I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Please, don’t get my rating wrong. This book has a lot of things going for it, but it’s just not for me. Thus why I gave it the 2-star rating for “it was okay.”

The plot moved a little too slowly for my tastes. I was interested at first, but there’s a solid chunk in the beginning/middle that I can’t even remember what really happens. Like the book blurb says, the main character does investigate the supernatural world and she doe

This book had an unconventional concept where Allie stumbles onto the paranormal due to her investigations and I was eager to read her story. My imagination went wild and I expected a big reveal, manipulations, a conspiracy or two, something fast paced filled with adventure. My thoughts after finishing the book -

The Good
The Men in Allie's Life
Allie is in a less than satisfactory relationship but her life is not as hopeless as it seems. There is a new potential relationship brewing in the backgrou

Starts out slow, like 3/4 th's of the book has less to nothing paranormal in it, but the last part is full. Its a slow builder for book 2. Altho given the slow start i really enjoyed it and wasnt bothered.

To be brutally honest, I really liked this book. I enjoyed the way the author played with this reader's mind. The story would rush forward, then a brief lull to gather my senses and then: Bam!

I have a second love in reading right after scifi and that is the paranormal. This book kind of blends the two, just as all paranormal books should do.

As with all new authors I read who plan a series, I will withhold a "fifth: star until i have read the next book.

Highly suggest you read this book.

I received this book for free in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Overall this was a really good book. But I think that it was a little to fast paced. I mean, one minute Carter is just some regular human who kidnapped Allie. But then he was a vampire who kidnapped Allie to get to the vampire Sorell, who is by the way the Prince of the vampires of America! Is it just me or is it fast paced? There is a good character set up, with the brooding romance between Allie and Ben. But then there is t
I received a free advanced reading copy in exchange for my review.

I wasn't really sure what to expect from this novel. It's a mix of romance and fantasy, but it's not a paranormal romance novel.

mild-spoiler summary: the first 70% of the novel is casually paced, focusing on her relationship with her grandfather, her fiancee, and her best friends. The last 30% is the main fantasy portion.

I would have enjoyed it more if the secrets were revealed throughout the novel instead of all at once. There w

I was really excited about this book. After I read the introduction, I was looking forward to an adult version of those young-adult books, which has an interesting unorthodox base idea, maybe a part-fantasy world with magical creatures or characters with supernatural abilities. Well, it certainly had some magical and supernatural aspect and story. There were quite a few well-built character and a story, which usually is missing from those YA, but no more word of them. But this book just somehow ...more

I loved this book !!
When I read the blurb I expected a run of the mill vampire novel or something similar. But the author refreshingly offers a real story. Mostly the book builds up Allie's character. It starts with her failing relationship, her sudden headaches and her dying grandfather. Nothing seems to be working out for her.
Strange things are happening. And she dsnt have any answers.
She is suddenly plunged in a different world and comes to realise a completely different side of the people

NOTE: This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

First, I just have to say that this has been the best novel sent to me for review so far. The author has a way with words that will leave you reeling. I was stuck in a horrible limbo between not wanting to put the book down, and never wanting it to end.

The characters of this book are so well written. The main female, Allie, is a spunky, confident woman that isn't up herself in the least. Never once does she mention tha

I read this book in exchange for an honest review. Here goes, I'm not a fan of stories written in first person, that being said, the author did a very good job of keeping the I's to a minimum. The story was well paced and the world believable with rich descriptions. I grew up in NY and could relate to the city vibe and places she used, they were spot on.
Personally, I would not call this a paranormal romance, more like a paranormal with some romantic elements. The story is mostly about Allie’s l

I really wanted to liked this. I just didnt for various reasons. It got mixed reviews and those always make me nervous but I started to read it anyways. I pushed through it all. I love UF and this was a bit of a mess! The plots were too many. Most of the book was about her relationships in her life and maybe some of it was about the main plot. Just didnt sing for me. Allie was so freaking indecisive. Enough to bother my opinion about her. Allie's got a bit of a mess on her hands and I did feel f ...more

From the blurb, I thought this was just going to be another vampire novel, but I was pleasantly surprised when other atypical paranormals were added in. Since I feel bad for being the third person who rated this and not giving it 5 stars, the main reason I docked it one star was all the guys seemed to be in love with Allie and I admit I got a little eyeroll-y about it. But my typical rating on Goodreads tends to be around a 3 (liked it), so I liked this more than average. It's certainly better t ...more

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review…

I don’t know where to begin. I am in love with Allie and this story. What an amazing women! What an amazing story! If you are a “Twilight” fan you will love this book. I cannot wait for more!

Allie hasn’t had an easy life and CJ Flynn brings her to life. With each page turn you are given clues that there is more, but you never really find out what more there is till the end. Extremely well written and just a wonderful read. This book has it

I really liked this book!

Most urban fantasy books skip rather quickly from real world into fantasy. But not The Watcher's Daughter. Throughout most of the book the main character Allie doesn't really believe in the paranormal. Some may not like the slow build up, but I found it refreshing. It does however leave you wanting at the end.. in a good way - not really a cliffhanger, but I can't wait to read what happens next. The book is well put together, the language fluid. All in all a positive re

Alexandrie Stuart is trying to cope with her beloved grandfather gradually losing touch with reality because of his dementia. She also suffers with terrible headaches that cause her to see flashes of colours around certain people. There are two men that are helping her. The best friend of her ex, and her grandfather's doctor. She also writes a blog about investigating the paranormal, not that she really believes in it. There is no such thing as Vampires and Witches, is there ????

The majority of the book is occupied with relationship breakup, grandfather being rapidly ravaged by Alzheimer's, main character's coping mechanisms. It then transitions into something of an urban fantasy. Hope the next book in the series shows marked improvement.
