It took me 5 years to get to read one of the "Before Watchmen" installments because the risk/benefit ratio was just not worth it. What would it add? What was left to say?

The answer, sadly and predictably, is : not much. Len Wein dutifully pens an origin story and connects the dot to take us right up to Watchmen, not having brought anything substantial in the process. I won't blame him but the concept for this : I doubt he had any leeway to take any risk with the franchise.

So maybe the graphic tr

This prequel strengthened my conviction that Watchmen - probably my favourite comic/graphic novel ever - should have been left alone. Ozymandias mostly just spells some things out that were already implied sufficiently in the original comic by Alan Moore - and turns the main character into a superhuman, nearly emotionless robot in the process. Nice drawings, though.

Better than expected. Particularly enjoyed the backstory going back to childhood, heading to Turkey to train, and Adrian's actions following The Comedian's proclamation that it all doesn't matter if Ozymamdias is the smartest man on a nuked planet.
