but it was more than she expected. Jason was starting a new construction company and his company needs a boost and David also his partner thought this would be perfect opportunity to win the construction job for the center.
Both suffered some damages from their previous relationships. They had difficult time committing to each other. They were hurt before and afraid. Josh's upbringing and his ex-fiancee did some number on him. He did not really believed in marriage.
Plus, once Josh started worked on construction, there were numerous vandalism. they had wonderful chemistry but they couldn't take a leap. Josh only wanted both to move in.
I loved her grandparents. Their secrets and how they made it work for them. It was so fun to hear grandma finally getting her way at the end.
I was very please with Josh at the end when he went to get Cherry.
After reading Cherry's story i can't wait to read about Cherry's friend Tawny and David. All her friends had spunk and can't wait to read about them.

It was perfect for summer reading.

**I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review**
Cherry Ryan had put on a fundraiser that had taken the better part of a year. He owned a rehab company and wanted the contract for the community center.
Cherry was someone, even after being hurt, that believed in love and marriage. He also could be determined and through the twists and turns he also found love.
I loved the characters, the story, and the plot. It dragged a little in some places but I'd still recommend.

I have been waiting impatiently for this book to be delivered to my Kindle. Let me tell you, this book was worth the wait! It has a super-fun premise: Cherry, a former bachelorette reality show contestant, tries to fade into the obscurity of her nonfamous life in Providence, Rhode Island, until she reluctantly agrees to participate in a charity auction to save her beloved community center. Jason, the adorably hot contractor who bids on her for a date, has an agenda of his own: he desperately needs the contract to renovate the community center Cherry is so passionate about. Despite their conflict with each other, these two are a Providential match, and when the sparks fly, they fly big, culminating in a very satisfying conclusion. I only wish this weren't a debut so I could buy more Gail Chianese books. This is a very promising new author and I will be anxiously waiting for the next book in the series.

A funny and heart-warming book about the reality of reality stars. Cherry's stint in the limelight left her heartbroken but didn't break her spirit. All she wants to do now is lay low and give back to the community centre that was so vitally essential to her sanity in her early years. Jason is from the wrong side of the tracks and has worked hard to rid himself of the label he's carried all his life. Getting the contract for the renovation of the community centre will help immensely towards establishing his company's reputation.

Both these characters have had a hard life in some way or the other but where Cherry is optimistic Jason is wary and surly, but together they seem to complement each other. Trusting each other is another issue altogether and that causes a few problems. Giving each other a chance to prove themselves is what this book is all about.

These days, TV is filled with 'reality' shows dedicated to finding love for their contestants. Other than money, love is probably the only other motivation for the people on these shows. With such a large TV audience, it was finally time to read a book about the same process.

Bachelorette for Sale was a sweet love story about a former reality show contestant and a contractor. The main characters were likable, as were the supporting characters down to their pets. The storyline kept you engaged, although it was slightly predictable. If you're looking for something that will test your brain look elsewhere as this novel is meant to be read as a light, quick read while relaxing after a hard day at work. And in that aspect, it succeeds.
