Last year, a friend recommended me a book called Ditched by Robin Mellom. I added it to my wishlist right away but then time passed and I forgot about it; I regret saying it but to this day I've yet to read it (I know, shame on me).
Thus the moment I saw Perfect Timing on NetGalley and was approved for it, I instantly knew it was a sign. And you don't tempt fate, especially when following it leads you to such awesome results!

Are you familiar with this scenario:

A certain book catches your eye and by it's cover you already expect it will be a cute contemporary that will make you feel good while reading, and although it will be predictable, it will not bother you because right now, at this very moment, you're not looking for a book that will contain that 'life changing message' and make you see the world in a different shape. Right now, at this very moment, you just need the book that will high

I adored Robin's debut novel Ditched, it had me laughing constantly and then in tears the next moment but always, with a smile on my face. It had such a retro 80's John Hughes vibe to it that I couldn't help but love it.

With a new novel coming out, I just knew it was something I needed to try. I promised myself I would read all of her YA books because I just had so much darn fun with the first one.

I am so excited to say that her second novel, Perfect Timing, did not disappoint. IT was every bit
~~2.5 HEARTS~~

I really wanted to like this book but it just felt like it drugged on without any enticing to look forward to. The storyline seemed a little too far fetched to believe too. I know it's fiction but it just didn't click for me. There were too many things that I questioned that could actually happen realistically. I also felt like this was misleading in classifying this as a romantic comedy.

"If you want to get back together with him, now's the time. Dont worry about [his ex girlfriend]."
I'm conflicted, to say the least. It would be so easy to go up there and wrap my arms around him and tell him we can work this out.

But no. No way. If he wants to get back together, he needs to come to me.

In the beginning of the book, I had flashbacks of How My Summer Went Up in Flames, which I hated.

I hate giving bad reviews. I feel especially bad when a author is as generous as to provide me with a free copy... But as I promise always a honest review, that is what its going to be.

I would like to preface this by saying this is the first time I have DNF' a title that was given to me by NetGalley, at the end of the day when I am given a book to review, I want to be able to review it as a whole... A lot of times books are just slow and then you can get in to them etc... Which is why 9.5 times

I was so delighted when I found out that this author made another book! It has been 3 years since her last book (Ditched).

Tori was a delightful character, I loved her wits and how much she knew about romance/love, though also found out that love doesn't always go according to the little rules mentioned in the books.
I felt sorry for her that her mom never did pay much attention to her any more. I don't really understand paren

NetGalley! Thanks for the copy.

I'd read Robin Mellom before. Ditched is pretty hilarious, and I recall it being similar to HIMYM (How I Met Your Mother). Just the teen version of it. Perfect Timing is sort of... Different. There is a different feeling to it than Ditched, but I think Perfect Timing is on par with Mellom's writing. Met my expectations.

It gets really hilarious. Alright. Tori gets herself into a bunch of situations. And they are all pretty funny (one question: Is Jo-Jo Lopez actual

My thoughts:

Since I’m in the mood for cute contemporary romances at the moment I browsed through Netgalley and was immediately drawn by this cover. And the summary sounded great too so I requested Perfect Timing without having any expectations.

As I started reading this novel I was pleasantly surprised because I loved the writing style and the main character’s voice. Tori was such a fun protagonist! I could totally identify with her because she didn’t reall

Oh, Robin Mellom. You. Are. Awesome. I finished Ditched 8 days before my wedding last spring. Needless to say, the pressure was on for the books I was reading during that time because my "wedding brain" was so all-consuming. Despite the craziness, I totally loved Ditched and considered it one of my favorite 2014 reads!

I knew I had to request Perfect Timing on Netgalley right away. After finishing the book, I am now convinc

This story was fun, refreshing and sparkling. Sweet romantic comedy!
I had a great time following the adventures of Tori and Adam. The flashbacks could be disturbing at first, but they totally fitted into the story.

I really enjoyed this book! It was an enjoyable read that I ate up in one sitting. I liked how it was clean romance rather than the usual, inappropriate romance in many YA novels these days.

I loved the whole plot of the story and how the two characters came together. (Though I can’t say much for the sake of spoilers)

I ADORED the characters. Each one of them was their own character. Never once did I see any of the characters that were alike or get them confus

Perfect Timing is the first book that I have read by Robin Mellom but I can already say that it will not be the last. This book was everything that I expected it to be.

Tori was a character that I immediately loved. I loved her voice and she was a lot of fun. Her view on life was quiet interesting. It was also easy to relate to Tori, like me she did not really know what she was good at and what she should do with her life. She had a dream, like we all do bu

I did enjoy the book, but it seemed far too short to actually tell the story properly. The first half was told well, but the second half, with more action and drama, finishing the plot if you like, was rushed so much that it didn’t seem to do the book justice. I didn’t feel as though the plot had unfolded as it was supposed to. Whether or not this was due to the author’s restrictions in page numbers, I felt that this effected the quality of the book.

On the other hand, I appreciated the angle of

This story starts out kind of sad to me with a bunch of break ups. I had no idea where this was going. I didn't read the summary when I picked this book up. It just seemed like something I would like. I really enjoyed it. But the beginning started out weird with break ups I haven't read many books like that.
I started to get frustrated with it between chapters 3 and 4. It didn't really feel like it was going anywhere. After I got to the middle of the story I just wanted to finish it. It became r

Completely predictable, overly sappy... but you will absolutely love this romantic comedy! Tori is a self-proclaimed relationship expert who has the ability to accurately pinpoint when other people's relationships will end and knows how to follow all of the "relationship rules". But when Tori's boyfriend Joel dumps her via text message, she never saw it coming.

To get her mind off Joel, Tori takes a part time job running errands for an eccentric hollywood couple who pair her up with a hottie name

This was a sweet, loveable, but comedic story about a girl- Tori who is trying to get over a breakup when she decides to stay busy by getting a job from an eccentric couple. She then meets Adam who she slowly galls in love with night by night. This gave me different premise and took a storyline and just made it funny and different.

Really cute story. It was an interesting culture to observe--LA at night, paparazzi, tourists and movie stars--and how Tori and Adam made their way through to complete the tasks of their jobs. The instant friendly connection between the two of them, their camaraderie and understanding of the place each was in with their families and relationships. The realization and understanding Tori learned about love and life from her friendship with him, Shannon and her brother Taylor, the late night job wi ...more

She decides to get a job to distract herself. Thanks to NetGalley for an e-ARC of this book!

There are just days where I need silly YA romances. Today was one of those days. Is the writing stellar? Sorry, but no. Is it fun and swoony and silly and predictable and make you feel good in the end? Yes.

This book passes my test for cheesy YA love stories: if it was an ABCFamily Original Movie, would I watch it? YES! It's so ridiculous, yet cute and fun. This should have been made in the early 00s with Adam Brody and Rachel Bilson in the starring r

I thought this was a fun story. Tori was a complete idiot when it came to her own relationship, but that is what made her more likeable to me. The relationship know-it-all didn't even recognize the signs in her own life. I liked that she learned from her own experiences instead of continuing to hold fast to the rules in all the self-help/relationship books she read. I enjoyed all the characters. Adam was adorable. I'm always on the lookout for a great YA contemporary that I can recommend to the teen and preteen girls I know. This one is fabulous for girls from 11 or 12 right on up to adults. Tori is a sixteen year old who sometimes subs in for her mother's online advice blog, so she thinks she knows all there is to know about love and dating. I loved Tori's voice--she was so relateable in her troubles, from her divorced parents, to her confusion about her own love life. I also loved Adam--it's nice when a ...more

Perfect Timing has rom-com written all over it. Actually I think it would make a pretty good film. It's fast-paced, witty, full of bizarre and interesting scenes, and light romance. This romp through LA is the perfect vehicle for a blossoming friendship and romance, and at the same time it manages to have a 'growing up and finding yourself' element to it as well. I loved the fact that although it seems a little far-fetched at times, Tori's job and adventures give the book an individual feel. Thi ...more
