This is a VERY basic guide. If you know anything about CSC or SA, you will not need to read this. You might ask someone who knows *nothing* about CSC/SA to read the book, and then they will still have questions.

One of my textbooks but it counts. If you’re a SANE, an aspiring SANE, of have any questions about forensic nursing pertaining to sexual assault, this book is for you. Short, to the point, and very informative.

Michelle Ditton, RN and Laurie A. Gray, JD's The ABC's of Sexual Assault is a guide to the medical protocol and legalities following a sexual assault. The book covers everything from basic human anatomy and definitions of sexual assault, to the response, reporting, and courtroom proceedings that occur in its aftermath. Excellent book! The ABC's of Sexual Assault was very readable, extremely informative, and held my rapt attention for hours at a time! Learning about the nuances of forensic nursing techniques, legal protocols, and courtroom procedures was a totally new and very enlightening experience for me!

As a physician reading the book, I felt that health, criminal justice, and legal professionals could all learn a great deal from the book without feeling "talked down to" by the authors, who presented a weal

This is an incredible resource for those who work with victims of sexual assault. It provides a strong foundation of the basics of trauma-informed care, the courtroom experience and the aftermath of an assault. If you work with victims in the role of a sexual assault nurse examiner, victim advocate or social worker, I highly recommend this resource. It's also a great read for your new employees, sexual assault response team members and program volunteers.

This book would also serve as a great re

Wow! This book is a must-read for anyone in the field of child protection or the investigation of sexual assaults. The authors very clearly outline the ins-and-outs of sexual assault investigations and subsequent prosecutions. I learned a great deal about how sexual assault does... and importantly does NOT... present itself from a physical/medical standpoint. Kudos to authors Michelle Ditton RN and Laurie Gray JD for compiling such an excellent resource tool for investigators, law enforcement, m ...more

This book is SO informative it should be required reading by everyone. When you consider the high percentage of people who have been or will become victims of sexual assault this book tells everyone involved exactly what to expect even prior to the first moment of assault to the investigation and eventual trial. Knowledge is power, and this book provides both, helping all involved to understand what is happening and why it's happening. The informative way the book is written is easy to understan ...more
