I really should know better when it comes to very short volumes purporting to tell the story of a complex monarch. I have made this mistake in the past and am not sure what I was thinking when I grabbed this one after seeing it advertised on Book Bub. Luckily, I do not think it was more than ninet

A short but efficient examination of Henry VIII from birth to death. Henry has fascinated most of us brits from schooldays for his six wives. As a king, statesman and supreme politician he left something to be desired. He was self centred, a bully and in his personal life a glutton and a man solely responsible for the murder on common and noblemen alike.

Life lived to the fullest.

Henry VIII lived a long tumultuous life. His quest for adventure, love and legacy resulted in many futile quests. He sought happiness and fulfillment. However he reeked havoc on many men and women of his time.

Meh, very shallow. Mostly about his wives and not the political atmosphere

Interesting read

Have only within the last few years really started to learn about Henry VIII. This book gave a lot of interesting information on the King and his wives. I am mostly familiar with his second wife, Anne Boleyn, and enjoyed more on Catherine of Aragon.. Would have liked more about his widow, Catherine Howard. Seemed a bit rushed by the time she arrived on the scene. But all in all, I enjoyed the book.

An Interesting account of the story of a great King.

A nicely and interesting account of the story of a King who changed not only his Kingdom, but also his separation from Church, naming himself Head of the Religious guide of his Countrymen, and all to suit his purpose. All of this made a very interested time in History and to me a good and Entertaining read.

Informative, enjoyable

This book was a joy to read, enjoying anything about Henry viii like I do. This book does not read like a novel , but a fast moving, accurate , interesting biography of Henry , his wives and the times they lived in. I thoroughly enjoyed it, reading it in two days. I had trouble putting it down.

I love anything to do with the Tudor court so when I ran across this Gem I gobbled it up quickly. Its definitely on the smaller side when it comes to books about Henry VIII but I feel that Archer hit on many of the important and popular events. This book was quick and is definitely something you could read if you where casually interested in this story!!! Loved it!

A brief synopsis of his life but quite readable and with references to other authors which can easily be explored for further detailed biographies.
