What a story! Mbalo's memoir was a riveting and painful read. I cannot recommend it enough. In sparse language, she conveyed so much emotion, horror and fear, but also such brilliance and clarity, that I felt both anxious and interested reading every sentence. Her story will remain with me for the longest time. Five stars!

Wow, this certainly is 'a brave and powerful book’!! It gives one a very clear picture of life in her village, of what happened to her and how she has risen above all her experiences to inspire and motivate others. Sadly, this is the experience of far too many young women living in rural areas and townships in South Africa. A short, worthwhile read.
