I enjoyed this book and I had a crush on Ashton! I couldn't help myself =)

 :

Ashton was sent to jail for a few years for a murder he DIDN'T commit. His best friend Willow had been sending him letters that he never returned so she tried to forget him.

Then one day Ashton is back in his hometown and everyone is not happy. Willow is a nervous wreck until later on in the book they find out her letters were kept from Ash.

Ash wants to find out who really killed his friend all of those years ago and Will

I'm just going to admit, I initially wasn't sure I was going to like this book. I had tried reading Doon, co-written by Langdon, and wasn't a fan myself. But after reading Gilt Hollow, I just feel silly for ever having any of those doubts. This is a YA mystery/thriller with an engaging storyline that plays on some darker elements set against an eerie backdrop. As a fan of darker novels, I ate this one up crazy fast!

After spending the last four years in juvenile detention, Ashton is released

The new young-adult novel Gilt Hollow is a bit of a departure from what Lorie Langdon usually writes. I enjoyed the Doon series that she co-wrote with Carey Corp, as it was a light, fun fantasy series. But as a fan of darker stories, I gotta say... I'm digging Lorie's step into the mystery genre. What she offers here is an engaging story that is as equal parts cozy as it is thrilling.

The story follows two characters: Ashton and Willow. It starts off with Ashton being released from juvie. He was

I was so suprised with Gilt Hollow! I loved it! My two favorite things from this book's were the charaters as well as the pacing. I loved Wil & Ash's complicated relationship. So. Cute. The pacing was amazing! I got into the story almost immediately! Each time I would pick up the book again I had no problems what so ever to get back into the world of Glit Hollow. Because of this I'

Full disclosure: I read all of Lorie's work before it goes to print and am a huge fan of her talent. Her first YA suspense novel gripped me from page one. I loved the romantic tension between Willow and Ashton. Hopefully we'll get another story from Gilt Hollow soon.

Got an ARC of this beauty as well! Read about 40 pages and adored them!

One of the many books that I picked up recently and loved! SO good! Lorie Langdon is one of my favorite authors and I've loved every book by her that I have read. It was spooky and impossible to put down.

Surprisingly compelling mystery novel I didn’t expect to like but enjoyed tremendously. My inner Nancy Drew is cheering with approval.

Gilt Hollow is told from duo POV of Ash and Willow. Four years ago Ash was convicted for the murder of his best friend, and he spent four years in juvie for the crime he didn't commit, or so he says. Willow is Ash's childhood friend and the only person who believes Ash is innocent. But Ash had changed in the four years he was missing; h

To say I’m a fan of Lorie Langdon’s work is an understatement. Ever since reading the enthralling Doon series, I have kept up with all the latest news. When I heard that she was soon to be releasing a new YA mystery novel, I literally screamed. When I saw the gorgeous cover, again I shouted in excitement. When I met Lorie Langdon at BookCon and completely by surprise received an ARC copy of Gilt Hollow, you can bet I totally squealed my head off like a crazy person. I loved this book so much!!!!! From the beginning to the end I was held captive by the magic of this book. I not only loved the main characters Willow and Ashton, as well as their names, but their voices also seemed authentic and real. I loved the opening and how the story unfolded and, like a good mystery book, it kept me guessing until the end about who'd done it (murdered Daniel). Ashton was my favourite character as

Was Ashton the villain everyone believed him to be or the boy she'd fallen in love with?

I must confess that I was completely drawn to this book based on the haunting atmosphere of the front cover. Especially the figure shrouded in darkness in the background. Who was he? What was the significance of placing the female character in the foreground?

This is a mystery/thriller set in the contemporary period in a small town called Gilt Hollow. Like many American small towns, there is a history, echo

GILT HOLLOW is a story about friendship and redemption for a teen wrongly accused of murder. Readers can expect to enjoy the small-town setting, suspenseful feel, great dialogue, and some serious chemistry. A great read for those who enjoy mystery, suspense with some sweet moments and romance mixed in!

I loved these characters! Willow and Ashton both have had to deal with the situation in different, but no less traumatizing, ways. I liked that everything wasn't easy for them because it came acro

I received a review copy from the publisher, in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

When I sit down to write an unfavourable review, I remember what this author once said:

“It’s not like an author wakes up on day and sits down to write a bad book…”

And I get that – I do. Nobody wants to write a bad book EVER, but if you read as much as a lot of hard-core bookdragons, there will be a LOT of books that you find b

When I first saw this book I had my doubts. Just from the cover, it seemed like a thrilling book that would keep me awake to the early hours of the morning. I wasn't sure if I'd like it or if it'd turn out to be a cliche romance novel.
But as they say, don't judge a book by its cover.

First off, I'm a sucker for the bad boy characters (just take a look at my little Asher over there) and Ashton was everything and more.
Secondly, Willow was surprisingly relatable. Sure, I haven't dated a criminal, bu

Gilt hollow is a mystery novel that has romance in it. That is my favorite type of novel to read.

The beginning of this book was extremely frustrating. So much so I had to keep putting the book down. I hate when both of the characters are misinformed and they both get mad at each other and don't just talk it out. That was the first small part of this novel, which left me feeling irritated. And I kept wanting to skim read, but I know this is a mystery and that would be a bad idea. And I have also

I absolutely love Lorie Langdon as both a person and an author. I've had the pleasure of meeting her four times because she's an Ohio author and attends all of the Ohio author events. Each time it's so nice talking to her about her books and I definitely couldn't wait for the chance to read her newest release!

Ever since Willow's best friend was sent to jail for murdering one of their classmates, no one has let Willow forget. Willow has tried to continue on with her life, but when Ashton shows ba

I can't believe I enjoyed this book. To be honest, I only requested to review this book because I liked Lorie Langdon's work in the series Doon. I seriously enjoyed this book.
I can't say that I wasn't freaked out at times, but it was good! Okay, so the only time I was really freaked out was during the clown scene. I do not like clowns so that part was a little scary. Actually, this is how I came to not like clowns. A little while ago, my three sisters and I were telling ghost stories. I was so s

Bad writing distracts me. When I have to stop reading to shake my head in disbelief of the writing, I can't concentrate on the story. GILT HOLLOW is the second book in a row I've read that's trying to drown me in similes, adjectives & adverbs, using 50 words when 5 would suffice and using words awkwardly.

"Perusing clothes she couldn't afford was not her idea of fun".

The plot had too many convenient coincidences which felt contrived. Lorie Langdon couldn't have done even a google research on

Gilt Hollow was a really fun, quick mystery read that was character driven and at the centre, a wonderful tale of forgiveness and acceptance. I won't deny that I absolutely adore the Doon series, also by Lorie Langdon (and Carey Corp) and I have to say that I now have another favourite couple - Willow and Ash!!!

Willow was a wonderful MC and I really loved reading her thoughts. She was intelligent, thoughtful, hard-working, loyal and her forgiveness towards Ash was really beautiful to re

Man, I was so ready to like this one. But alas, my recent streak of unfinished books seems on the rise.
All I wanted was an intense mystery, maybe a good romance as a subplot and perhaps some good old plot twists along the way.
What do I get? A sappy-ass romance (I'm talking cringe worthy dialogue here), an ending you could see coming from a mile off (I didnt finish the book but I bet I have the ending pegged, not that I care either way) and riddled with events that seemed forced with the soul pu

3.5 stars! YA romantic suspense that kept me guessing until the last few chapters. This is also a murder mystery with teenagers as the possible suspects, gulp.

I thought the pacing was good and there’s a lot of build up of each character for a clear picture of good and bad.

But what kept me me turning the pages was the budding love story between Willow and Ashton that was somehow sweet and untainted. She makes him want to be a better person and he helps her to be more carefree.

But someone doesn’

Four years ago, Willow’s best friend, Ashton, was sent to Juvenile Detention for manslaughter. She hasn’t heard anything from him in all that time, though she sent him dozens of letters and defended his innocence to anyone who would listen. Now, though, Ashton has been released from prison and is coming back to their town Gilt Hollow for revenge against those who falsely accused him. What does that mean for Willow, who Ashton believes deserted him?
