The Author by Facundo Raganato is a book which is difficult to categorise - on the one hand a fantasy adventure, on the other hand a philosophical guidebook. It touches upon spirituality, including every religion, in a vague and rambling manner, with insights which I would suggest are not as unique as the author would like to believe, but still succeed in being thought provoking. The characters in the book are intriguing, but the pedantic nature of the narrative hampers proceedings somewhat. ...more

It has been said that writing a book is like giving birth – to a story, to characters with personalities, to dialogue, to scenes, to action – all resulting in a climactic end – the birth of a new book lovingly presented to the world. And al

From the Broadkill Review

Facundo Raganato’s surrealistic novel, The Author or The Characters Short Living Story, from Harvard Square Editions is a metaphysical exploration of the meaning of life, and the trappings of reality. The Author is in the great tradition of Luigi Pirandello’s Six Characters in Search of an Author, an absurdist play where the characters seek meaning from their director, and question their reality. This kind of surrealistic philosophical romp plays well on stag

They say that authors love controlling their characters and they love nothing more than to torture them and kill them off if necessary. But readers might not know that there is a cardinal rule with writing that all authors must adhere to: writers must remain true to their characters. For characters to be real people, they can only do certain things certain ways and some things they simply cannot do, for it is “not part of their character.”

The Author or The Characters' Short Living Story by Facundo Raganato reveals a search for truth, self, trust, and wisdom. It is a curious read with an unusual premise. This book is an utterly human, pensive, and philosophical endeavor. It follows six disparate characters as they search for an exit from the dark, dreamlike world they've awoken in. They are unable to remember their past and unable to understand the present. You, the reader, bring these individuals to life as they learn to trust on

It's rare to find a book with a cast of characters (six) who embark on a spiritual journey together; and rare to find these protagonists so diverse in their perspectives and needs - but The Author ~or~ The Characters' Short Living Story is such a story, and is a recommended pick for readers who want to follow along in a search for truth and wisdom.

Much like Carlos Castaneda, Joseph Campbell, or other mystical travelers, The Author provides the questions (in the form of its characters

Six characters in this story, stuck in a house they cannot escape from, is someone trying to kill them? Why can they not remember their past?

This story is unlike anything I have ever read before. It is very clever, it is about a story already written, about the characters in the story, but it is taking us the reader on the journey as the story unfolds.

The author describes in detail what is happening, the characters question the things happening to them. It gives you a loo
