I picked this up based on a recommendation, and thought it was fantastic. Lots of great humor and characters here, as well as general quirkiness. The book is about serious topics but doesn’t take itself seriously, and as a result it’s a rollicking fun read. I really like this author’s writing, she’s introduced just the right balance of mystery and humor and great characters to keep me turning the Kindle pages. I finished after 3 sittings, which is pretty rare for me. Being a guy, I was a little ...more

This mystery moves fast and provides a good time for the reader by offering up frequent bursts of humor. It takes place mostly in San Diego, which is a rare setting for novels of any time, though parts of it are set in Los Angeles, too.

I don't read many mysteries, so this was a fun romp through new territory. I trust you will find it enjoyable, too!

I chose this book when I read that it would be interesting to fans of Stephanie Plum or Izzy Spellman. Well Izzy is one of my favorite PI's, and Stephanie is always fun, so I decided to give it a try. Boy am I glad I did! This book took me on a wild adventure with Lola Vega, an attorney turned PI in the LA area. At the brink of running out of money, she is hired to prove a suicide of a famous actor was really a murder. What would have been an interesting job on it's own is further complicated wh ...more

Lola hardly starts her investigation until her employer also turns up dead. With the help of Stone’s psychic guide and drop dead gorgeous police Detective Michael Escobar, Lola turns Los Angeles upside down in search of the killers. Her activity draws the attention of professional killers and, yes…wait for it, cir ...more

The Last Four Digits by Julie Leo is an action packed mystery. Lola Vega, an ex-attorney turned detective, is investigating the suspicious suicide of actor Jack Stone. Lola has her work cut out for her because Stone has a lot of ex-wives to talk to and a missing will. Lola teams up with physic Molly O’Reilly and attempts to solve Stone’s death all the while avoiding the mafia and her attraction to Detective Michael Escobar.
Julie Leo did a good job on this book. In The Last Four Digits there is s

Suicide or Murder? Who or what killed the movie star, Jack Stone? That's what Lola Vega is trying to figure out in hopes of getting a generous settlement to make this month's rent. But this case may not be so easy to crack because, to add another strange twist, it seems Jack Stone may have been involved in the practices of séances and witchcraft. It would seem that he's been trying to find his sister's killer. Fascinating.

At first, it would appear that Lola is just another amateur sleuth, but sh
