Try a little dragon tenderness.

I am Ghleanna the Decimator. I am a warrior. A soldier. I know no fear. No pain. No mercy. I do, however, know acute embarrassment! How could I not after getting dumped by a bastard dragon in front of my own troops? So I tuck tail and return to my cave, drowning my sorrows in ale—as is my family’s way. But instead of leaving me to my miser

I like G.A. Aiken's Dragon Kin stuff, so I'm familiar with the characters and their world. However, if this is your first introduction to the series, some things may be confusing and/or you may not get all of the inside references. Although, you also don't have to know anything about the ongoing stories to read this, because it's a prequel (of sorts) that tells how Glheanna & Bram originally got together.

What do you get when you take amazing, quirky, outrageously funny, annihilating dragon warriors and incredible fantasy world building? Dragon on Top, a marvelous new romantic comedy with a heavy dose of paranormal fantasy, that I absolutely devoured.

Bram has watched Glhenna for years with the hope to one day catcher her eye. Well, the queen of the dragons is about to hand him his chance.

Glhenna is forlorn, she was embarrassed by a lover in front of her troops, then called on by the queen to esco

Where are my dragons? Yea, that never gets old for me.

Awesome!

Series: Oh yes indeed!

Sexy times: Yepper. Spicy.

Plan on reading more by the author: Oh hell yes.

Synopsis Ghleanna has a bit of a self-esteem issue as a result of a he-dragon, traitorous bastard. She's also a badddddd asssssss kicker of a fighter. Not for the faint of heart, she. Catching her eye is none other than peace keeping, book loving, mighty flame throwing Bram the Merciful. Or rather he's crushing on her and then finds herself crushin

Cocky, arrogant, snarky, blood-thirsty bastards! Gah, how I missed them! Dragon on Top was everything I love about the Dragon Kin. Action, adventure, some good lovin' and all with a gloriously snarky bite.

The quick of it is that Bram needs to visit another dragon sect to get a stack of paper signed and his queen has decided he needs a keeper for his trip and has tasked Ghlenna--one of her Captains--with making sure he get

Get ready for some crazy because G.A. Aiken is back with another installment to the Dragon Kin series. This is one of my favorite series just because of how fun it is. These dragons don’t follow any rules and aren’t regulated by human standards so they are a loony bunch for sure. Paired with Aiken’s epic worldbuilding and politics and you’ve got a fun story with a little bit of sexiness thrown in as well.

Glheanna is no stranger to the mayhem that occurs in this book. As she goes around threate

I adore this authors take on dragons and this shorter story that has previously been published in an anthology just tickled my funny bone! These dragons are violent, arrogant , sexy as anything and absolutely hilarious! Yes I kind of get that they will decimate their enemies without regret but sometimes they are even more violent towards their own kin folk. No scratch that sometimes because in a dragons family you really do need to have a very thick skin!
This story centres around Bram the Mercif

This novella orginally appeared as part of the Supernatural Anthology and this is why the whole time you are reading it you might think, Dang! this is so familiar.

It is a funny, sexy tell of an absent mind genius hero paired with a warrior who is getting over a heartbreak and they are dragons.

These version has more time with the Sea Dragons (or at least I think it does) which is cool. I hope we get a Sea Dragon lead in the future.

* Purchased and read as part of the Supernatural anthology.

The best word, one word, to sum up this story would be HILARIOUS!

I’ve read several PNR involving dragons before, but nothing like this. For one, these characters were not your typical friendly dragons. They ate cattle and humans as easily as we would inhale a slice of pizza. This had to have been the best dragon, unrequited love slash friends to lovers story I’ve come across in….probably ever.

Dragon on Top was a little insane and kind of

So, first off, let's be clear I read this book awhile ago but requested it again from Netgalley not realizing it was just a duplicate of a book I've already read. Dragon On Top looks like a shiny new book from Aiken but this is just the release of the single story, it was originally published in an anthology (Supernatural) a few years ago. If you love funny stories or are a fan of the Dragon Kin series, you gotta read this because Glheanna and Bram play a few major key rules in the newer books.

✮ First published and read in the Supernatural anthology. ✮

I am glad the author has published Dragon On Top separately. It’s everything I love about the Dragon Kin series. The story is hilarious, the characters are as snarky as every and the dragons are oh so arrogant. This is one series I love to read over and over. I enjoy the world and characters G.A. Aiken has created. It’s not your typical friendly dragons story/world. It's unique and different.

Dragon on Top is the second book I have read in the Dragon Kin series. It is what I have come to expect from G.A. Aiken...plenty action, playful banter, interesting characters, and steamy love scenes. What a winning combination!

Glheanna is known as the Decimator for good reason. She is one fierce dragoness on the battlefront and off...an unrelenting warrior trained since a hatchling. Why then is Glheanna cowering in her cave, d

I had read this one in the Supernatural anthology, but it didn't take away from reading it again. I really liked how different Bram and Glheanna were. Loved how they bickered back and forth, how Bram kept questioning Glheanna if she remembered him at all. Safe to say it didn't take long before she wasn't' able to forget about him. They managed to work well together in their diplomatic mission and even accomplished more than they set out to.

Still in Dragon Kin series binge, I decide to read Dragon on Top for the next. I didn't re-read this one, because back then, I just don't have time or not interested enough to read about Ghleanna. This novella is also prequel and the event happen after Chains and Flames, so Rhiannon already become queen, and Bercelak is her consort now. You can read Dragon on Top as stand alone, but you will miss the world building and characters background. Ghleanna first introduced in Chains & Fla

I love the G.A. Aiken Dragon Kin series. I’m not very far into it. I started it very late and I let my reading of the books slip. When I saw this book was available for review and was a prequel, I jumped on the chance to review it. If you’ve never read a G.A. Aiken book, they are hilarious. She also writes under the name Shelly Laurenston.

This is the story of Bram the Merciful and Glheanna the Decimator. Two dragons that could not be more dissimilar if

This novella originally appeared as part of the Supernatural Anthology Now from the Dragon Kin. The PLUS is that this is 0.4 and book 8 is already published. So if you are not familiar with this series, you are in for a treat... You can read on for many hours

The main characters are fun and sexy and the word building is just amazing. Not just dragons on land but we get to read in Dragon on Top also about the sea dragons.

Great start for you to get to know this series if you have not read it. Enjoy

OK, I know this is because in some fantasy world I actually belong to this family of crazy dragons, I can not be objective in my ratings of any of the books belonging to this series. I think I have to be extreeeeeeeemly disappointed in order to deck it down with a star or two... So, once again,

I received an ARC of this book from the Publisher, via Netgalley, this does not affect my opinion of this book or the content of my review.

This is actually a re-release. But I loved it and figured it was a good reason to highlight it here. As I said before, there are two ways to read this series, as published, or by timeline.

I can never quite decide if I think it better to read all the novellas first, or to read them in the author’s suggested order. But, since the novels have an overriding story

God I love the Dragon Kin series and after reading it I’m ALWAYS in a better mood than I was when I first started reading one of the books. The characters are crazy and over the top (okay most are dragon shifters but still), even the ones that appear “normal” are crazy, but they are all distinct and likeable in their craziness and their antics always make me laugh. Not the polite little chuckle kind of laugh, but the laugh out loud and sometimes snort while laughing variety. That’s how much I en ...more

...So, what did I like about it?
I found Ms Aiken’s writing style very easy to read and although I haven’t read any of her Dragon Kin Series before I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I was submerged into the world.

I do like my female characters to be intelligent, resilient and with a good sense of humour and I wasn’t disappointed here. Ghleanna was all of these and more, of course she could kick-ass but she also had a hidde

DRAGON ON TOP was the perfect blend of fun and sexy, with tons of new mythology and interesting insights into the series; I adored it!

The main Dragon Kin storyline takes place a few hundred years (at least) after the events of DRAGON ON TOP, which is great since the story has gotten a bit heavy in the last books and it's fabulous to read about the Southlands without the baggage (although I am looking forward to the next book in the series, FEEL THE BUR

As if her life wasn’t pathetic enough, Glheanna the Decimator has been ordered to escort highborn Bram the Merciful through dangerous territories just so he can negotiate instead of battle in this captivatingly witty paranormal romance.

Fireworks and witty repertoire keeps readers on their toes as Glheanna escorts Bram on his mission and discovers that just maybe there is a place in her life for a little “mercy.” The chemistry between Glheanna and Bram is smokin’ and the relationship is explosive

I love the Dragon Kin! This is the story of Ghleanna and Bram falling in love. It's so sweet how they are complete opposites, yet they are both very similar in many ways. As always, Ghleanna is a very strong female character and Bram, though not a Cadwaldr certainly has his strengths. This story has just enough romance, just enough action and just enough comedy. I love how this family is at once completely dysfu

This series is at its best when dealing with political intrigue and not all the "hurrdurr lookit all these badass ladies murdering everybody" nonsense you have to deal with in between the almost-legitimately-good books about your Dagmars and Keitas and Brams. I gotta give it up for this world-building, though. The other types of dragons are a fun universe expansion and I hope we see more of the underwater Greek dragons in future books. I was tempted to give this 5 stars, just because it was so much fun and I laughed so many times. I really enjoyed the story because it was reminiscent of the earlier books in the series in that the story really focused on the two main characters. Glheanna was a trip. Especially when she was teasing Bram. And Bram's focus and lack of awareness got me laughing as well. I guess the main reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it is a pretty simple and straightforward story and, as a novella, it lac ...more

My Thoughts:

Despite the fact that I read this in the anthology a couple of years ago, I really like this story. This is Glheanna and Bram's love story. This is laugh out loud, sexy romance at its best.

I don't think any other author has entertained me as much as G.A. Aiken (Shelly Laurenston). If you like paranormal romance and haven't read anything by her you are really missing out.

Recommandation:

This works well as a standalone. Fans of the genre, author will enjoy this.

An entertaining short paranormal romance with lots of fast paced exciting action and plenty of humor. The hero's calm demeanor added a nice dichotomy to the story when paired with the warrior heroine the typical character of the series. Dragon Captain Ghleanna is recruited to escort and protect negotiator dragon Bram when he goes to try and make a treaty with an enemy.

I didn't think I'd enjoy so much Bram and Ghleanna's story, but this was sooooo fun.
I can't get over how much entertainment I get out of this dragon stories. All the books are ROFL hilarious.
Highly recommend somebody who wants to de-stress and relax, while also having a good plot and sexy romance.

I enjoyed this little novella prequel in the Dragon Kin series. At first, I could not remember who Ghleanna was. It became clear as I was reading of course, but it has been so long since I have read the earlier books that I still can't remember her role in them. Then, as I continued to read, I felt like I had read this one before. Maybe it was released in an anthology, I'm not sure (and I haven't looked)... but the whole underwater caves setting was very very familiar.

Anywho, this is the story o
