Who knew falling in love with my best friend had the potential to single-handedly destroy my entire family?
For as long as I could remember I've been in love with sexy, lawyer extraordinaire Nicholas Alexander. We always had a certain chemistry growing up. Especially after we shared one passionate, forbidden, perfect kiss as teenagers. For years I hoped he could look past my overprotective brothers and our age difference so we could be more than friends, I was wrong. Four years ago I left New York and my heart behind. Now I'm back to stake a claim on the only man I've ever loved. But unbeknownst to me, things are way more complicated than I could imagine when I learn he's engaged, to my sister.
Will the love and desire I feel for the one man I've ever truly wanted destroy me? Am I willing to risk it all, for a chance at everlasting love?
Catherine Reed is the one woman I couldn't have but the one I always wanted. She was my best friend’s baby sister which means she was definitely off limits to me and anyone else if I had my way. Not even having a merry-go-round of beautiful girls could stop me from wanting her. Watching her leave was hard but I knew giving in to what I wanted back then would ruin her...us. All I've ever wanted was for her to be happy and to see her beautiful smile.
I haven't gotten to where I am by always doing what's right. She's Back. I want Her. I have every intention of making her Mine.
Shaniel Watson is the author of the Imperfections Series. Her first book was published in 2015. She writes stories she likes to read, sultry emotional stories with imperfect characters who eventually get their happy ending. Shaniel lives in New York and is the proud mother of two daughters.
Cat has loved Nick for as long as she can remember. But him being her older brothers best friend made being with him near impossible. For years she wished and waited while she watched him move through women like candy. Other than an amazing kiss when she was 13 he has never showed any interest in her other than being one of her best friends. He made sure he kept any prospective guys away from her as well. After being away at college for four years Cat decides it’s time to go back home. And maybe, just maybe she can finally get what she’s always wanted. Nick. But upon returning home she finds that being with Nick may not be in her future after all. He’s engaged to her sister.
Nick didn’t think Cat was coming back. If he did he would have never gotten himself involved with her sister Kate. Now he’s in a terrible war with himself to either do what’s right or do what he wants. And what he wants is Cat. He’s always wanted her but she was the one girl he couldn’t touch. He kissed her once when she was 13 and that moment had been branded in his memory forever. Now Cat is back and it’s like getting hit with a freight train. The chemistry between them is off the charts and he knows he can’t keep his feelings to himself any longer.
“I should have been her first and only in every way. I let her get away and it won’t happen again. She’s going to be mine…..”
Cat is devastated by the news that Nick is engaged to her sister. What she can’t figure out is why he doesn’t seem too happy about it. When they finally have a moment alone their feelings for each other come to the surface and they share a hot and incredible unplanned moment together. That’s when the truth comes out and it’s worse than Cat thought. Now torn between her family and her love for Nick, Cat must decide if hurting her family for love is worth it.
“I want him. No matter how hard I try to fight it, I want him.”
Nick convinces Cat to give him a chance, and she agrees. After an amazing weekend together they convince themselves that they can make this work. But then everything comes crashing down around them and they are left dealing with the aftermath of the heartache and betrayal. Cat realizes then that maybe love is not enough after all.
“You need time, I’m going to give you time. But that does not mean it’s over between us. I love you, I am not giving up on us.”
Imperfections is a story about love, heartache, betrayal and fate. Cat and Nick had amazing chemistry that they hid from one another for years. The time was never right for them. Since staying away from each other was no longer an option for them they now have to deal with the consequences of hurting their family and friends. Will love be enough or are they destined to be separated by their actions? Stay tuned for Book Two to find out what happens with Nick and Cat.
WARNING!!!! This review is nasty mean and contains loads of spoilers,
read at your peril.
Imperfections is the first book in this series and the first book I have read by this author, I was gifted a copy of the book to read for Gemma reads too much.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Yep that was me screaming!!!!
I’m sorry to say that this is possibly going to more of a rant than a review. But I have to get this out so it doesn’t fester and taint the other books I plan to read this week.
Arghhhhhhhhhhh
Yep that’s me screaming again at just how much I hated this book!!!
I can honestly say I don’t think I have ever read a book where I passionately hate the characters as much as I do in this book!!!
This isn’t just a ‘God there annoying’ moan, this is a I wish had never signed on to read this book I hate them so much!!!!!!
Seriously what the hell is wrong with these people!!!!
Cat is in love with Nick that’s cool I can relate to that. But then she finds out that Nick is engaged to her Sister Kate.
Now as far as I’m concerned girl code, sister code whatever you want to call it would say ok so he’s my sister’s fella hands off??
But no that doesn’t even act as a deterrent to cat and Nick in fact I don’t think it’s mentioned more than a couple of times at the start.
What I don’t understand is why Cat would even consider having sex with a guy who had already shoved his dick in my sister first!!!!!! I’m sorry but that’s just fucked up!!!!
Nick is scum, that’s not a word I use often but it feels fairly apt in this circumstance.
First he has a one night stand with his best mate’s twin sister, then he finds out that she’s pregnant. Then he agrees to look after Kate and the baby financially but still says NOTHING when Kate announces to her family that they have got engaged!!!!
Nick pursues Cat and never really thinks twice about the fact that a few short weeks ago he was banging her sister!!!
He is obnoxious and aggressive to the point where I was half expecting him to become violent with Cat. I’m glad to say there was absolutely nothing even remotely sexy about him.
What I think makes it worse is that he shows little to no remorse at the situation he is putting Cat in. He says he loves her but honestly how could he possibly love her when he is prepared to annihilate her life so he can get his end away!!?
Kate and her mother were like poisonous spiders creeping into the story and generally making you want to hit them with something hard. I hated Kate with an absolute passion!!!
I feel like Cat was portrayed like a doormat, but what’s worse is that she allows herself to be treated that way. I wanted to feel some empathy towards her but I just didn’t like her.
I think if she had actually thought about what she was doing rather than being influenced by everyone she spoke to I may have found a redeeming quality in her!!!
What I don’t understand is why Nick even went along with Kate’s bizarre lies. I mean yes it would have been a bit weird had he have hooked up with Cat whilst Kate was pregnant with his kid but surely that would have been better than allowing Cats whole family to believe he was cheating on a loving committed relationship.
Personally I think the next book should be Cat moving away from New York and never seeing Nick again. As far as I’m concerned this couple don’t have a happy ever after in their future.
Nick is toxic!!
I know that there are people out there that will think this book is brilliant. I probably seem like a nightmare and truthfully I have never had an issue with cheating themes or taboo/forbidden love before. But I just hated this book on every level, had I not committed to reviewing this book I never would have finished it.
It’s been a long time since I so passionately hated a book so much that it made me angry. But with every cell in my body I want to throw my kindle across the room every time I think about Nick!!!
I’ve never rated a book as zero stars so I’m going to be generous and say this book gets 1 star from me.
Catherine (Cat) Reed has loved one man her entire life. All she wanted was for her brothers best friend Nick to see her and want her as much as she wants him. They shared one kiss as teenagers but Nicks friendship with her brother Chris kept more from happening.
Cat leaves New York and her heart for college. When she returns 4 years later she's ready to claim Nick as hers. What she didn't expect was to find out that he's engaged to her now pregnant sister.
Lies and betrayal run rampant in this book. Kate (Cat's sister) is a nasty and conniving Bi*#*. She will stop at nothing to get what she wants. She is evil incarnate and ends up turning Cat's whole family against her.
Then Cat realizes that Nick feels the same way...
While reading this book I felt like I was watching Jerry Springer and Maury Povich wrapped up in a train wreck that I couldn't look away from.
With that said I LOVED this book. I couldn't put it down. This is not your normal HEA, in fact it does end in a steep cliffhanger.
I highly recommend you purchase both books at the same time.
I am sorry but I could not like this story to much baby mama drama especially since he slept with her sister really he knew he had feelings for her but still slept with the sister. Then at the end slept with another woman cause he thought she slept with Matt whom she should have been with he would have really loved her. Sorry did not like this. Warning warning
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Nick flirted between being perfect and an outright a-hole, but still I kept reading because I wanted to know if Cat was going to toss him to the curb. And now i'm stuck waiting until the Fall in order to get (hopefully) the final answer.
CAPTIVATING, SEDUCTIVE AND DELIGHTFULLY ENTERTAINING !!! Title: Imperfections Series: Imperfections Designation: Book One, NOT A STANDALONE, CLIFFHANGER AHEAD Author: Shaniel Watson Reading Platform: Kindle Edition My Rating: Four Delightfully Entertaining Stars**** Wow! Stunning Debut novel from Shaniel Watson! Since this is Shaniel Watson's debut novel, this is obviously my first time reading her work but I can assure you, it won't be my last. As a matter of fact, as soon as I finished reading this book, I raced back to Amazon to purchase the second book of the series, Imperfections Come To Light. I even preordered the third book, Imperfections Take Me As I Am, which will be available November 29, 2016. That's quite a recommendation in itself. Please allow me to state up front, this is a full-length novel but it is NOT a standalone and does end in a cliffhanger. I was not aware of that fact when I began reading this book and was somewhat irritated upon discovering this little morsel at the end. I have nothing against novels that continue over multiple releases but this fact was not disclosed in the blurb. This information should always be included for readers who prefer not to read stories with cliffhangers or would rather wait until the story is complete. Here's a fact: a sure-fire way to lose potential fans is not to make it clear upfront what the consumer should expect from your book...like a disheartening cliffhanger after 536 pages. I always research my books before I purchase and after reading the blurb and several of the reviews, even I was caught completely off-guard. I suggest you amend your blurb. I don't want to beat a dead horse so let's talk specifics about the mechanics of the book. Imperfections is a riveting, sensual, well-crafted and well-edited contemporary romance with a beautifully written first-person narrative featuring clearly defined perspectives from the two protagonists, handsome, legal eagle and total womanizer Nick Alexander and beautiful, kindhearted kindergarten teacher Catherine 'Cat' Reed. I was immediately drawn into this story by these two characters who completely stole my heart. Yes, Nick was arrogant and a total player but he was also charming and had quite a few redeeming qualities. *swoon* Cat was just a real sweetheart and my heart literally broke for her. Watson not only tugged on my heartstrings with this story, she ripped my heart right out of my chest. I went through the entire gambit of emotions through the progression of this story, from excitement to anticipation to hopefulness to happiness to disappointment to sadness to anger, and finally to utter and complete heartbreak. By the end I was sobbing and flat out ugly cried. Folks, it wasn't pretty. Yet, even as the drama and turmoil continued to escalate, there was also a liberal amount of humor woven into the story and I found myself laughing out loud on several occasions. As the story unfolded, I was drawn deeper and deeper into the lives of not only Nick and Cat, but also the entire Reed and Alexander families. There was a large cast of remarkable characters included in this story and I loved them all. I became quite attached to several of the secondary players and found myself wanting to know more about them as well. I suspect we may reading a future book or books about some of them, or at least I hope so! I would love to read more about Chris and Ava. *hint-hint* I found the characters to be intriguing, captivating, engaging, well-developed, realistic and relatable. The concept for this novel is not a new one. I've read similar versions on several occasions, but I found the presentation and progression of this story to be creative, imaginative, unusual and brave, especially for a first novel. The author truly surprised me on more than one occasion when she chose to take the road less traveled with several of the plot threads. I was completely gobsmacked. I would love to give details but I can't without giving spoilers and I don't do spoilers. The dialogue was smart, snappy, natural, well-executed and flowed effortlessly. The book was a whopping 536 pages long but the pages flew as did the time as I became totally mesmerized by these people, their lives, and their story. Watson skillfully combines every single one of these elements to craft a delightfully entertaining read. If you're looking for a deliciously seductive contemporary saga filled to the brim with heartbreaking drama, agonizing angst, heated attraction, fiery passion, sweet romance, dreamy sex, saucy humor and a cast of magnificent characters, then this is most definitely the book for you.
Twenty-four-year-old Catherine Reed has finally decided it's time to return to the fold. After finishing college, proving her independence and making her own way for four years, she's ready to move back home to New York City and start a new life. And who knows, maybe that life will include the only man she's ever loved, her older brother's childhood best friend, Nick Alexander. She's known Nick almost her entire life. Nick and her brother, Chris, had been friends ever since she could remember. They were four years her senior but they still allowed her to hang around with them which was not always a good thing. Cat was the baby of the Reed family and the Reed men have always been a little overprotective of her, especially her brother Chris and friend Nick, particularly with the boys she dated which had been few and far between since Chris and Nick always scared them away. But what her family never knew, Nick had actually been her first kiss and to this very day, the only man with whom she dreams of spending her life. Unfortunately, Nick has never seemed interested in any kind of relationship with her other than one as a little sister and friend...except that one kiss. She'd made a lot of changes so maybe it's not too late to finally snag his attention. She never really counted on seeing him her first night back home and she certainly wasn't prepared for her sister Kate's big surprise announcement. She, and I don't mean Cat, and Nick are engaged...as in to be married. Wait...What? Kate and Nick had never been close. They'd never even gotten along. How could this be? Cat was stunned. Nick acted like he was actually glad to see her...almost as if he were interested in her...not Kate. Apparently, the engagement announcement has come as quite a surprise to everyone...and I do mean everyone! What's a girl to do when the man of your dreams will soon be marrying your sister? I guess we'll see!
Did I like this book? Yes, very much! Would I recommend it? You bet and I am but only for adult readers since it does contain some dreamy sex scenes and a few naughty words. There were a few minor boo-boos but nothing that distracted me from the story. Overall, it was well-crafted and edited. So why did I deduct a star from my rating? I think you already know the answer. You should have disclosed the book was not a standalone and ended with a cliffhanger...and that I would have to read two more books to get to the end of the story. Will I read this author again? Absolutely! I've already purchased the second book and intend to start reading it as soon as I finish this review. I've also preordered the third! I don't want to miss a thing in this family drama! lol... And finally, was I entertained? Totally! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read.

I don't know where to start, cause I don't want give to much away. I never expected it to end the way it did. This is Shaniel Watson debut novel and what an awesome job. Cat is finally coming home from college for good, she's not been home in a year, so she's more than ready to see her family and what everyone has been into. When she gets home she so excited and then her best friend comes by and those feelings she's always had resurface. Growing up Cat always hung with her brother chris and his friend nick who soon become cat's best friend as well, it was always the 3 of them. Cat grew feelings for nick, but knew he would never see her as anything other than Chris's little sister. nick has always had feelings for cat but would cross that line due to chris and the rest of cat's family, but she's not so little now and nick sees more that Chris's little sister, but has their chance past. This story is about first loves that are true love. but when things don't work out the way you wanted and mistakes are made can true love be enough to stay together or will it cause Cat to lose everything, even family. I loved every character in this book Ava is awesome, she's a spit fire and I hope to see her and Chris's story but first I want more of nick and cat. omg the sex is hot, I felt myself blush and smile. Great book, but with a cliffhanger. I'm already anticipating the next one. a must read definitely.
I received this book on behalf of obsessive pimpettes. I give this 5 stars This got me from the first chapter. Cat comes home from behind away to her family. That first night her best friend nick comes to see her and immediately they are attracted to each other but that same night he announces with her sister they are getting married. Cat is devastated. They can't hold their feelings back so as things heat up people get hurt. Things are said that they can't take back. Family is hurt, friendships are ruined but is love enough to save them? There is a cliffhanger so be prepared. Can't wait to see what happens.
This is the first book in the series and the characters were so relatable I wanted to jump into the book once I started the book I could not put it down I was up till all hours of the Wii morning. There's just nothing else to say that other than that the book was simply phenomenal.

Just because Cat has loved Nick since her teens doesn't mean she gets to keep him on her return from Canada
For as long as I could remember, I'd been in love with sexy, lawyer extraordinaire Nicholas Alexander. We’d always had a certain chemistry growing up, especially after we shared one passionate, forbidden, perfect kiss as teenagers. For years, I’d hoped he could look past my overprotective brothers and our age difference so we could be more than friends, I was wrong. Four years ago, I left New York and my heart behind. All I've ever wanted was for her to be happy and to see her beautiful smile. (Amazon blurb)
Even though I have a few guilty pleasures, I'm finding myself loving the secret love for the partner who's engaged to the brother/sister, but (and it's THE big but) turns out that the partner and the one in love with them are attracted to each other to a point where they really can't keep their hands off each other. The difference in Imperfections is that Nick wasn't 100% on board with the engagement and couldn't keep his hands off Cat; the sexual tension and chemistry rolling off each other was almost tangible. Had they been in front of me, I'm certain I could have felt it, if not cut the tension with a butter knife and still shiver in awe, hoping my man was close simply to calm my racing heart! Any reader looking for drama, romance, sexiness, and everything in between, then Imperfections is the perfect book to literally the book to crawl in bed with or without a fan and ice, and spend a few hours or a day or two simply enjoying how enticing Shaniel Watson has made this first novel of the Imperfections Series.

WOW JUST WOW! Catherine Reed has been in love with Nicolas her whole life, and she knows they have strong chemistry from the one forbidden kiss they shared when she was a teenager. She kept hoping he would ignore her overprotective brothers, and age difference, but he never did, so she left for New York with a broken heart. Four years later, she's moved back home, and this time she's determined to get her man. However, she's greeted with the news that her sister is engaged to the love of her life, the first night back. Successful Attorney, Nicolas Alexander, couldn't have the woman he wants. She's his best friends' baby sister so off limits. But none of the beautiful woman he's spent time with over the years could make him forget her. Now she's all grown up, and back home, but he's in the middle of huge complications in his life that could destroy them both. Will Nicolas finally get the chance to make her his? Or will Catherine become collateral damaged?!
This story broke my dramatic girly girl emotions switch, and I haven't been able to turn it off since. My heart was ripped out, set on fire, stomped on to get flames out, and I'm still waiting for it to be put back together again. Shaniel Watson's super talented writing style (can't believe this is her first book) has landed her a spot on the list of authors trying to kill me! Her twists and turns made for all kinds of jacked up OMG moments that nearly brought me to my knees. Oh the feels, the emotional feels and insane angst had me all twisted up, and I couldn't decide if I was mad as hell or going to cry like a baby, so I had tears flowing while calling her very bad names. The character development is great, with a highly entertaining cast of secondaries. Super sexy simmering chemistry ignites to SCORCHIN' HOT sexy scene goodness that added hot flashes to all the rest of my dramatic emotions. I'm so glad I have both books together or things could have gotten serious, as I would have never been able to wait without stalking the author with colorful metaphors! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
**Received an ARC in exchange for an honest review**
Bravo to this new author because she did such an outstanding job with this first book in the Imperfections series. I was hooked immediately. I absolutely adored it!
Cat and Nick have been friends since they were really young. Cat used to love hanging out with Nick and her brother Chris. They were four years older than her but she didn't care and neither did they. Cat has had a crush on Nick all her life and Nick started developing feelings for Cat once she started becoming a teenager, but he knew that he couldn't act on his feelings because of her brother and really, he knew he wasn't right for her and would eventually break her heart. Although Nick always knew in his heart that one day he would end up with Cat, one way or another.
As time passed and they became adults, Cat decides to come back home after being absent for four years and she comes back to find the shocker of her life, the man of her dreams is engaged to her sister. How messed up is that!! Cat came back home with the intentions and illusions of winning Nick's heart.
Nick knows he made the biggest mistake of his life by hooking up with Katie, Cat's sister. A manipulative, vindictive, piranha. Katie has always envied Cat and she's always wanted what Cat had.
Cat and Nick are in a predicament because not only does Cat and Nick have feelings for each other, but now he's tied to Katie even though he doesn't love her.
What can Nick and Cat do in order to be happy together? Can they make it work or will it be impossible for them to even try now that he's tied with her sister?
This relationship is definitely complicated I'll tell you that and one that will have you smitten throughout the whole book.
This book had me from the beginning and I'm telling you, I fell in love with both Nick and Cat. They were a perfect match made in heaven. They definitely had a tough road ahead of them and they definitely had their ups and downs and people trying to get in the way of their love.
This was my first time reading anything by Shaniel Watson and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this touching story. Ms Watson has given us a touching story that will suck you in and keep you there from start to finish ,and then will leave us wanting more from this author. This is Catherine "Cat" Reed's and Nickolas "Nick" Alexander's touching romance story. Cat is coming home after 4 years being away, but she's coming back to claim the man that she loves. And that is the one and only Nick ,because he's the only man she has ever cared about. And Nick has always loved her also but he ever do anything about it, because he was her brothers best friend and he knew he wasn't good for her, because he though he would break her heart sooner and later. But deep down Nick knew that one day she would be his. But when she arrives home she soon finds out that Nick is engaged to her sister Katie. But soon Nick realizes that he's made a mistake hooking up with Katie, because Katie has really always begin envied of Cat and she has always wanted everything Cat had. Katie is a piranha ,vindictive, and really knows how to manipulative anyone she can . Cat and Nick has a predicament now . So what will become of their love for each other? And Nick marry Katie or Cat? I could tell you what happens next ,but that would spoil it for you. I highly recommend that you read this touching story ,you won't be disappointed.
If you love a story filled with drama, love triangles, paternity tests, overbearing family members and friendship than Imperfections by Shaniel Watson is the story for you...
Catherine Reed returns home with a woman's body and clothes that accentuate her assets in the hopes of gaining the attention of the love of her life, who also happens to be her brothers best friend, when all hell breaks loose. With her sister Kate making the announcement to end all announcements Cat wonders if she was too late, if she should have told Nick how she felt sooner.
Nick has loved Cat for a long time, but has stayed away because her brother is his best friend. But when she returns from Canada he is ready to make his move...that is if Kate stays out of his way.
With Cat and Nick unable to keep their hands off each other, the sex scenes are smoking hot but it's the family dynamic that will keep you entertained throughout this book.
Does Nick really love Cat? Will Cat choose family over the guy she believes she has always loved? And will the cliff hanger make You wanna punch something and throw your kindle at the wall? You will need to read to find out!
Cat ( Catherine) is a young woman in her early twenties who has been friends with her big brother's best friend, Nick, for years but also harbouring a secret love for him. Nick always thought highly of Cat and was very protective of her. A chance meeting with Cat's older sister, Kate, sets a catastrophe in motion for everyone. Ava, Nick's cousin, adds a touch of humour and is a fun character. Nick, at times, frustrated me to no end! The lies by omission and outright lies turn things around, especially from Kate who is a particularly nasty character. I look forward to reading the next book.
I received and ARC from LLEP in exchange for an honest review. This is a debut novel from this author, therefore, I was not sure what to expect. I did find this book a tad confusing at times as there were so many different characters involved. Thus the four rating!! However, I did enjoy this book. Cat and Nick have known each other since they were children, as Nick is her brother’s best friend. The chemistry between them is off the charts. This book is a cliffy, and I look forward to reading the second book to see whether Cat and Nick get past the drama and have their own HEA.
This is a good drama romance book for sure. I have not read the second yet. But I hope she goes with Matt. Seriously if Nick can do that at the end of the book well screw him. She deserves someone better. He won't ever be faithful, he's a joke.
A book about two people attempting to rekindle a ‘what if’ romance should be an appealing read. Because it’s a second chance lost love trope. The plot, about two friends, losing contact over the years and after seeing each other again; wants to polish off what they started but they have major obstacles in their way should be a book that rises like a tower.
Unluckily, it didn't live up to the premise. I opine in this book everything and everyone appearances was detail except the main heroine Catherine Reed. I yet to know what she looks like and what race she really is. I conjecture the author omitted that for some unknown reason.
Anyhow, I'm digressing and moving on.
This book had an interesting concept, but the execution was atrocious. Nick and Cat are two couples that seemed to forget that they’ve entered adulthood. They both behave like making decisions that will impact other people was more important than being together.
Cat, the main character, was a person I considered was a relatable character, but after I got around to a good portion of the book, I instantly found her very annoying. Her backstory somehow didn't match a lot to what she was going through at that time - as a rebelling child, although she was pampered and cherished by practically everyone in this book.
I like that the author made it clear that what Nick and Kate(Cat’s sister ) shared was just a bad lapse in judgement and because of that mistake Kate got pregnant however Nick did not wanted to get hitched because he never love her at all.
That entails drama, two sisters, one man in between. I expect drama, a slight bit of angst but I didn't expect to spend most of the book with Cat muttering the same repetitions dialogue towards Nick the majority of the book. I don’t see why she feels she owed her sister Kate loyalty when, her sister held grudges towards her and was seldomly angry at everyone even though she was the one lying about a relationship that was merely a one night stand full of regret on Nicks part.
Cat indecisiveness and always running away from dealing with a problem we’re sort of cliches. It’s like she couldn’t draw up her mind to be with Nick and just be happy for herself. No, instead she’s constantly pushing him away and telling the same ole lines why they can’t be together.
I wouldn't have minded if Nick was in love with her sister, but he made that clear on every occasion that he does not want Kate. However Cat childishness was immensely incorporated at inappropriate times, as she couldn’t handle living her life for her and not her selfish sister.
The plot was stable, notwithstanding, at times it lacks a concise storyline. It’s really nerving having to follow a very immature character whine and do foolish things just because they are afraid to tackle a solvable problem. Cat had ample times to put love above everything yet refused because she felt she was offending her family.
I like a serious family drama book and the mother’s betrayal was an interesting twist. However the book bore cringe moments and some ok love scene, but eventually I simply couldn’t take reading the stupidity of both main characters mainly Cat.
So, do I recommend it? Plausibly, if you can look pass the characters immaturity and ridiculous reasoning as to why they simply can’t be together.
OMG! This is friggin' incredible!! Captivating, addictive, emotive, heart-breaking, breath-taking, breath-stopping, refreshing, sizzling panty-hot, frustrating, reader yelling at pages best book ever!!! Even that list isn't OTT for how I felt reading this book!! This is the best friend to lovers book I have ever read (and I am a book-whore so I have read lots). The intelligent insightful way that Shaniel has written this book is truly in a class all of her own. Each character has been perfected, loved and inspected, creating multi-faceted personalities of real people held inside the pages of Imperfections from her imagination. I love the title too - it encompasses all you can expect. Cat striving to achieve a happiness that is wrapped up in someone else she is strong, loving, caring, wanting what's right, when a situation is all so wrong. (I wonder if her need comes from being the youngest, knowing secrets, keeping them and holding it in her heart, where potentially she wonders about her own mortality and if parents truly wanted another baby - only Shaniel will know). Nick, big brothers best friend, strong, loving, caring and wanting what's right except he didn't say, he too wanted to do the right wrong thing. If he had just had the courage..... He's a powerhouse of emotion that rolls over those in his path, those that put themselves there on purpose, the ones he loves and the ones who dare to cross him or his loved. He is clever and passionate but makes me so mad!!! He had better make it up to me in the next instalment. I adore Ava!! She is a best friend personified - one we all want on our #1 speed-dial. I love her expertise at negotiating the lines between all her roles and the undaunted support that she gives. She fun, enchanting, energising but yet has a softness to be tender too. I got over halfway through this story before I popped it down, breathing hard and wondering if I could possibly stand not reading anymore. My stress-levels were riding higher and I am muttering and then arrrrrrggghhhhhh'ing at my Kindle. DON'T STOP!! You will miss out on one of the best fictional experiences of your life. The pages kept turning because I couldn't not know..... I have to know. So I have now finished said Imperfections and I take my hat-off and bow down to the talent of our authoress! She has created a work of art, made from love, from somewhere in her recesses of heart and imagination. Book 2 has already been downloaded and I await, desperate, hurting, hopeful and uncharacteristically quiet, mindful to achieve the correct beat of heart rate before delving back in again. I am tethered by my ankles to Shaniel Watson's publication so I will be undisturbed during my reading rituals. Just in case I didn't make it clear - I love this book, I think you will too! Do yourself a favour and download it!

After reading the third book in this series and enjoying it so much I decided to go back to the beginning. Shaniel Watson really brings the drama in ‘Imperfections’, it’s a four star read.
I have to admit I was a little unsure about this book when I read the blurb as although I don’t mind the best friend’s sibling, forbidden love stories or ones with cheating I do struggle a bit with the going after the partner of a sister. Maybe it’s because I grew up with two sisters and that is something that none of us would contemplate that I find it hard to digest but with that being said I actually really liked Catherine and Nicholas as characters and did in fact hate her sister.
After developing feelings for Cat as he watched her growing up Nick knew that he couldn’t act on it because she was too young at the time and he couldn’t cross his friendship with his best friend. Knowing that he would break her heart some way he decided not to pursue her.
Cat has feelings for Nick that she has kept hidden, knowing she can’t have him she things distance is the answer but after four years later she returns. When Cat returns she is horrified to find that Nick is with her sister Kate.
This tale is gripping, complicated and difficult to take in at times with just how dramatic it is. Full of regrets, passion driven and being pulled to one another Nick and Cat need to figure out how they can or cannot be in each other’s lives.

WOW! This book will keep you anticipating what an ALPHA male like Nick Alexander can do, with you, for you and to you! He's sexy, intoxicating and down right lethal in the courtroom and the bedroom.
One bad decision puts this man on a path he does not want to be on and the timing couldn't be worse.
Cat returns home after graduating from college. The first time she's been home and today of all days, her world is shattered. The only man she has ever loved is no longer available to claim as hers. Betrayal, lies, secrets, deceit, love, hate, grief and tragedy rains down upon these characters. Weaving family ties into a soul searching path for Cat and Nick. When time passes and the hurt begins to heal, a tidal wave of events push both Nick and Cat further apart. The love between these two will keep you from putting this book down before your finished. Enduring the pain of her family's betrayal, Cat is faced with surviving the fallout. A gut wrenching, emotional story allowing us to hope that a love so strong can and will overcome the devastating circumstances it finds itself in. Loved this!
Get ready for a rollercoaster ride of epic proportions.
I stayed up til two in the morning to finish this book, only to lay there thinking, WTF? How can you end it like this? But that aside, the story and the writing really were great. I am seriously hoping that we get more of this and that this isn't just the end for Cat and Nick. Because I would be so pi**ed if it was.
Cat decides its time to come home. Nick, the man she's loved since she was a kid comes to welcome her home.
But then her sister, Kate, decides her homecoming is the perfect setting for her bombshell. She and Nick are engaged.
Nick is furious, but smiles and accepts the congratulation. What no one knows, Kate and Nick had one night together and now she is pregnant. Nick wanted to wait on the paternity test and even then he'd told her he was only there for the baby, not Kate, but it looks like Kate wants to get one over on her sister, Cat.
What no one foresaw was that Cat and Nick would genuinely fall in love.
Then tragedy strikes and the truth about Cat and Nick cookies out. No one's life will ever be the same.
I thought the book was well written. One thing I did not like about the book is the ending. I thought it was rather abrupt. I thought the characters were fleshed out well. And the book held my interest to the end. However, I did not like it enough to want to read anything more written by this author. As much as it held my interest I didn't really like the subject matter. The two principle characters in the book are Nicholas Alexander and Catherine "Cat" Reed. I can't stand Nicholas Alexander he has got to be the biggest hypocrite. He can play around but he didn't like it when Cat did. He is also not very smart to be such a big time lawyer when it comes to knowing who should be off limits when he jumps into bed with some one. Cat is suppose to be his original "love." The one he can't live without. However he has sex with her sister and gets her pregnant. Not too smart. If I had been Cat I would have told him to get lost long ago. He also liked to tell Cat all about his conquests but when she told him about her experiences well he was so jealous he just couldn't stand it.

Not even opened the damn book and already clapping at the synopsis. Think I'm going to enjoy this one :)
So I started the book with high hopes... but about half way they started faltering.
The love triangle drags quite a bit for my liking and ended up skipping chapters to get to the conclusion of 2 parts (If Nick is the dad and how the family take the whole Nick/Cat thing)
I mean it wasn't all bad, when Kate went through her hell, I was tearing up for her but it's a shame there's so much between the parts you need to know that makes it all seem... pointless. Maybe I missed quite a few ding dong moments by skipping, but I just couldn't do it.
Basically, Nick got Kate pregnant from a 1 night stand. Cat shows up back at home after 4 years and Nick and Cat reignite theor spark, but Kate is Cat's sister...
Kate blurts out that she and Nick are engaged which isn't true and you get a sense of entrapment.
Why would you write such a story that both thrills and disappoints all at the same time? I felt sorry for late but she set that whole thing up with Nick. You can’t tell me otherwise cause she had to know just like her twin, Chris, that Nick loved her little sister, Cat. She even tried tip make it seem that Cat wasn’t ever coming back home and had a boyfriend where she was living at the time. But something tells me she knew Cat was coming home before she slept with him and that she got pregnant on purpose. I just hope that in the next book everything gets resolved with Cat and Nick. I also hope that her father forgives her and sees what was actually happening in his house. His wife treated his youngest daughter like crap all her life which makes me think she never wanted Cat to begin with. My thing with Cat’s mother is that she had no right to be upset about what Cat did compared to what she did. How can a family not notice that Nick never bothered to touch or even wanted to be anywhere near Kate? This is just one screwed up family matter in so many ways.
