Hazards #4

The Hazards of Sleeping with a Friend

Rate this book
Sleeping with a friend might change your life forever. Sleeping with Kyle was never in the plans. Pretending to be his girlfriend was one thing, but letting our relationship become anything but platonic was another. The problem with mixing friendship with sex is that inevitably feelings get involved, and when that happens there's no turning back. When Kyle's life fell apart around him, I needed to help, but doing that meant opening myself up to the most terrifying thing in the world—falling in love. *New Adult Romance*

The Hazards of Sleeping With A Friend is a pretty straightforward standard book that was sweet, cute, funny, light, and fun romance. Two friends who clearly have feelings for each other and yet they don't cross that invisible line. Jade has a crush on Kyle, but she doesn't do relationships. And she knows if things end badly, it would ruin their friendship. Well when Kyle's mom expected him to bring "his girlfriend" to their family outing, he had to ask his friend, Jade for a favor to be his pretend girlfriend. Well, we all know that will lead to one thing...HOOKING UP!!! It was inevitable for these two to cross that line of friendship when all it took was one hot kiss. Soon Jade and Kyle finds themselves having hot sex and can't keep their hands off each other. Feelings of love soon begins to bloom. Will Jade and Kyle finally admit that they have strong feelings for each other and change their status to boyfriend/girlfriend? Or will they only stay in the friend zone?

This was my first time reading a book from Alyssa Rose Ivy and I have to say this book was what I needed. It was light, fun, sexy, and sweet. Plus, I am a big fan of friends to lover stories. For all you sweet romance addicts, this book might be the book for you.

The Hazards of Sleeping with a Friend follows the story of Kyle and Jade. Jade has always had a crush on Kyle, but never planned on acting on it. One night, a friendly conversation gave way to an unlikely proposition, one that Jade never planned on accepting. As fate would have it, things are about to get more interesting for Kyle and Jade. Thanks to Kyle’s brothers meddling, Kyle is now forced to vacation with his family and bring his girlfriend along. The only problem, he doesn’t have one. He’s always had more than friendly feelings for Jade, so she is the perfect person to ask to be his fake girlfriend. However, pretending to be in a relationship when real feelings are involved is a lot harder than it seems. Will Kyle and Jade give into their feelings and take a chance on building something real? And when tragedy strikes, will Kyle lean on Jade or push her away? Will they open themselves up to the love that is right in front of them or will they be over quicker than they started??

The Hazards of Sleeping with a Friend was such a great read. The idea of a pretend relationship was so fun. This story was well written and you could feel the chemistry between Kyle and Jade from the beginning. It was so fun watching the two of them interact. I loved their banter. They connected so easily together. I just couldn’t wait to see where their relationship would go. You knew it would only be a matter of time before they both realized that they were destined to be more than just friends and it was so great watching them fall.

Jade was not an easy sell for pursuing a relationship. She had been hurt deeply in the past and poor Kyle had to work hard to make her see that he was worth taking a chance on and that he would protect her feelings. Kyle was a great guy. He was funny, and charming. You could tell that he cared deeply for his family, even if they drove him nuts. And Jade brought out a side of Kyle that no one really had seen. He just radiated happiness when she was around.

The Hazards of Sleeping with a Friend was a quick and enjoyable read for me.The characters were fun and easy to connect with. I just adored Kyle’s mom. She was so sweet and so accepting. This book made me laugh, smile, swoon and there were a couple of moments that just broke my heart. This book had the perfect balance of humor, romance and angst. An overall, really great read.

This is the fifth book in the Hazard series by Alyssa Rose Ivy. I have really enjoyed this series. Since I loved the first four, I knew this one would be just as good.

I like how the author builds on past characters to make a deeper connection between the readers and the books. It's cool to see how the new characters mesh with the old ones.

Jade and Kyle were likeable from the start. I even remember Jade coming into the story in a previous book. I liked how they picked right up where they left off with her. She still works at the radio station and is still doing the show she was picked to help out with so long ago.

There were a few twists in this book I wasn't expecting and when truths came out, it showed the flaws in the characters and how they are relate-able to other people.

Most of the story was a fun romp between the sheets with two stuborn characters that refuse to admit their true feelings.

Add this book to your must read new adult contemporary romance lists! It is sure to provide you with some fun entertainment from the best selling author, Alyssa Rose Ivy. This book gets five glittery stars for being such a great read!

NA ReviewMy Thoughts
Note:The Hazards of Sleeping with a Friend is the Fifth book in the Hazards Series. You can find out more about the series, HERE
The Hazards of Sleeping with a Friend is the Fifth we get to check in on the past couples as well. Each book can be read as a standalone but I love Juliet and Reed, and Mallory and Colton so much that I would suggest reading them all. The girls are all sorority sisters and they are all such great friends. I can't wait to see who the next book is about. I missed book four, Savy and Glen's story. I didn't even realize it until I was sitting down to write this review. I will need to remedy that ASAP!

The Hazards of Sleeping with a Friend is Kyle and Jade's story. I really like Jade and Kyle. If you have read the series, you will remember Kyle best from Juliet's story (book 1) as Dylan's younger and much nicer brother. I am so glad that Kyle was finally getting his story. And as the story went on, I really felt connected to him. I loved that we got to learn so much about his background. I think I connected more with him than with Jade. And that is saying something because Jade is such a sweetheart. But I just wanted to shake her. She didn't seem to value herself at all, and it just broke my heart. I didn't get why she continued to hold back so much. But that is all part of Kyle and her journey for you to discover.

Alyssa Rose Ivy is the queen of fun, lighthearted romances. Sure, there are issues and roadblocks for the characters, but at the end of the day, you know that you are getting a good feel good romance, and I just love that. She is one of my go-to authors for this. And the Hazards series is a great series. I have honestly loved all of the books, and I hope that there are a ton more for me to enjoy! I like how interconnected the characters are throughout the series.

Jade has had it bad for Kyle for some time. But on the other hand she really isn’t interested in having a relationship. They always end badly. But when Kyle asks Jade to play his pretend girlfriend for a week with his family, Jade jumps at the chance. She may be against relationships...but she ain't stupid. This week may just be what these two are in need of....they just don't know it yet.

It happens every single time I read a book from this series. I end up loving the current couple more than the last. But another awesome aspect of the book is how some of the past characters play pivotal roles in the current read as well. It really is the best of both worlds when reading this series.

Readers are going to have a lot of fun following Jade and Kyle as they discover their true feelings for one another. I know I did. They really come off as genuine, likeable people and are characters you actually like reading about. It doesn’t hurt we have read about these people before. So when the unthinkable happens, you have this foundation built from a strong connection and you find you only want the best for them in the end.

I definitely recommend this book…this series…to anyone who favors a fun, entertaining NA read. I just love how fresh and enjoyable this series is...even 5 books in. 5 Stars!

Jade and Kyle have made an appearance through the series and I love both of them. I am so happy that Alyssa shipped them together ;)

Although they have major chemistry, Jade and Kyle have never broached the subject afraid of destroying their friendship. They are very comfortable and honest with each other for the most part. However, they have both been shaped by past events and the burden of the secrets they carry. Insecurities stemming from their families tug at the heartstrings and ultimately cause barriers to a deeper relationship.

Neither Kyle or Jade see themselves clearly. They are both truly wonderful people and need to realise their own worth.

The Hazards of Sleeping with a Friend is a very fast read touching on a lot of themes including tragedy, depression, guilt, regret and irrational blame. Ultimately, the foundations of any relationship whether romantic or platonic provide the support we need as individuals. The saying ‘stronger together’ would most definitely apply to Jade and Kyle.

It's no secret that I'm a big fan of Alyssa Rose Ivy's Hazards series. I've been eagerly anticipating the release of this newest book since the title was revealed. Every story has been filled with love and friendship and this one was no less.

We know Kyle and Jade from the previous books. They get along really well, being easy and relaxed around each other. Since both are single, I believe their attraction was more than warranted. Neither has made any definite move though. Then Kyle gets roped into going on his family trip and needed to bring his girlfriend along. His very non-existent girlfriend. Starting here, I pretty much knew how the story would go on. I knew Kyle would ask Jade to pretend to be his girlfriend and against her better judgement (even she acknowledged it herself), she'd say yes. Steamy things happen and inevitably their feelings surface and they fall in love. I enjoyed watching them take the leap into something more. A lot of the moments were obvious but so appealing.

Most of the book focused on Jade and Kyle's relationship. Jade was very reluctant to label herself and Kyle. "Fear can change you and mess you up so much that you barely resemble the person you once were." (Loc 3482). She does open up to Kyle eventually about her painful past but we don't get much more elaborations. Then she panics because he doesn't return any of her calls. She was especially paranoid because he disappears right after she lets him in. Ironically that was my favourite part of the book because her anxiety was so relatable. I'm sure everyone's been there. You let your insecurities take over and your mind roams through all sorts of possibilities, none of which are positive. Her reactions made perfect sense because if I hadn't known about it beforehand, I'd be antsy to find out too. Kyle's problem didn't bring much conflict to the story either. We don't learn about it until after he hears the devastating news. His actions were from the regret and guilt he felt and I loved how Jade understood and stayed by his side even as he tried to push her away. "I refused to walk away from him when he needed me most even if he didn't want me at all." (Loc 3345).

Compared to the previous books in the series, we barely see any of the Delta Mu girls and their other halves. Savy and Glen (from the novella) are around but Cara is the only one to pop up in telephone conversations. They still gave Jade lots of support and plenty of blunt girl talks which I adored. I was surprised by how much Dylan, Kyle's older brother, came into play in the story. He was definitely the same old douchebag who mistreated Juliet in the first book. All this leads me to want to ask Alyssa Rose Ivy some spoilery questions. My questions are somewhat self-explanatory but I wold really love to hear what Alyssa has to say about them.

I'm really happy Jade finally got her turn. Ever since she was introduced she's been a quiet background character. She got more 'page time' in The Hazards of Sex on the Beach and I just loved how super supportive she was for Cara. So thank you Alyssa for writing Jade's story! The cover model of Jade is a little different than what I imagined her to be but I think Kyle, from what I can see, is spot on. The Hazards of Sleeping with a Friend is a sexy addition to this fun and delightful series. I just can't get enough of them!

Heed the warning.

Jade has always liked Kyle but was wary of crossing THAT line. After all, she had no idea if Kyle felt the same. Now, things were about to change when he asked her to be his pretend girlfriend on a family function. What started out to be something platonic and simple turned out to be complicated when sex and emotions mixed. Jade has no idea how can they go back to being friends after what they have shared.

But Kyle has something else in mind. He liked her, and he wanted to continue what they started from the trip and take it from there. Jade had a problem with it initially, but Kyle was determined. Just when everything was right in their places and everything was pure bliss, tragedy happens. Kyle was at lost and preferred being alone. He pushed Jade away, now it was up to her to make him believe that she was in for the long haul.

The best relationships usually starts from being mere friends, and crossing THAT line would be the hardest, riskiest and bravest thing a person can ever do. Some would not know what to do about it, like Jade. Or others might make the best out of it, like Kyle.

Their relationship might have started in the weirdest of things, and perhaps it started out wrong – but turned out to be one of the best things that they have ever done. It had opened the gates of their emotions, and paved way to their happy ending. Of course, there were some bumps and unexpected surprises along the way. But nothing can come between true love.

Alyssa Rose Ivy once again gave her readers wrote a sweet, sexy and romantic tale in addition to this amazing series!

Jade and Kyle have an interesting relationship, "so what am I supposed to be agreeing to then? I’ll call you if I get horny next time instead of hooking up with someone random?" Kyle knows how to make a girl feel wanted and special with just one look, "you look really good with your hair wet.” His eyes weren’t focused on my hair. They were moving up and down me in a way that had my whole body heating." Jade she knows how to make her man feel wanted with a touch, "no. I just get to see a different side of you now.” She ran her hands over my bare chest." I loved this book Kyle was such a lovable character and it was great to see past characters and how they were getting on

My favorite trope of is a best friends to lovers story. Pair that with one of my favorite authors, Alyssa Rose Ivy you are for sure set to have a fantastic book. The Hazards of Sleeping with a friend is the fourth book in ARI's Hazards series. You don't have to read them all to read this one. It can completely be reads as a standalone. ARI fills this one cover to cover with lots of angst, chemistry and a whole lot of love. If you are a fan of BFTL then make sure you one click!

I enjoyed how the story started with confirmation of both MCs feelings. It made it so much easier for me to continue. I liked that it was predictable and light, so it was possibly a re-read nominator for me. Besides, when the conflict arose, it was solved comfortably by what I understood of their characteristics as well. However, I had a feeling that I kind of still the closure as to what happened with Dylan. Otherwise, everything is plausible for me.

I liked the idea of the book and the characters were interesting but they never broke the surface. The drama of the story built the tension and conflict, but the lack of development in the protagonists made it difficult to connect to either of them.

The Hazards of Sleeping with a Friend is the fifth book in the Hazards series by Alyssa Rose Ivy. I have enjoyed this series since the beginning, so I was excited to read another installment. Each book can be read as a standalone, though the characters are interconnected and you get to actually meet Jade and Kyle previously in this series. I liked these two together, and I thought that they were good for one another. I did think that this book was good, but there were a few things that kept this from being a great read for me though.

Jade and Kyle have been friends for awhile, since she started working for the radio station that Kyle works for. Though Kyle is technically her boss, they have always treated each other as equals. When Kyle needs Jade's help, she reluctantly agrees to pretend to be his girlfriend for a family vacation that Kyle asks her to go on. But it doesn't take long before their pretending turns into real feelings. But when their week long vacation is over and they return to real life, will their relationship be over? And when Kyle's life suddenly falls apart, will he be able to lean on Jade for support, or will he push her away?

I liked Kyle and Jade well enough, and I liked them together. But these two had some issues and I kept waiting for them to kind of figure things out. Both Kyle and Jade had some insecurities and while Kyle was ready to take their relationship to the next level, Jade wasn't. I felt like her reasons for her insecurities were sort of over-hyped. When all was revealed it was pretty nonchalant and didn't really seem to be as big as I would have expected for her to be so against relationships. At least to get in the way of a relationship with a friend that she knew was a good guy that wouldn't hurt her. It was brought up and then quickly dropped before more drama was dumped on these two. Then when Jade finally did start to come around, things happened with Kyle that seemed to come way out of left field. Not only did Jade not have a clue about the stuff that was going on, but I felt like as a reader it didn't fit his personality at all. Yes Kyle had some issues with his family, but I felt like the stuff that came up about him was so different from what we had seen of him as a person throughout this series and book. It just didn't fit to me, and I found myself not believing that things were as serious as they were made out to be.

While I liked the chemistry and friendship between Jade and Kyle, I just didn't feel as though this book was anything new or different. To me, this book was predictable and had been done before. I was hoping that there would be something to make this one stand out and be different from the fake relationship to real one trope, but unfortunately this one was just okay. I think if you are a fan of this series, you might like this one and give it a shot. But if you are looking for something different or unique, I don't know that I would recommend it. It had it's enjoyable moments, but overall this one was easy to forget as soon as I finished reading.

I have received an ARC copy of this book from the Author in exchange for an honest review. The thoughts are 100% mine and I wan not compensated in any way.

So before moving to my thoughts, I have to wipe the tears, blow my nose again. Ok, I'm ready...damn the tears are starting again.

My thoughts:

This book is the most awaited book in the Hazards Series...at least by me. I always wanted to know Jade's story. She was amazing friend in most of the previous parts, but she was always the one that was really closed. No one knew about her previous life. Life before coming to college. And I thought that maybe she had a bad break up, her parents are not the best ones. But her story...her story made me cry. I was sobbing. I never expected that she went through something like that.

In here we have Jade and Kyle. Friends, since they started working together at the music station and also after drama with Juliet and Kyle's brother, Dylan. Or Cara's story. They were amazing friends. Jade felt like she can tell Kyle everything, but she was also falling for him. She had a crush, but she didn't want a relationship, as she knew they never work out and they end ugly. She wanted to spare herself heartbreak and hurt, humiliation after a break up. Their conversation just as the book begins made e laugh so hard by tummy hurt.

The story is told from 2 POVs: Jade's and Kyle's. Both of them have their secrets, that no one knows about. Both had drama in the past. Even though it's Jade that is supposed to call Kyle if she gets an URGE, but it's him calling her first, but it's not because of that. He needs her help in convincing his family, that he has a girlfriend. For couple of months now. At the beginning she is not sure what to do. She knows it's a bad idea, especially, when she is crushing on him so much. But even though, she agrees and after a week together, everything changes. Their are not able to go back to being just friends. They agree to let things happen naturally. Jade, being herself, is clearly stating it's only sex, but Kyle is fighting to make sure it will change and they will have a full relationship. One night, where she admits that it's something more and finally she is ready to call it a relationship, she tells him everything. Her bad break up and what happened to damage her. In here I was crying really hard. I DID NOT EXPECT THAT! At the same time a tragedy happens and this time it's not Jade that is pushing Kyle away, it's him pushing her away. He is depressed and blames himself. He shuts everyone out. He knows that he is hurting Jade, but he is convinced he doesn't deserve anything. And slowly darkness pulls him deeper and deeper. But Jade fights and one evening, she follows him to one place he finds happiness, and as only one person she is telling him That it's not his fault. Never was. He was not the selfish one.

Everything ends with usual happy ending, but this story broke me. In my personally view, this part was the most beautiful one.

Well done, Alyssa. Amazing, beautiful 5 stars.

Jade and Kyle have watched their friends find their happy ever after now it’s their turn. They both are attracted to each other and over the last six months they have become close friends. Kyle’s family is having a get together and he’s been telling them this whole time that he had a girlfriend so if he doesn’t bring one than his mother will start fixing him up. Kyle decides to ask Jade to go along with him as his girlfriend for the week so that he can fool the family. Jade knows she should but she equally attracted to Kyle so they both embark on a week that will change their relationship.

The chemistry between the two is sizzling in the hotel room as the two connect on a whole new level. While neither one wants it to end nor get awkward they both decide to take it slow after returning from the weeklong vacation. Only Kyle isn’t willing to let her go back to her life, and Jade is just as much in love with him. Together they fall in love finding exactly what they needed to heal their tragic broken pasts and change the futures. When tragedy strikes their relationship will be tested.

I’ve been waiting for Jade to get her happy ever after since things didn't work out with Len the drummer. I think Kyle was the perfect choice for after all they both are music fans and thanks to her show with Cara it's how they came to be friends. We didn’t see the girls from the prior books as much as we have in the others but they are still making cameo appearances. We did get a little more of Savannah and Glen from the prior book which I enjoyed.

The Hazards of Sleeping with a Friend is the 5th installment of the Hazards series telling Jade and Kyles story. I’ve loved Jade from when she was Mallory’s little sister and the way she connected with Cara in the 3rd book just sealed a spot in my heart. The characters are some of my favorites they are those you can’t help connecting with and being captivated by their story. I didn’t read the synopsis before starting the story so it was a surprise right from the start I enjoyed the twists and learning about Jades past. The author did a beautiful job creating another fantastic story it’s well written flowing along smoothly from start to finish. I loved every moment of the book finishing it in one after noon it was impossible to put down because I had to know that it would all work out. I love the Hazards series and hope to see more of them maybe a wedding or two. While this book is hot and steamy it’s tastefully done and doesn't overwhelm the story which I enjoyed.

Though this is the first novel I've read by Alyssa Rose Ivy, I have to say I’m hooked on the Hazards series. How can you not love a book that grabs you on the first page with the first line of “Is sex actually important?” And, no, this isn't a conversation between two girlfriends so you can let your imagination run wild as to how the conversation goes! It’s hot, to say the least.

Jade is an atypical female character; she’s actually shying away from commitment. However, as you get to know her, her reason is very valid. Love is scary and it can hurt. In fact, she's been very hurt, and it's been easier to keep her distance. However, that doesn't stop her from lusting after Kyle. She has forgotten, or maybe ever knew, that the flip side of the coin is well worth the risk. Kyle is the one who wants to show her how great it can be…he’s been dying to have the chance to do so for months!

Kyle is the older guy who runs the radio station where Jade works. He’s hot. He’s smart. He’s liked jade for a long time, but has never acted on it. Funnily enough, she has no clue that he has the same feelings until he offers his *services* (wink, wink). Seeing the two of them dance around each other until they realize they want to fall into each other is quite delightful. They have a great spark, but will Jade’s reluctance to put herself out there be the ultimate stumbling block?

In this novel, we meet Kyle’s family, specifically his brother. Nope, not a fan. (His dad is a piece of work, too.) However, Ivy doesn't want us to be, and that’s why a certain scene is so strong and pivotal. You’re torn on what to feel, and understandably so. Kyle has had a strained relationship with his “golden boy” brother for a long time, and he’s tired of always cleaning up his messes. He's always to blame, but he still loves his brother. This dynamic plays very strongly into who Kyle is and the reason for his reactions.

The writing is light and captivating. You find yourself eager to get to the next page, to unearth their secrets. My only wishes for this novel are that we could be provided with a better understanding of the back story of Kyle and Dylan, as well as Kyle’s own personal secret (nope, no spoiler here…read the book to find out!). Maybe we’ll get a sequel from Kyle’s POV. Now, there’s something to think about…

I was given this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Kyle and Jade are friends and find a level of comfort in expressing themselves with each other. They have become familiar with each other’s professional likes and dislikes, and are able to open up with one another in a way that unlocks the door to possibilities and potentials.

Jade
Her name is so fitting.  Jaded by love. She wonders if she will ever have a relationship that is meaningful. If she can’t, she doesn’t want to miss out on any of the other benefits that come with it. She is a carefree young lady who is full of life and ready to explore her potentials.

Kyle
He's not ready for a relationship with just anyone, but there is someone; he feels this may be out of the question. His life hasn’t made room for serious relationships. It’s always been easier to have surface liaisons.

“Now wasn’t the time to overanalyze things. Sometimes it was better to feel than to think.”
Friendships can cost at times, and our main characters give us a unique opportunity to explore this. Through each interaction and thought, we find ourselves falling further in love with this duo as we learn about about their personal and professional lives, their families, and their idiosyncrasies.

“That’s all I wanted from you. Your love and your heart.”
Having already gotten a taste of these quirky and lovable characters, I was pretty much schoolgirl giddy throughout the entire book. It was charming, seductive, hilarious, and sweet. Alyssa Rose Ivy’s writing style allowed the story to come to life in such a way that I couldn’t put it down. My eyes could not read fast enough and Kindle finger could not flip quick enough. I loved that Jade and Kyle had distinct personalities, yet shared so many commonalities that continually drew them to one another. It was also great to catch up with some of the characters that have been present in previous books in the series. This was without a doubt my favorite Hazards read, and I look forward to many more.

I think this one might be my favorite "hazards" book yet!!
Friends who fall in love without realizing it??? I love those kinds of books!!

Kyle and Jade are good friends. They work together at the radio station and have a great chemistry. Jade always had a crush on Kyle, but never acted on it. Then one night, they got to talking and Jade lets it slip that she wouldn't really minds having with a friends with benefits. Immediately Kyle said IF she ever did, he would offer his services. What starts off as playful banter soon becomes more.

Kyle has to go home to a family reunion and thanks to his brother, his family thinks his "girlfriend" is coming too. Kyle has lead his family to think he has one just to get them off his back. He asks Jade to play the role for the weekend to help him out. Reluctantly, Jade agrees. She doesn't know what she is getting herself into, but kind of likes the idea. Plus she gets a weekend away to a place she has never been!

A romantic weekend away at Lake George is more than she could ever imagine, especially when she and Kyle fall easily into their roles as boyfriend and girlfriend. One thing leads to another and the friend with benefits role comes all to easily.

Before they know it, feelings are developing more and more between both of them. It is easy to fall for someone when you have a steady friendship first. Even though things are all together backwards for the couple. they are slowly figuring it out.

When a horrible tragedy happens to Kyle and his family, he pulls back from everyone. He completely shuts out Jade and breaks off everything. Kyle needs Jade more than anything right now and he won't allow himself to because he blames himself for what happened.

I loved how these two friends who had so much in common fell in love so easily and complimented each other. I have read all the books in this series and I think that Jade and Kyle have been my favorite. Their banter was great and their feelings were real.

I just really love this series and it's not a surprise that I really liked The Hazards of Sleeping with a Friend. Jade and Kyle are friends. Good friends. They work together and go to school together. And they are secretly attracted to each other but neither wants to move forward past friendship for their own reasons, until Kyle is invited to a family function and has to bring his "girlfriend".

Of course Jade is going to help him out and it doesn't take long before they both learn the hazards of sleeping with a friend. Playing at being a couple in front of Kyle's family is challenging but not any more than figuring out their relationship when they go back to school. But when tragedy strikes, well, things get even more complicated.

What I loved about this story was the realism. The Hazards of Sleeping with a Friend does a great job of capturing what might happen when you cross that line with a friend, and all the emotions that go along with it. I thought they had in under control until the end when things just go sideways for them and I did get a little bit choked up about it.

What I like about this series is that the characters act like people I know in real life, and they don't drag things out too long. I loved the way this story ended (nope, not going to tell you!)

If you are look for some sweet college love stories with a nice dose of drama and realistic characters, this series might be for you. Recommended.

I hate saying it, but, after reading all of the Hazards books, The Hazards of Sleeping with a Friend is my least favorite in the series. It wasn't that it wasn't a good book. It was. There were just some choices the author made that I didn't agree with.

In The Hazards of Sleeping with a Friend, we finally get Kyle's story. We've seen him have a lot of ups and downs in the women department over the series, so it's fun for him to finally meet his match in Jade. They are friends from their radio station jobs, but things start to get complicated and sensual between them when Jade pretends to be Kyle's girlfriend.

I adored the first half of this book. Kyle and Jade's fake relationship was cute. The way they end up together is so much fun. They learned a lot about each other -- both in and out of bed. I loved the connection they had.

Where the story started to lose me was after their pretend time was over. The story took a drastic turn, and it went from being cute and happy to pretty dang depressing. The tone was so different, it was almost like two different stories in one book. I didn't like the scenario or how it played out. I get there had to be a conflict in the story. I just wish it hadn't been that.

Overall, The Hazards of Sleeping with a Friend was a good book. It just wasn't as good as the rest of the series. If you're a fan of the Hazards series, you'll want to read it because you'll want to see Kyle get his happily ever after.

This book was a light, fun read. I wish I would have read the others in the series but you don't need to to read this story. This story was about Jade and Kyle who both have had previous feelings for each other but didn't act on them. They both worked for the student radio station at college and became fast friends. Jade has been jaded in the past and was contemplating on if she could go a life without sex and relationships. After discussing this one night with Kyle he tells Jade that if she has any feelings of needing someone to call him. Shocked by his admissions, Jade makes jokes and leaves it at that but secretly thought about what it would be like to be with him. After leaving Jade, Kyle gets a call from his brother telling him he had to come home and bring his girlfriend. This would be fine if only Kyle actually had a girlfriend. Not fully thinking he calls the first person he knows he can trust: Jade. Jade hesitantly agrees to play Kyle fake girlfriend but when the lines become blurry can these two find away to make something real or will Jade's jaded past make her lose the one thing she's never really had: love. Will Kyle make her see he's worth taking the risk on? Read to find out what happens to these two!

Jade and Kyle

Jade enjoyed working at the radio station with Kyle. She had a crush on him so it made it even better. She was a freshman at Harrison in the Delta Mu sorority. Music was her thing. She loved it. She knew she was destined to be alone. She didn't see herself as ever getting married. It wasn't worth it. She was having a few beers with Kyle at the station one night when she somehow got the conversation to be about sex and that she'd been thinking about having a random one night stand. Kyle didn't want her to be with a random stranger so he graciously offered his services if she decided she needed to have sex. They had become good friends over the school year. When school got out, he had to go on a trip up to Lake Grand with his family. His family thought he was dating someone so he convinced Jade to go on the trip as his fake girlfriend.

This is another book in the Hazard series. I might not read the Mistletoe book right away because I think I need a little break from these mind numbing stories. They aren't bad books, I still give them 4 stars because I enjoy them. I like to get away for a bit from my life. Then again, Christmas is in three days so it might be kind of appropriate. Maybe I'll read just a chapter or three...

The book was in dual POVs. The editing was good.

I've been a fan of Alyssa's Hazards series since I first had a chance to read one of them. This fifth entry in the series continues with the great writing, interesting characters and great storyline.

I liked Jade's character, I found her to be smart and strong-though the hang up she has about committing to one person is a bit exasperating at times. Kyle is a sweetheart, someone who comes across as easy to fall for, and a great friend regardless. They both have their own issues, though as we come to find out later in the book, Kyle's runs a lot deeper and doesn't come to light until after a huge twist comes up.

I'm always a sucker for a friends-to-more story, and this fits that perfectly. Kyle and Jade work well as a couple, even if they (mostly Jade) aren't ready to call it that. But they are both there for each other, supportive and yes-loving.

A sweet story with some heartache thrown in, The Hazards of Sleeping with a Friend is a solid 4-star read for me, and I'd recommend it to anyone 18+ who is a fan of new adult romance. And honestly, I can always count on this author for a good read regardless of genre.

Book five in the Hazards Series.
Kyle and Jade work together at the college radio station. They've been friends for a while, both secretly wishing for more.
Things start to heat up when Kyle offers his services if Jade ever feels like a roll in the sheets. Opportunity arises to follow through on that offer when Kyle needs Jade to be his pretend girlfriend on a week away with his family.
Things are playful and fun, but Jade is reluctant to have a relationship. She has had a nasty experience in the past.
Contention among Kyle’s family hints at a deeper level in the storyline. When tragedy strikes, things change dramatically and Kyle and Jade's relationship is tested.
I thought I was in for a fun, frivolous read to begin with. Nothing wrong with that at all. It's a light-hearted, entertaining escape from life. I think fun reads are as important as the emotionally wrenching ones. This book provided both.
The author throws in a couple of shocks to keep the reader on their toes. The challenges faced by the characters are depicted with insightful perception.
I really enjoyed this story.
Four flares.
