Seventeen-year-old Miranda Wolford was born Deaf, though it took her years to realize it. She thought everyone could hear the cacophony of voices that surrounded her—but those voices belong to the dead, and they are the only things Miranda can hear.

When a ghost leads Miranda to a missing child and his murderer, she tries to enlist the police; but between the communication

Miranda is hearing impaired and is looking for a way to escape. Since she's always been able to see the dead she figures why not join them. But after summoning a vampire, her life begins to change. This was a great read! I'm hoping the author will continue to write. I'm also curious if she plans on producing any more books in this series.

This review first appeared on my blog: What Happened to the Wallflower?

Narrative-Let me just say this first: I was absolutely blown away by the narrative voice in this novella. THE TIES ETERNAL is told from the first-person POV of Miranda Wolford, a Deaf teenager who also happens to hear and occasionally see ghosts.

Miranda's voice sounded very mature, very analytic, and very relatable, which enabled me to read without noticing the words; this is a really cool thing, because it's a sign at how ve

The Ties Eternal is the third Web novella, and unlike the first two, it does not feature the Fletcher siblings at all. Instead, it introduces us to Miranda Wolford, a young Latina who was born Deaf but has the intriguing ability to see and communicate with the dead. We’re not talking Ghost Whisperer style, either. No, Miranda sees the dead in all their gruesome glory and is surrounded by their cries for her help. One in particular becomes more incessant than the others, and Miranda soon discover ...more

I was sent this book as an ARC by HorrorNovelReviews.com in exchange for an honest review:

Who wants to summon a vampire? Miranda Wolford does. She’s tired of seeing ghosts and hearing them speak inside her head. She’s deaf and can’t hear the outside world like the rest of her family can. She figures that if she becomes a vampire she’ll be immortal and won’t die and end up in the void where the ghosts are. Hearing their endless cacophony in her mind for eternity would drive her mad.

I really love this series, not only for the vivid descriptions and fluid writing, or the unique storylines, or that I can devour the whole story in a couple hours...I could go on and on. So it should come as no surprise that I think THE TIES ETERNAL is quite fantastic, if not the best of the series so far. TTE is the first book I've read with a MC that is Deaf, and from my (limited) perspective, Spivey really nails it. This story is amazing and I was thrilled when it circled back at the end to s ...more
