Interesting read for sure. Not sure it's the plan for me, as she warns it's not designed for endurance athletes. However, I think there is a lot of advice in there worth heeding.

My takeaways:

1. low glycemic index foods
2. Eat protein, fiber and fat each time you eat
3. Coconut oil
4. Chia seeds
5. Vitamin b6
6. Reduce/avoid gluten
7. Embrace good fats.
8. Increase vegetable intake

I have read other books recently that cover similar topics, and this book does mention the Paleo diet which is also similar to the Ketogenic one. There's a slight comparison to Always Hungry book as well to complete phases to see how your body will react to certain foods that are inflammatory and cause other health issues, to gradually re-introduce, by phase 3. Although I have been working on improving my health & diet for more than a decade, mainly by living off my local farmers markets, I realized I don't know a lot about nutrition. I know the story is different depending on who is telling it, but I enjoyed Vance's explanations. I had been experimenting somewhat randomly with coconut oil, chia seeds & some of the other things she recommends but I have added several to my days since starting her book. I love the coconut oil. Not a diet book. The plan in this book is a lifestyle change, not a quick fix diet. To properly follow it, you will need to do some planning, want to do it, and have will power. But, it will be totally worth it when you start to notice the changes in your body and health, both physically and mentally.
