This was a very fast-paced love story that can serve as a quick palate cleanser. A lot of the relationship building happens off page, so we’re mostly told about it rather than getting to fully see it unfold.
There isn’t much drama between the couple themselves. Most of the conflict comes from an outside situation involving the MMC and his daughter.
It’s a quick read and easy enough to get through, but nothing about it felt especially remarkable to me.
There are also a lot of callbacks to “Zeus” and “To Hades and Back,” so if you haven’t read those first, you might feel like you’re missing some context.
I like the way this author tells a story. She gives us drama, laughter, shady stuff, and loving parts, all in one story. This one was no exception. The motorcycle club and all that goes with that dynamic was told differently in this tale. The story was a good thing...
Mel Dau, oh my I swear you know how to spin a story. Thanks for giving us some good fun material. Im so glad to see one of my families have an update. Doc was ready when her blessing came. To see such compassion for someone that really seemed to not want it. Have to use the same person that you thoughtfully felt you never would need them. In the end all things worked together for the good. 🤗🤗🤗🤗
Yayyyy Hestia! She has always been the best aunt, sis, and sister in love. It was definitely time she had her share of unconditional love. Bread was a hard working man father son and provider. He was just missing his queen. Bread knew what he wanted and was relentless in his pursuit. Just goes to show what happens when you’re a good person and patient the right and real love will find you and it exists. 10/10
This book gives me mature vibes. The male lead is a single father with a healthy coparenting plan in place. He had some hiccups in the beginning but got it together before he decided what he wanted for his future.
Alexander/Bread is a financial advisor and is looking for "the one" to settle down. He relocates and joins a motorcycle club. His daughter now lives with him full-time.
Hesitate is a trauma surgeon that mentors other young girls who want to be surgeons as well. She is a part of a local motorcycle club as well.
Hectic and Alexander met at an event, and the attraction was evident. He pursued, and she answered. There was indirect drama that cause a little hiccup in theory journey.
Communication was key in their journey. Alexander was not interested in confusion of any kind.
Yes a BLP Series never disappoints but a Mel Dau book as part of that series will always have you ready to ignore the people around you and forget you have to be an adult and do things!!
My favorite people are back, the Basil Family and their were hints of my bestie’s family the Leota’s and those Smith-Washington’s cause Mel Dau’s books are just one big happy family!!
This late in life romance is everything with the right amount of laughter, crazy (Hades) and drama, that you will not be able to put it down.
Bread knew he found the one God made for him when her met Hestia in person, he had heard about her from his daughter who she was mentoring but when he saw her the rest was history.
So go ahead and add this book and series to your TBR you will not be disappointed!
When Bread and Hestia first saw each other at their MC event, the sparks were very obvious. It didn't take long for them to act on the chemistry. I loved everything about this book. From the characters to the storyline as well as the camaraderie and laughter, everything fit so well together. I especially loved the mentoring aspect. The fact that Hestia was Bread daughter's, Eloise, mentor first made the relationship between Hestia and Eloise all that more special once Bread and Hestia got together. I'm glad that the author spoke on what Black girls/women have to go through in life and in the workplace. I was happy that characters from previous books were included. I can't wait to see if Hera will finally get her HEA.
I did appreciate that this story featured some truly grown folks because sometimes I need a break from the young drama. But Alexander and Hestia’s relationship moved so fast and most of their connection happened off page, so I felt like I was being told they were deeply in love instead of really seeing it develop.
A big chunk of the story focused on Alexander’s baby mama situation, which ended up overshadowing the romance for me. I honestly wish we got more actual relationship moments between Alexander and Hestia because I never fully connected to either character. Overall, this one was an okay read and honestly felt more like a filler entry in the series.
I loved Bread and Hestia down! I was sad to hear about Jade and Dorian, but I hope she gets a serious lesson from this. I hope baby girl moves on well even if they eventually get back together. He can’t be the only now that his ass wanted to play. The only thing is….you cannot make me like Aaron. He did too much and allowed too much to be daddy and husband of the year that “deserves “ all this love and happiness. I roll my eyes every time he pops up with his funky ass happily ever after.
This was a quick read but it was so good. It held my attention from the first page and I couldn’t put it down. This was a grown folks story where Bread and Hestia meet and have an instant attraction, he pursues her with intention and they fall into a relationship. I loved that they weren’t playing games about their feelings and wants. I also loved Bread as a father. It was also nice getting updates on the other Basil siblings and their spouses. I’m looking forward to more stories from this family and associates.
Loved it, for this to be the third book in the saga, it makes me love this bunch of characters so much more. I def was looking forward to hestia having her own love and baby did it show up and show out. Bread did not waste anytime getting his woman and making it known that commitment was where shit was heading and Hestia knew he worth and was ready to accept that. Loved them together and her relationship with his daughter made it that much more amazing. I am interested to get the story on Dorian and Jade cause seems like might be a 2nd change type thing... 🤔 👀
Alexander a.k.a Bread is a man that is in want of only two things: to take care of his daughter and find the woman who is meant to be his wife. Enter Hestia, a renowned surgeon who has everything she has dreamed of except a child of her own. When their paths cross the attraction is immediate and undeniable. Their romance was solid from the start because they were both open to give and receive the love that they deserve. This was an enteraining read delivered in a way that only Mel Dau can.
I enjoyed this one from beginning to end. In true Mel Dau fashion, it is well thought out and well written with great characters and character growth. The message of this book, as well as the other two books in the series, are issues that need to be addressed. And as much as I enjoyed reading Doc and Breads' love story, Hades was my favorite character. Thank you, Mel Dau! Keep'em coming.
Yesssss, Bread and Hestia. Just like Hestia’s brothers, Bread (Alexander) does not play about her. I hollered when they all showed up at the motel. I loved how Hestia was a grown woman about every situation. There’s no need to get out of character, but you have to know she’s most definitely going to demand her respect. Bread was a grown man that knew what he wanted and took nothing less. I am loving this MC series.
MD has done it again with this biker book of love and family. Alexander "Bread" and Hestia were definitely crafted for one another professionally, mentally, and physically. The author blends family drama, love and chaos as smoothly and wild as the intimacy between the lovers. Worthy of five stars and weekend read.
Mel Dau does it again. I always love when this world comes together. The way Mel Dau is able to continue to weave other names from other series into all of her books is why I love this universe she has created. This book was cute because it was love that came easy and stayed strong. Great job!!
I was hoping Mel book took me back to Mt. O and KOK. A time was had because Hades is still my hot head. Hestia, queen, you shined in this one. I loved you and Alexander to pieces. You and the other women speaking life and success in those young women was remarkable. You helping Melanie was boss woman mentality for real.
Whew, with these two together, Dr. Hesitate Basil and Alexander Conner II, love looked good on them. No games and intentions made known. They flowed and jelled together perfectly.
I loved the respect that was held between the two, how she loved on Elosie, and her acceptance & thoughtfulness to helping Elosie's mother, in her time of need, regardless of what Bread thought.
Beautiful story, love story about two grown up mature adults. It was great to catch up with some characters from the previous books. Will Jade get to tell her story? Please😉😉. This story touches on domestic violence. Hestia Basil and Alexander/Bread Connors didn't play about each other. Kudos to the author 👏🏾👏🏾
This was a great read as with all the book. Bread found his person and the both of them were really for it all. I'm glad he stepped up to the plate correctly and was spot on with his woman. His daughter had a mentor that became her stepmother and she gained a best friend in the program.
This was a really quick good read… I love the Bail family and the Mt. O’s so it was definitely refreshing to see Hestia get her happily ever after with Bread. I loved him for her so much because he was mature and about his money and about her. i love these motorcycle club families so much and I can’t wait for Hera and what’s going to happen with Jade
What a great storyline. The main characters are succesul professionals no longer playing stupid games. For both... it was when you know you know. There is drama and plenty of spice. Another winner for the author.
The was a great love story. I can see other stories coming from the characters in this book. Mel you did an outstanding job on this book. Everyone stop what you are doing and read the love story it was fire.
I was soo glad to see the Basil’s back. I love them Mt. O riders. Especially the women. Love to see a strong FMC get her soft girl life. Really enjoyed this book. Please read it.
The book was hilarious. I laugh throughout the whole book. There were some serious moments but overall great book. Mel Dau knows her pen game is off the hook. We love all her books. I recommend the book.
A great love story between accomplished adults with love for motorcycles and family! Bread and Hestia complimented each other, but I truly enjoy Hestia being a strong woman who knows that she's a woman first! I want to read more about Bread & Hestia!
Bread was a grown man's man who knew what he wanted and Hes was a independent, educated woman who knew how to submit when the right one came along. Love love love this book!
This telling had the right amount of drama and romance and sophistication with hood. Beautifully written! Thanks for this one! The encouragement to be successfully melanated was also the huge bonus.
This was a super good read! I can’t wait to read a book about jade! Hesta played no games about her man. Their relationship was easy and I loved that for them. I was glad that Melanie got it together
