What if we prayed how Jesus taught us to? Many of us pray with little heart. We mutter the usual and leave with little expectation. But is this how Jesus taught us to pray? The Lord’s Prayer is a prayer according to God’s will, a prayer that beckons heaven to crash into earth. Tied to the sure promises of God, it compels us to seek—and expect—His glory in every sphere. When one prays consistently, persistently, and boldly for the hallowing of God’s holy name, big things happen. Radical Prayer gives us a glimpse of the transformative and explosive power of praying in God’s will, a power that takes place internally and manifests externally. Whether your prayer life is strong or in shambles, Radical Prayer will compel you to a life of bold, persistent, transformative, and expectant prayer.
“Look around. See how beautiful everything is. See the power of the waves! And to think, prayer is so much more powerful!”
Feeling convicted to someday be the kind of prayer warrior that a husband/father should be for their family like described below:
“When he would tell me or my sis he was praying for us, we knew it wasn’t just arrow shots heavenward, but a continual discourse with the triune God whom my father so hallowed.”
Like many Christians I yearn for a more effective prayer like. I have read countless books on prayer. I glean something from each one. From this book, I am reminded that prayer should be hallowed. As Manny Mill says in his book, “We must take the hallowing of God’s name extremely seriously. God declared, through the prophet Isaiah, “I am the Lord, that is my name; and my glory I will not give to another.” Isaiah 42:8
Radical prayer is Biblical; it is precise; it is persistent. Mill does not give any formula or order for prayer. His focus is on God’s holiness, and that should be the foundation for all prayer. Hallowed prayers result in a life that desires God’s name be hallowed in everything we do.
We all fall into the trap of investing less and less into our prayer life because we don’t see immediate returns/answers. There were so many wonderful stories of persistent prayer doing amazing things in someone’s life…both present and years in the future. You have to pray with the intention of hallowing Jesus’ name because he answers prayer according to His will, not yours. The format of this book was very similar to Love Does by Bob Goff. I recommend if you need to be challenged!
4 stars The author does a phenomenal job of showing how a person can change through consistent and powerful prayer. Absolutely nothing a person does is of himself, all the glory goes to God. This book shows example after example of what happened when people purposefully prayed for God to move. God is a God of miracles. Prayer changes lives.
One of the main points is that our primary and recurring petition in prayer should be for God’s name to be hallowed through Christ’s and the Spirit’s work in our lives; and how powerful a request that is because surely the Father can’t but glorify Himself!
I could feel the energy from Manny throughout the book. Very inspiring to hear his story and of those around him. Thank you for shaing this with us Manny!
I finished reading Manny Mill's book on radical prayer a couple of months ago. For me, the mark of a classic Christian book is how many times I reference it, either in conversation or in my written communications. I can list just a few Christian books that I have read over the years that fit into that category, and Manny's book is now included in that list.
I have already referenced his "Ready to Be Radical" prayer points from chapter ten: • Total surrender • Honest confession • Selfless servitude • Eager expectancy • Committed obedience
I encourage you to read Manny's book. It will radicalize your prayer life!
This is one of the most encouraging books on prayer i've ever read. Manny has a big heart and it comes through in this book. After reading Radical Prayer, you will feel like you want to know the man behind this book, and more importantly, you'll want to know his God!
