If you're a teenager in a small, rural area, how do you exist when your eccentric, free-spirited parents are the town freaks everyone laughs at?

For sixteen-year-old Rainbow Honeywell—or Rain, as she insists on being called—the answer was to become the queen of all pranks. She never wanted to be a troublemaker, but the label quickly stuck when everyone in Huntsville, Kansas

”I wasn’t happy with all my choices in Turtle Bay, but no one could say I hadn’t learned from them.”

Tiffany King delivered a well written, low on the drama teen story. Sadly I’m about 30 years too old to be excited about what I read…

(Thank you Feifei for the gif!)

Still the characters are well developed and the turtles and the environment were poignantly represented. Rain was a very likable heroine as was her parents and all the supporting characters.

In my opinion, this story is tota

I was really excited to read Tiffany King's latest book. Her books always have the best characters and a unique storyline. And that is exactly what I found in Turtle Bay.

Kings characters are the ones that get overlooked by the popular crowd and have interesting circumstances. They always feel real and genuine.

Rain has some pretty interesting parents that any teen would be trying to hide from their judgmental peers. Her less than perfect behavior is a ploy to avoid the ridicule of those peers. An

What a sweet awesome story..
Loved every moment...

Oh guys!! This book was just awesome!! From the moment I started it and I was introduced to Rain..or should I say her real name as Rainbow...Nah...she would be upset with me for doing that... LOL...
Anyway, meeting Rain and her hippie parents in the beginning of this refreshing light read of a girl that really trying to find her true self. While she is an open person, she still struggles with with accepting some of her own identity issues...

Tiffany King has written another Young Adult book! This fact alone makes me happy, but that comes second to the fact that I truly enjoyed this book. When I first discovered King’s writing, it was through her YA books (Wishing For Someday Soon was the first). Her more recent books have been New Adult, and great in their own right. King’s return to YA exceeded my expectations. She definitely has a knack for it.

One of the greatest strengths Turtle Bay has is its characters. Rain/Rainbow was one of

I love Tiffany King's writing. I can't put it into words exactly but it leaves me feeling....better. It just is a palette cleanser.
Turtle Bay is no exception.

Rain (just Rain...) is one of those "kids" who is much wiser than her years. At just 16, she is the parent in her family in many ways. Don't get me wrong, she HAS parents and they do parent her (in a way that I would've loved to be parented) but she's a typical teen and is very much embarrassed by their eccentric ways.

Then there is Evan,

Sun, sand, surf, cute boys, kissing.... what more could I want in a YA book? Turtle Bay comes through with all of these and I absolutely want to get in my car and drive down to Florida tomorrow. I really enjoyed this one. It was fun, sweet and made me long for the days of summer.

Our main character Rain has just moved with her rather eccentric parents to Florida in hopes of making a fresh start. Rain had gotten into some trouble and now she is looking to turn things around and hopefully find her

With her signature wit, endearing characters and swoon-worthy moments, Tiffany King has crafted yet another wonderful YA romance novel. I highly recommend you dive into the pages of Turtle Bay.

The cover of this book made me totally flip out honestly. If it isn't blatantly obvious from this blog, I love anything to do with the beach and beach books are no exception. I love this cover and have been dying to read the book since the minute I saw it.

Characters and relationships
I felt like this book was driven by the different relationships in it. I loved Rain and Josh both and it was fun to watch their relationship go from where it started, which wasn't good, to, well, where

Tiffany has written another Cute, Fun & Sweet YA book which I love. YA has always been my first genre love since I became a booknerd!

A complete misunderstanding, abrupt assumptions, and a few catty comments have Josh and Rain at Odds at the beginning of this story. By some dumb luck of being at the wrong place with some not so nice people finds Rain in trouble and now having to pay for her mistakes. She is thrust into Josh's life on a daily basis and having to pay her debt to society. Over

There is something about YA. It doesn’t matter your age, where you’re from, or anything else, these are the books that make you fall in love with reading. Tiffany King’s, Turtle Bay, is no exception.

At some point in our lives our parents have embarrassed us to no end. Rain feels this way about her parents daily because let’s just say they march to the beat of their own drum. She tries to take the focus off of them in her Kansas town, and gets into trouble. When her parents are left a house in Tu

This is one of the best YA novels I have read in a long time! I fell in love with Butch and Buttercup right off the bat. They are the quirky, funny, eccentric parents that everyone wants (or thinks they want). Rain is the girl that I think everyone can relate to in some way. With her wittiness and humor, I wanted to be her best friend too. The story that unfolds between Rain and Josh is sweet and beautiful. I think it will remind readers of their first love.

The story moved at just the right pac

I have been waiting for this book for too long! I genuinely woke up at 5 am to purchase it... And it didn't disappoint! I loved this book, it was a quick read with a great story line. I also now want to go to Florida! As well as a chocolate cabinet!

My only few quirks was that often the writing style was really American! As a British reader some of the phrases irked me a little, and I did have to translate to my slang, I also felt like I could find a lot of the traits from her other books hidden

cuteness! cute book with enough drama to not be boring. I hate she didn't really leave it open for a series with her friends. I did like that the conflict didn't involve the characters relationship, I get tired of that.

4 stars -- I absolutely adore Ms. King's YA contemporary books, they are some of my favourites in this genre. And for some reason while I bought this book immediately when it came out, I didn't get to it right away. But it was exactly what I always love about her books, so I shake my head at myself for leaving it so long. (also, it's currently only 99 cents people -- if you love YA contemps, I recommend checking it out)

This is probably going to be a bit of

I've been in a YA mood lately and Turtle Bay just totally hit the bill for me. It's a sweet, wonderful gem of a YA novel. The story flowed from beginning to end, with a sweet uncomplicated plot, an interesting heroine, an intriguing good-guy, a hurricane, turtles, and a bit of bittersweet.

Rainbow or Rain, as she has demanded to be called, is the daughter of hippies. As the years have bounced along, her parents outlandishly eccentric ways have pushed her to become a pranking troublemaker in a des

Tiffany King is one of my go-to authors. Meaning when she releases a book, I immediately go-to it, and she definitely did not let me down with Turtle Bay. Everything about this book, from the cover to the characters, to the story is amazing. I absolutely loved Rain. I felt her struggle to come to terms with her not-exactly-conventional parents and learn to accept and love them just as they are, while at the same time learning to accept herself and bloom into the person she has truly always been. ...more

I love Tiffany King! I have read every book from her and I have loved every book from her. She is able to write captivating stories about characters that seem so real. The reader is able to relate with the love as well as the pain that these characters face. This is no different for Turtle Bay.

Rain and her family move down to Turtle Bay Florida in search for a new beginning. Back home Rain caused a lot of trouble, due to her family situation. Rain feels that Turtle Bay could lead to a fresh star

Annnnnd anther one knocked outta the park by Tiffany King!
There is nothing didn't absolutely love about this book.
Including Rains parents, truly they are awesome.
This book made a laugh, cringe with embarrassment and oh mercy did I ever cry, but most importantly it made me swoon!
Can't wait to see what's in store of the rest of this series.

I loved this book! Tiffany King did a fantastic job writing this YA novel.
Rain is a comical teen girl with a quirky set of parents, I mean, they did name her Rainbow! I was immediately drawn into her life.
As I was reading I would laugh out loud or cringe right along with Rain. The storyline was one I could see an actual teenager go through.

Looking for a fun, yet surprisingly deep beach themed book for summer? Look no further. Turtle Bay was filled with various issues to get philosophical over, characters to cheer on as they developed
and an enjoyable plot to sink into. A fast read, yet had substance, this is one book you should take to the pool/beach. Enjoy!

Turtle Bay is a stand alone book by Tiffany King. This solid beach read was the perfect summer book. The storyline was well thought out with lots of unexpected twists and turns. The characters had lots of depth, emotion and chemistry. Truly a great book that I would recommend!!!

I felt disconnected from the characters and the action. Several of the scenes and piece of dialogue were just cheesy. I did like that the big problem or climax at the end wasn't about the characters' relationship but about those around them and the storm.
