It's obvious you're really proud of your son (you should be) and want to do something nice for him! Whether any book will suit, is always a matter of personal taste. Immortal Flame (and the entire Hell to Pay series) contains very dark undertones and themes of good vs. evil, love overcoming insurmountable odds, and has scenes of violence which could disturb sensitive readers. The love story includes detailed descriptions of sex that most folks seem to enjoy, but again might be too much for folks who prefer "behind closed doors" sex scenes. Each story does have a happily ever after, but it typically comes at a high cost to character(s). As for excitement and fantasy in the read? Um, yes, yes and again, yes!
I hope that helps answer your question. Please feel free to shoot me questions anytime, Terrie!

Immortal Flame is book one in the Hell to Pay series by Jillian David. This is the first book by Jillian and wow, just wow. What an entry she has made.

I have a bit of a confession to make: I actually had this pretty little ARC on my shelf since 2016 and I still had not read it…until now! After I finished reading “Immortal Flame” by Jillian David, I was seriously whacking myself in the head for not reading this ARC much sooner! “Immortal Flame” was a truly fantastic paranormal romance read that made me wa

I feel like we’re always hearing about beach reads and summer reads this time of year, so if anyone is looking for something different than those light and easy reads, you HAVE to check out these books by Jillian David. One is a little darker than the other, but they were both pretty entertaining. Keep reading to see what I mean…

Selling your soul to the devil never quite turns out as one hopes. For Peter Blackstone this is all too true. Honestly, Immortal Flame by Jillian David did not resonate with me as a reader. While I liked the plot and enjoyed the actual story, the book itself fell completely flat. I thought the plot line was unique and I was intrigued by the idea of Peter, a jaded minion of Satan searching for the “Meaningful Kill” to end his contract with the devil. The story was more than just a romance, and definitely had potential to be a great read.

Unfortunately, aside from the plot, Immortal Flame did not pull me i

I was given this book in return for a honest review.

In this book we are introduced to Peter a WW2 vet, who is encompassed to the devil, for making the ultimate sacrifice. The beginning of the book, you are introduced to him after he just gotten into a horrible car accident. He is then taken to the ER, and this is where you meet Dr. Allison Le Croux aka "Dr. Al". Both of these characters have their secrets, a secret they've kept to only the people closest to them. But with their encounter in the

Jillian David hits the ground running with her debut novel, Immortal Flame. An interesting tale of immortal, Peter Blackstone and gifted emergency room doctor, Allison La Croix, Jillian David has created an intriguing story of pain, suffering and love.

I was immediately fascinated with Allison's ability and how it impacted her life and relationships. The fact that she chose to be a doctor, knowing she might suffer from seeing the death of anyone she potentially comes in contact with, shows that

Took a chance on this one and boy was I happy. New author, cool premise. Took me a few pages to figure out the Indebted concept, but once I did the world that opened up was different than anything I've read before. Love that Allison's got backbone but still needs sexy Peter's protection. Love the conflict of her being able to see death and that gift hurts her. And then Peter is a hired killer, so in a way he IS death. And how that conflict plays out woven in with their powerful attraction and lo ...more

A sweet paranormal romance with a touch of a mystery and thriller in the mix. A new twist on the consept of the deal with the devil. Interesting enough. Reading the about the author bit after finishing the book enlightened the accurate and realistic medical and hiking descriptions in the book. A few spelling and paragraph errors, nothing big or irritating. Recommended for the lovers of paranormal romances.

“I want you in my life for as long as we live.” – Allison La Croix

No matter how many stars I give this book, or how much I intend to praise it, I don't think I'm gonna do justice to the awesomeness that I was introduced to. Like, hell, how can you go on - even to the next book - after opening this particular treasure chest?!?!

Peter Blackstone is an Indebted - a warrior that should have died long ago, but made a deal with the devil to ensure they kept going. Now he has to keep feeding the latter
First off let me say that I could not put this book down and read it in one sitting and I was glued to my tablet. The story line was a fresh take for me and I commend this author on her unique imagination and the ability to listen to her characters tell their story.

I've heard of this book for a while now, and I'm really happy I got to try it. As someone who is obsessed with reading stories with "gifted" people, I was really curious about this book.

Well written paranormal romance with a unique storyline.

I wasn't sure what to expect from a book with a cover of a guy with a wifebeater on, slouching with his hands in his pockets. I was initially attracted to this book from the blurb, about a WWII vet who sold his soul to the Devil in exchange for his wife's life, many decades ago. I'm so glad I picked this up, because the contents are amazing - crisp writing, a solid blend of just the right amount of action and romance, and engaging character

On a drunken whim, Peter Blackstone traded his soul to save his dying wife. As a consequence, he's forced into becoming a hired killer for Jerahmeel. For Peter, the only way out of immortality is to obtain his meaningful kill- something he has no idea of how to do.

As an emergency room physician, Allison La Croix is no stranger to seeing death. But it's the future deaths that she see's through visions after coming in contact with someone that bother her the most.

A pleasure to be given this book as an Independent reviewer for Paranormal Books and Authors that Rock. Jillian Davis has written an enticingly dangerous man in her heroines love interest. Can she save herself and him both? The action is exciting, the love scenes are scorching, and the suspense keeps you on the edge of your seat.

The storyline follows a woman with the ability to see peoples death who meets a man who has dealt in death for many many years. The characters are believable, relatable

This was an ok book. I liked the idea of the book - a man who made a deal with the devil to save someone he loves. Jillian did a good job developing the characters, but when it came time to break the deal with the devil, I was let down - that part took one chapter and didn't make much sense to me. I wish the last bit of the book (breaking the deal) was fleshed out better. ...more

Immortal Flame is a captivating story, pitting the good vs. the bad in an action-packed thriller that is definitely hard to put down!

I must admit this is my very first book on a paranormal genre. And it has turned me into an avid paranormal fan! My impression on paranormal books had always been one that is completely fictional painted in an unbelievable world. However, reading this book has dispelled this notion completely. I really like how author Jillian David has meshed the immortals seamless

My Thoughts:

I'll be the first to admit that I love a good paranormal romance story, but it has to be special. Something I haven't seen a million times before. Something that will stick with me. Unique characters, an original plot, and a twit. It's been a good while since I found a good paranormal romance series with a hook that left me wanting more. Then Immortal Flame fell into my inbox.

I was given a copy to review by the author.

Immortal Flame I consumed in two days - this was such an enjoyable read.

Peter and Allison simply ignite when together, I have to say when they first kissed I was moved beyond words, I stopped and had to tweet the author, the way it was written and the connection was simply scorching - I have not read a first kiss like that in a long time. The way these two characters communicated not only through the physical connection but the emotional/paranormal way

I thoroughly enjoyed this paranormal romance about Peter, an ex-WWII soldier who sold his soul to the devil to save his dying wife, and Allison, an ER surgeon battling to make a normal life despite the visions of death she receives from touching other people.
Well-written paranormal romance

It's a genuinely excellent, engaging world that the author has created here with a completely believable mythos (although I did find myself wondering who makes the 'Rules' that Peter's demon master has to abid

Fantastic Plot!

This was a wonderful romance. "Two star-crossed lovers" is such a cliché but it describes this book so well!

Peter is near death as he is wheeled into the ER-- except he's already dead, having sold his Soul. The doctor that evening is named Alison. She has this amazing gift of 'seeing' people's death with just a touch, which sort of explains her use of gloves. (Her 'visions' always come true.) As Alison touches Peter, she 'sees' all of these deaths from by-gone times and somehow k

I read these out of order, which I highly recommend you do not do if you plan to read the series. In my review of Relentless Flame, I said that it didn't feel like I was missing any details. I stand by that -- if you are reading the title as a stand alone. If you are not, they are sooo much better when read in the correct order.

Peter Blackstone and Allison LaCroix are such tragic characters and the love blooming between them seems impossible. This makes for an utterly compel

Immortal Flame is a pretty quick, fun paranormal romance with a surprising amount of suspense and action. I’m looking forward to book 2, Relentless Flame.

This was almost a dnf for me. I skimmed through most of it. I had a hard time buying into this one, especially Allie's character. I just couldn't buy her family story and how she and her Mom blamed herself for her Dad's death. He died of cancer, tragic, but normal and not one I would think would be caused or prevented by the family psychic. I found her self-pitying grating, especially when I wasn't buying into the cause of it. As for Peter, I don't know. I just never felt like I knew enough of h ...more
