Sometimes, believing the lies we tell ourselves is easier than dealing with the truth.

Once, I wanted to die. That was the night I met Guy.

The strange man with flowers stepped from the shadows and saved my life.

Guy. Dimpled smile. Body of a surf god. Smart and funny. Running out of time.

We became travelling companions through life, ticking off items on our bucket lists.

"Do I make you feel like living?"

Omnia Causa Fiunt. Everything happens for a reason. That simple phrase encompasses and means so much more. There will be moments in our life where we will question the loss, the hurt, the heartache, the pain, the what if moments, and so many others. Friends may come and go. New strangers may appear in your life and change you. Fate could be leading you to a different direction and open your eyes to a who

Every so often, you come across a book that leaves a mark. Not necessarily because it's the sexiest, dirtiest, darkest, or even most romantic. But because it touches you in a way other books haven't. Perhaps it hits at something you recognise, or something you don't want to recognise, or maybe it just makes you realise that there are others out there who have struggles too, even if they are fictional. It still leaves it's mark, and sticks in your mind far longer, than the same books you read day

Wow! That definitely left a mark.

The Same Deep Water is absolutely wonderful!!! I was happy, sad, smiling, and crying all at once. I couldn’t tell which way the story would end up going. I wanted to read fast to get to the HEA, but I also wanted to read slow in case there wasn’t one.

Guy and Phe’s relationship is born from a less than conventional situation. They embark on bucket list adventure that turns into something much more exciting and scary…. Love. That certainly wasn’t part

Before going into this book, I would just like to warn everyone that this book does touch on some tough subjects that might be hard for some people to read. This book does have a lot of sad elements, but it does have some equally happy parts as well. I would just like everyone to keep that in mind before reading this book.

The plot of this book was very emotional. There was a sense of almost dread this entire book, because even though there were happy parts, sadness was always lingering in the ba

The Same Deep Water teaser

**Review**
The Same Deep Water is an intriguing, thought-provoking, realistic, and somewhat raw portrayal of mental illness. It makes you think about life and it makes you feel for the characters in the story.

The book opens with Phe, a young woman who is battling severe depression after a life-changing event in her childhood. She doesn’t believe that life is worth living anymore and is on the brink of suicide. While preparing to throw herself off a cliff, a random man appears by her s

My Rating: 5 Coffee Cups!!

This book floored me. Really and truly it did. I read this book in a matter of a few hours. I literally started it only moments after I saw it arrived on my Kindle and didn't stop until it was finished. And then I immediately turned around and asked if it was OK if I posted my review earlier than planned. It hit me that hard. I needed to digest the story and then immediately spew my love for i

First of all this cover of The Same Deep Water is just absolutely gorgeous. If you don’t think that then you are a total idiot…. No offence! Now this book was so totally different than what I’m used to. It is unique, intriguing and realistic and has a raw portrayal of mental illness. I don’t normally like books like this but that changed soon enough. This book made me think about life and I had so much emotions for the characters i

A thought provoking look at pain and sadnesss and the struggle of two people to overcome it.

From the very first page of this book, I knew I was in for an emotional ride. Phe and Guy meet on the edge of a cliff. One with clear intentions, the other, not so much. Their initial meeting is intense and sad, but Guy makes a difference that changes the course of Phe's life.

During their brief meeting, Guy convinces Phe to create a bucket list like his own. If you understand what a bucket lists

The Same Deep Water by Lisa Swallow has left a sour taste in my mouth. The reason being is I don't  like  a liar and Guy is just that.

Phe is a young woman trying to rid herself of the demons that haunt her. She's fed up and ready for the next world until Guy shows up to save the day. At the cliff's edge she meets the guy that's  going to change her unfortunately  he has his own demons.

Together they work on their bucket lists and go on conquering them together. Phe is under the impression  Guy

Insightful, heartwarming, heartbreaking and an extraordinarily beautiful love story.

I may not have the biggest words to explain how The Same Deep Water changed my standards for books. Lisa Swallow has displayed pure excellence in this book. The connection between me, the reader, and Guy and Phe, her characters has been built strongly and I don't know if I can even let go of them soon.

The Same Deep Water was a unique and different take on the story of love, overcoming life's challenges, and finding a future. This my first read by Lisa Swallow, and I am so happy I took the chance on Phe and Guy’s story.

The Same Deep Water is the kind of book that leaves a huge life impact, an impression from quotes that we could all live by. The story is so thought provoking and could inspire anyone to live life the best way, with no regrets, taking risks and finding yourself.

In this story you meet Phe and Guy. They meet under rather unusual circumstances. Phe is on the edge of a cliff, wanting to end her life. Guy manages to make her see that things are not as bad as they may seem. Though Phe is reluctant and Guy is persistent, he eventually persuades her to make the most out of their life by creating a bucket list. He is also determined to become travel companions to complete the ones they have in common. As they complete their lists, they open their hearts and get ...more

A book that will leave you touched in a way no other has...

The Same Deep Water by Lisa Swallow is a book that, other than reading the blurb, I had no real idea what I was going to be letting myself in for. Well, I can tell you, this is probably one of my favourite books for 2015.

I was lucky enough to win an ARC of an highly anticipated book from this awesome author. This is my 5 star review.

For millions of people, living with a mental illness it's a struggle each and every day and a great challenge. Mental issues are not always well understood. Society frowns on what's called different from the normal behaviour. But what's normal? People with a mental illness often live in isolation.

This story is different from what I've rea

Firstly, I want to say how amazing this book cover is - it is definitely going on my cover crushes list. The Same Deep Water by Lisa Swallow is set in the land down under , which I thought since I am from New Zealand - Australia is only across the ditch and I quite like reading australian based books that I would enjoy it more than I did , unfortunately for me the pace of The Same Deep Water is quite slow and I found it hard to get into and follow as my mind kept drifting away. Every once and a while a book comes along that really does make a reader invest not only their time reading it, but their mind, heart and emotions as well. The Same Deep Water was the most recent book to do that for me. This is a story about Phe and Guy.

Lisa Swallow has done it again! She is the kind of writer who pulls you in to the story, so much so that you feel what the characters are feeling. You cheer them, hate them, and commiserate with them. This book will have your heart breaking for both Phe and Guy.

Ok, so for those of you that have read any of Lisa Swallow’s other books you will see this is very different.

Guy is a complex character. The best way I can think to describe him is to borrow a phrase from Shrek. He is like an onion.

What a profound, well-written, book. Not only this book touches a sensitive subject but it encompasses around realistic (and emotional) situations.

The Same Deep Water is a new adult romance set in Australia. This is the story of two people living in the present and accidentally creating a future neither of them can see, and learning ten things on a bucket list are just the edge of the world they could have.
