Owen Nichols comes home for a one week vacation, from fighting in the war. He’s excited to spend time with his best friend Neil and girlfriend Meghan. When Owen is introduced to Meghan's cousin Nina Jacobs he is instantly attracted to her.
When Nina meets Owen it is and instant attraction but has her guard up, afraid to let things go farther than friends for two reason. One she has been hurt in the past and two, he is only in town for a week. But soon the friendship blossoms into something more,

The back and forth in the beginning between the two point of views to get the back story on them sort of lost me. I understand the importance of learning what happened in their lives before they met in present day, but it just felt like it took too long for me to get to their story. Once we got to present day the book really picked up for me. I highly enjoyed that part in the book. I definitely had tears in my eyes in parts. Some really sad and heartbreaking moments, but there were also

Nina is a tool and Liam is an asshole. This series shows couples that seem to always care about other people!

After waiting (mostly patiently) for the 6th installment of Lucy Gage's Ward Sisters series I was so excited to dive right in to Nina Jacobs and Owen Nichols' great love story. The thing I love most about this author's writing style is how she first shows you a couple's first meeting and then goes back in time to show how these people got to the fateful moment. I enjoyed learning all of Nina's secrets and dreams, and seeing into her past helped me to better understand why she has the insecuriti ...more

OMG - I just found my new book boyfriend!

Sgt Owen Nichols has just come home from the war for one week of vacation and is spending time with his best friend Neil Murphy and his girlfriend Meghan. Meghan and Neil introduce Owen to Meghan's cousin Nina Jacobs and both are very attracted to the other. But both have their guard up over what could be a "relationship" after being hurt in the past and with Owen only in town for a week, maybe they are meant to only be friends. Yet, their friendship grow

I liked how this story opened with Nina and Owen's first meeting. From there, it's backstory, bringing the reader up to speed on where each was in life before that fateful meeting. After that, it's Owen and Nina navigating the waters of what's happening between them despite their pasts and the uncertainty of their future.

This is a beautiful friends to lovers romance, a perfect depiction (to me) of what love and friendship looks like when it's given the space and time to grow. That isn't to say

This was my first time reading anything by Lucy Gage and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this touching story. The author has constructed an emotional universe that was appealing and genuinely touching , that had me tearing up well reading this story, this story started with Owen coming home for a holiday for a week from fight in the war. But he's so happy to be able to spend time with his best friend Niel and his girlfriend Meghan And then there's Meghan's cousin Nina Jacob, but where Owen ge ...more

We meet Nina in book 1 and learn even more in book 2. She's essentially the scorned ex of Liam, who seems to think he still has a say in her life even though he's happily married to Jenna. Nina struggles greatly with losing Liam whom she only dated for a month and seems to place a lot of the blame on Jenna. When she meets Owen, it seems like almost love at first sight, at least for him. He's there for his friend's wedding and is a Sergeant in the Army, but being discharged soon. The spend one we ...more
