The long-awaited sequel to War's End: The Storm - Jess and her family have returned to Warsend and struggle to survive in the tattered remnants of the United States.
Danielle is a writer who has lived her life in the United States, moving from one place to another.
When she is not writing books and stories for the Danuverse, she can be found creating artwork and craft projects, writing for her favorite fandoms, cooking, photographing, and tending to her animals. Her favorite foods are artichokes and pomegranates, and she wishes to travel the world one day.
I really enjoyed the time jumps in this one! They flow really well with the overall story. Still feels really preachy and it was a bit more difficult to read for me than the Book 1 as I have noticed several very concerning statements and reactions from the POV's. But to be honest, yes they do connect to their religious (Christian) believes and the societal developments as a whole in the story, so are understandable... just worrying. I don't know if I will continue with Book 3, am still thinking about it!
Jess, David, Chris, Carrie, all those striving to make the world new; all their stories coming together in new beginnings, all that makes this a most satisfying read.
I loved these books! The storyline is on point throughout, the characters are so relatable & I'm glad it ended on a high note. It was like your readable apocalypse, but different in the way I would imagine it. There are some harsh parts & some not so nice language, but I really thought it is possible to imagine this scenario. For me it worked. The characters were phenomenal, Chris & Jess, siblings, separated for so many years believing each other to be gone. The remaining characters so good in their own way. But all reunited in a happy way. No loose ends! Nice read from an author I'm glad I found...😉
Have you ever read a book that you were constantly questioning? The characters' actions did not seem real, the situations were ridiculous and more? Well, War's End: A Brave New World (follow-up to War's End: The Storm) is not like that in any way. It is so believable it's a little frightening. After I read this book I wanted to plant a garden and stockpile things I could barter after life as we know it goes to hell. I love the self-sufficiency and resiliency of the characters and the story of a community coming together to survive. Read the first book, then get this one. You won't be sorry.
Never underestimate small town folk...backbones to stand alone if they must but with hearts to embrace others along the way. I just imagined my brother and sister and I...same ages being Jess, David and Tina ... Madge was a wonderful grandmotherly add. What If...great story telling...loved it and now on to more Shuck.
If you're holding this book in your hands or hovering over the “Buy Now” button, let me tell you—you’ve just stumbled onto something truly powerful.
A Brave New World is not just a story about survival—it's a story about resilience, rebuilding, and the enduring strength of the human spirit in the face of total collapse. Set in a post-apocalyptic America, this novel continues the journey begun in War’s End: The Storm, following Jess and a small group of survivors as they return to what’s left of Jess's hometown to reclaim their lives and forge a future in a world forever changed.
You’ll meet characters who are battered, grieving, and sometimes broken—but never without hope. Jess, David, Tina, and baby Jacob are a makeshift family bound together not by blood, but by shared hardship and compassion. Their journey is equal parts harrowing and heartwarming. It’s a world where the old rules no longer apply—and every step forward demands courage, ingenuity, and love.
If you enjoyed The Road by Cormac McCarthy, Alas, Babylon by Pat Frank, or One Second After by William R. Forstchen, then this book belongs on your shelf. Like those classics, it asks hard questions: What do we cling to when everything is gone? What makes life worth living after the unthinkable has happened?
Welcome to A Brave New World. I promise, once you start, you won’t want to leave it.
