The subject was uncomfortable but the way Caroline Roberts wrote this story kept me engaged and reading even during the difficult moments of the book.

I think the title says it all. Kate and Michael have been married for a long time. They have two young daughters. Michael runs his own firm while Kate stays at home. Kate thought their relationship was fine until she found out that her husband was having an affair. Worse still when Michael admitted that he had fallen in love with another woman and

This beautiful and heart-wrenching story is the accurate portray of a marriage in trouble. Michael and Kate have been married for a long time and have two beautiful young daughters. Michael works hard and sometimes long hours to provide for his family while Kate is a stay home mom, caring for the house and the children. Everything in their household seems fine, except there's hardly any intimacy or closeness between this coup
2.5 Stars – Women’s fiction more than romance

A well written and fairly realistic portrayal of the pain, the sorrow, the loneliness, the anger, the selfishness (of the hero) and the regret (of the hero) caused by infidelity in marriage...well up until the rushed, anticlimatic and semi forced HEA ending. I don’t have a problem with HEA’s in cheating plotline as long as the HEA feels authentic to the tone, the pacing and the story being told. For me, that did not happen in this book. The couple’s

This is a difficult book for me to rate. Regardless what your stance is on cheating, this book was enthralling. It had my stomach all churned up in knots and at one point, I really wanted to stop reading because I just knew what the final outcome was going to be and that I was going to be pissed off!
I won't go into the storyline as other reviewers have done that for me :) What I will do is share my reaction this book.
When Michael leaves, Kate falls apart and I was tearing up over how devastated

This guy was an idiot and I don't believe in the HEA.

There’s just something about the ending that truly leaves me unsatisfied.

I really liked this family relationship drama. There are no chills or thrills here; it is just a very well told story of a marriage that has disintegrated. When Michael walks out on his wife Kate and their two young children into the arms of another woman, Kate is left to pick up the pieces. It all felt so realistic as Kate mourned the death of her marriage whilst at the same time getting the children to school and nursery and making sure there is enough food in the fridge. We got really inside ...more

Oh the angst, the sorrow, the brutality that can be love and life. This book had it all. Why do I love to read books like this? I often ask myself this question. I think it's the exquisite torture. It feeds my angst addiction in the most satisfying of ways. Life isn't always perfect. I guess I just sometimes like an extra challenging, hard-won, kind of happy ever after.

The book I read right before this one was VERY similar in storyline. So, while reading this one I unintentionally found myself comparing the scenario both women found themselves in and how the handled the situation.

Kate and Michael are married with two little girls. And as most couples will tell you, when children enter the picture, the dynamic of your relationship changes. Michael decides that his way of dealing with that change is by falling in love with someone else, never expecting his wife

Another unsatisfactory cheating book with a UEA (unhappily ever after). Don't bother buying this one. Would 've been great if the author had exerted herself to write a sensitive and powerful ending, one in which the wife emerges stronger, more confident, and unafraid to face a future on her own, what a marvelous model for her daughters. Miserable husband would be over the top remorseful and repenting, but too late. That would have made for a re-read. Don't waste your time on this trash.

Originally reviewed on Becca's Books.

There are so many words fluttering about in my mind, words to describe this novel with, it's hard for me to choose just one. Painful. Raw. Agonising. Heartbreaking. But then at the other end of the spectrum, hopeful, promising and golden-centred. The Torn Up Marriage by Caroline Roberts was a stunning dissection of a break-down of a previously sturdily-built marriage. Not shy of the uncomfortable, the story of Kate, Michael, and their beautiful daughters was

This story kept me on edge with how hurt the heroine was. Just how the fuck can the h still love the H after all the shit he put her through! He didn't show that he loved her I mean he said he did, but nope that's not love...if I'm correct he introduces his kids to home wrecker in like the first month after he cruelty leaves the h to go live with said bitch.

He's 9 months with this home wrecker and stupid ass heroine still pins for him? 9 months!

This story was promising but it went to shit. I wo

Wow, I really liked this one. I got into a thread on a book group talking about books similar to the Unwanted Wife. So many good recs! One of my favorite tropes and while this one was a bit different, I still liked it.

This is not your typical romance- in fact, it's more of a story of survival than the hearts and flowers you might expect from the genre.  However, it's this realism which makes The Torn Up Marriage a captivating, if not heartbreaking, read.  From the moment Kate finds out about Michael's infidelity their world is spun on it's head and life is irrevocably changed forever.  It impacts on everyone around them, the ripples of their break-up affecting their young daughters, their parents, their frien ...more

This is such a humane and honest story about a marital breakup.
There is no preamble; from the opening words we know that something is seriously wrong with Kate's marriage: 'The front door opened and the fist around her heart tightened.' This lovely, normal family is about to be torn apart by her husband Michael's infidelity and the ensuing chapters show us the pain and hurt in every minute detail. Yet it would have been easy for the author to have gone down the stereotypical path, demonising th

I don't know why I put myself through this difficult read. Maybe it's a way to shake up my reads when I'm drifting into a funk. Nothing like getting a dose of the reality of marriage. There's nothing to it, Michael was a selfish bastard and I really felt for Kate and the kids. I'm so glad we get Michael's POV as well. At first all I can think about whenever I read his POV was "Bastard. Moron. Asshole." however further into the book when he started to realize what he had done ... I was starting t ...more

The aftermath of infidelity has been eloquently depicted in this highly emotional story. The way Kate handles her life after finding out about Micheal's cheating and walking out of their marriage is commendable. Worth the read!

I loved the plot, the writing and the author's voice in this story. Caroline Roberts had an amazing talent writing stories. Let's begin with the review part. I loved the heroine, plain and simple. Her reactions, her process of healing were very realistic and emotional, and it makes the reader connect with the character. Sometimes, she was a little softer towards the mistress, and I would liked her stronger concerning this situation. Girl!!!! this freaking slub stole your man put her in her damn ...more

Family, friends, food, a glass of bubbly and, of course, a good book make me smile. I love writing emotional stories about love, loss, betrayal, and family, that explore how complex and yet beautiful love can be. I also like to write romantic comedy, letting the characters have a bit of flirty fun too! I believe in following your dreams and working hard towards them, which led me to Harper Impulse ...more
