*My Thoughts*

Undercover Empath is the first part of a serial called Kindred Demon. The next installment releases in July according to the publisher. This is a very short story that crosses mystery and paranormal genres. The story does what it is supposed to. It lays the foundation and introduces the characters who will be at the forefront of the series. The main character is 19-year old Rose Hansen. Rose is a detective for the Blush Valley, California police forc

The series features 19-year old Rose Hansen who is the youngest Detective in the Blush Valley, CA police force having graduated from HS at the age of 14. What makes her stand out even more, is that she has the ability to read another persons intentions by touching them. When last we left Rose in Kindred Demon, she had agreed to go undercover as a stripper in order

Undercover Empath: Kindred Demon by RaShelle Workman is a fantastic fantasy that had me up most of the night finishing the book. This book has everything and it gets you hooked! Lots of different mysteries to figure out. The handsome guy who keeps coming to her house leaving clues for her (and half dressed). The FBI guy that is attractive and kind but is hiding something that could be dangerous. Oh, and there is that serial killer possessed by a demon killing girls. Also, it is decided that Rose ...more

When I first heard about this book, RaShelle was pitching it as Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Bones and I knew immediately that I needed this book in my life. Especially since it's one of RaShelle's book, and I haven't been disappointed by one of them yet! It's certainly different from the books in her Blood and Snow world, but it's still a great read from RaShelle. I also love that it is different since

Undercover Empath: Kindred Demon is the first book in the New Adult paranormal series, Undercover Empath. I really like how well the covers of the series go together. They are almost identical but in different colors. And they are each really pretty. It follows detective Rose Hansen who can determine anyone's intentions with the slightest brush of her hand. It is a gift that Rose shies away from, but it is really usef

2.5 crowns.

Rose Hansen has the ability to read a person's intentions through contact through the hands, which has led her to lead a fairly difficult life. However, she decided to use it to her advantage and become a homicide detective. When a strange individual comes to her and gives her a lead to something that would open many doors, a homicide occurs.

A very interesting concept, there are supernatural elements with vampires and others who have 'abilities' but there is very little world buildin

I was surprised at how quickly I was able to read this book. I liked Rose as a character and I felt that her reluctance to touch people came across really well and I found it really easy to empathise with her as a character.

It was interesting to see the relationships that Rose had with the other detectives on the police force. I did feel that telling her to go undercover just like that wasn’t a good

The cover artist did a bang up job on the book cover. It attracted me with its harmonious colour combinations. And it also denotes the personality of the heroine, Rose in my view. She is as colourful as the image with the different sides to her character.

Rose is a well developed character with her tough as nails detective image on one side and her vulnerability on another side. She stands out among the cast of people in the book while Vincent seems lik

I was lucky enough to read an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, thanks to RaShelle Workman.

This fast paced story centres around Rose, a young cop who is also an empath, able to see other peoples intentions via touch. Haunted by the death of her parents & still trying to solve the case of who killed them, a mysterious stranger pays her a visit. Rose is also trying to catch a serial killer and contend with going undercover in a job that is very different from her normal day j

I received a read to review copy of this book from the publisher.

I enjoyed Undercover Empath: Kindred Demon. It's a great start to what I am hoping will be a great series. There were a few copyedit issues that threw me off during reading (Hansen vs Hanson, Cinnamon calls her Rose instead of her undercover name or stage name that she was just given, she claims Sugar was a spur of the moment thing but the guy with the clipboard called her that, etc.), but the story was great and made you want to

I really loved this book. After reading the authors blood and snow series I didn't think it could get any better. The author has created a new world for us in this first book of a new series. I loved the interaction between the main characters. I thought Rose was an awesome character, the kind you love and want to get to know more about. I loved the world building in this first book and all the mystery. I really didn't want to story to end, I cant wait to read the next in this series and see whe ...more

Kindred Demon is the start of RaShelle Workman’s Undercover Empath series. Our protagonist is plucky nineteen-year-old Rose Hansen, who has a mysterious gift that allows her to see a person’s intentions when she touches their hands. She seems surprisingly well-adjusted for a person who has vis

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review and I have to say that I'm intrigued ;) initially I requested it, because it sounded pretty cool... ;) I mean, paranormal vibes, a heroine with special abilities plus bunch of sexy guys... sounds good to me ;) and I'm really glad I did it, cause I thoroughly enjoyed this story... :) it was my first book written by this author, but it definitely made me curious about her other work :) but for now, let me tell you w ...more
Let's say 2.5/5 because it really started to pick up at the end. Unfortunately, I have more complaints about this book than I do compliments.

Mostly my problems stem from small little holes here and there. Plot holes? Nah but definitely things I would consider not thought of--

⭐According to the summary Rose is 19 but in the book it says she is 20... unless I completely read that wrong. Dates and ages aren't said in the beginning in the descriptive parts but way later in the book. I actually couldn

I’m not sure what’s going on with the publisher these days but they keep sending me one out of many for a serial series with no mention about how this is actually part one out of like 4 or 5 parts or something. And Goodreads also doesn’t have any mention about how there are multiple parts so once again, I didn’t find out until the very end. I did find out that this part that I read is part 1 but it does not feel like part one at all. It doesn’t have the typical storybuilding or character buildin ...more

Flaunting a mixture of paranormal, mystery and good old fashioned cop intuition, this is a book which captures the attention in so many ways.

Rose is a cop. A good one. She's got a troubled past but deals with it fairly well. Her biggest secret lies in her ability to read a person's true intentions with the single brush of a finger. Since such special 'abilities' don't really mix with real life detectives, she keeps this a secret and simply avoids touching anyone. Of course, there's a reason for

Kindred Demon gave me the same feeling of Lilith Saintcrow’s Dante Valentine series! The vibe of a badass female with a certain mission!

Seeing such a young protagonist gave me quite a shock. Usually it would be about 20 plus? A shock is a shock, but it’s also rather refreshing!

There are several things that confused me when I read this. Hmm…I think the correct term would be a…Love Rectangle?

I found this book to be a really fun and engrossing read. The characters in the book were also very interesting and I hope to see them in future installments because I would like to know more about everyone. It was well-written and had an interesting plot. The only thing I had trouble with was Rose’s age. At one point, the book said she was 28 and in the description it said she was 19. I know she was a genius and graduated early, but I would have found early- to mid-twenties a better age for her ...more

I really didn't think this novel was going to amount to much at the start and it took me quite awhile to get halfway through. However, at that point the action picked up and I finished the other half in just a few hours.

We start off with the cliche heroine who has paranormal powers and tries to never use them. Out of nowhere a half naked man shows up and gives her a stake and clues about her parent’s deaths.

RaShelle Workman is one author whose books I automatically pre-order, regardless of their genre. To be honest, if she wrote an instruction booklet for watching paint dry, I’d one-click it!
Undercover Empath is immediately striking because of its take-your-breath-away cover, but the story inside is not so pretty! This is a new adult novel in which we encounter murder, sacrifice, torture and demon possession.

Undercover Empath: Kindred Demon started out with the murders of strippers. Rose Hansen, a detective of the Blush Valley Police, is only 19 years old is assigned to the case with her partner Jack. Above all, both have to work with a FBI agent who Rose has a hot for.

The matter just started to get worse when the hot FBI agent asked Rose to go undercover as a stripper to case a serial killer, who just happened to be possessed by a kindred demon.

I have to say this story just got very interesting but

Detective Rose Hansen has always known she was different. She graduated high school at 14 and Harvard by 18. She made police detective in under six months, the youngest ever to do that at 19. As a general rule, she doesn't like anyone to touch her. Most find it odd about her and don't know what the deal is with it, but every time someone touches her, their intentions filter through her mind. It is almost too much for her to handle.

Rose is 19 years old and is an empathy (can read a person’s intentions by the touch of their hands). Rose is also a very young cop who is very good at what she does. While investing the murder of her parents, Rose is asked to go under cover for another case and work as a stripper (Rose is not your typical girly girl—she doesn’t even own a dress lol). There is also possible demon’s involved in this case and it up to Rose, her partner Jack and FBI Agent Vincent

OOOO I love the paranormal genre! I liked the characters in this story especially Rose! She is strong, smart, over achiever, and tough on herself. The guys are plenty and there is a one for every type. This many male prospects will lead to some interesting love options and triangles later on in the series. I liked the plot it was interesting and kept me reading. The pace was good not to slow or fast. The plot was filled with magical elem

I'm confused by this story. I'm not sure if a 19 year old detective is believable. If I could have stopped thinking about her being only 19, I think it would have been better.

But then the rest of the story was just weird. Like her parents. The angel. The FBI agent. (Whom I'm not sure I entirely trust. Something is up there).

I'm not sure how I really feel about his story.
