It’s an interesting read, much of it focuses on designing and shaping the crook from various material. I would have enjoyed more on the lore of stick making, but from a practical viewpoint, this book is not bad. It covers most of what I already practice as a stick maker, but the detail on the individual crook making methods is interesting. A useful handbook to have at one's side.

An important book, which I'm sure will eventually be of historical value. It covers all the things you need to know to craft sticks, canes, crooks and more, from wood, horn, bone, antler, deer feet and synthetics. Suitable for those new to the craft and the more experienced. Especially useful for learning the working of horn and antler as it fully explains many varieties and the differences in working with these.
Sourcing materials, tools and equipment, working, assembling, finishing as well as miniature sticks and showing and exhibiting are all covered. A good index at the back and an appendix of tips. A wealth of information from a true craftsman. Thank you for recording your experience.
