Calling to mind "Futurama" by way of House of Leaves, Tangerinephant is the ambitious first novel from Kevin Dole 2. In the opening we meet Michael Tangerinephant, whose life has been falling apart due to being abducted by TV-addicted aliens, being the fall-man for a corporate scandal, and being in trouble with his prostitute girlfriend (complete with vagina implants in her armpits).

I've got half of one shelf of my TBR bookshelf that is dedicated to absurd/experimental fiction, I usually enjoy it in small doses and this one was only about 150 pages with lots of white space so I grabbed it right before heading out for vacation.

An interesting, experimental, and thoroughly enjoyable read if you like science fiction and a healthy dose of the bizarre. It loses some of its momentum in the middle and immersion is a bit difficult at first, but its size keeps it from being daunting and its pacing makes you turn the page. I recommend this to any speculative fiction fan looking for something a little different.
