Very fast read. Sweet story. I do love hockey players! I would have rated it higher if not for a stupid scene that was totally unnecessary and only served to piss me off. And I am NOT talking about the first paragraph where we wakes up in bed with a puck bunny. That was a non event. No details. Just the fact that she was there and he saw her out.

NHL player, Colton Tremblay’s reputation gets him traded from his hometown team the Montreal Canadians to an expansion team the Generals in San Antonio, Texas. Maya Dominguez gets her big break as a beat reporter for the new NHL team. The two meet while on the job. Maya wants to keep things professional but Colton feels he has finally found someone that is worth more than a one-night stand.

I liked the idea of an NHL expansion team going in a non-typical hockey demographic. Yes, there is a team i

This was a super cute story about a man with a bad reputation getting a chance to redeem himself and a woman trying to climb the ladder in a male-dominated work environment, sports reporting. Maya finally gets the opportunity she's been working for, a chance to move up from high school athletics, and is assigned the beat for the San Antonio Generals. Colton effectively throws a wrench into her plans when he chooses to pursue her. Aside from the complication of Maya's job as the beat reporter for ...more

Maya the ambitious reporter.

Colt the playboy hockey player with the bad reputation.

Two professionals that should never come together…or should they?

The sweetness that surrounds the two heroes is endearing.

The point of view switch within the chapters brings the reader inside Maya and Colt for a better understanding of the feelings building inside each of them.

Decisions, decisions…

Maya struggles between her desire for Colt and the job she so loves. Colt struggles to show Maya he is a changed man.

Tightly written, steamy sports romance that follows the relationship between a disgraced hockey star and the beat reporter assigned to cover his team. Loved that the heroine was a first-generation American from a very traditional Hispanic family. The hoops she makes the French Canadian hero jump through are hilarious! (La lengua--mm,mm!)

Can't wait to read the stories of Colton's teammates, Trevor and Nik!

An enjoyable 3.5 star read. Enjoyed the story, really like both characters and even though it is a novella, their relationship felt to rushed and insta-love for me.

3.5 stars. I liked Colton and Maya but there were a few story lines that really needed some more explanation. What happened with Colton and Jana? What about Maya and Shaun, there was a little more hate there than one comment to him seemed to account for. But, the story was sweet and I enjoyed it.

**** "Playing for Keeps: A Men on the Ice Novella" by Michele Shriver

"Playing For Keeps" is a truly fun enjoyable novel. It is a story of sports and romance rolled into a truly wonderful, but not sappy, read.

Colton, a professional hockey player, has been traded to a new team and has to change his partying and playboy ways. Maya is finally given the chance to cover the NHL via the sports paper she works for. What neither of them expect is for something potentially special would arise so quickly

Playing for Keeps by Michele Shriver is a true testament about not believing everything you heard and not to judge someone based on what someone else tells you. Colton Tremblay is an outstanding hockey player. His one flaw is he loves women. Colton is traded to an expansion team in Texas where he meets Maya. He is immediately taken with her. Her one flaw is she is a reporter whose job is to report about the hockey team he is playing for. Colton pursues Maya in a way that makes her comfortable. A ...more

Wow! Just wow!

5 stars!

This book did not disappoint me at all and I love hockey! I like Colton who is such a playboy but has a change of heart.

I can see why Maya had doubts but she is a beautiful strong and independent woman. Watch out world, she is taking everything by storm.

A sports writer spending time with a playboy hockey player that gets traded. What will happen when these two meet?

Enjoy the book, I highly recommend it if you love sports romance.

Exciting start for the Men of the Ice Series. Bad boy Colton Tremblay has a chance to redeem himself from his player ways when he's traded from Montreal to San Antonio. Sports reporter Maya Dominguez finally scores her big break when she's assigned to the General's beat. What started as innocent curiosity, quickly turned to undeniable attraction. Likeable characters, believable and captivating plot really made this an enjoyable read. Looking forward to know the rest of the San Antonio Generals.

I'm a big fan of sexy athletes and Shriver delivered with Colten! Less than excited about his trade, he meets Maya and slowly becomes open to the idea. I loved Maya's family and how Colten was really sweet and sensitive deep down.
