This initial short collection of poems by Anne Tammel is spellbinding, breathtaking, and replete all in itself. I most enjoyed the poems about the people and their various journeys as they traveled through this mystery and series of trials we call life. A definite must-read. While it is brief, this slim paperback with its exquisite writing, diverse blend of topics, and show of ingenuity is certainly a promise of great works to come from this multi-talented author of both fiction and poetry.

As a pause from my works of fiction, I offer this short but thoughtful collection of poems to the world.

About Paper Angels....

I have always been fascinated with cultural figures who dared to conquer tragedies or face great losses, or who dared to love, even when that love became forbidden. I relate to people who take risks and live on the edge of their dreams. I read about these cultural icons so much that they become real to me in the here-and-now. Their voices form a music in my head...that m

I loved these poems. It was like going into another world. I hope to read more of her poems in the future.

you will get caught up. Your heart will skip beats. Your mind will melt to the rhythm of abandonment and fulfillment. It is poetry at all its grandeur. Each poem a vein on your body, here and there, to keep you alive while you read -- and love. The wings of hope meet the winds that blow between the future and the past. I was caught up. It is obvious, don't you think?

This is one of the best chapbooks of poetry I've read in a long, long time. The title poem "Paper Angels" is a tribute to the many who lost their lives during the horrific tragedy of September 11th and the destruction of the former World Trade Center. The book itself is divided into seven sections. While each deals with its own set of concepts and thoughts, nonetheless, the artistic mind of Anne Tammel imbues each piece with a unique yet related soul. As the cover suggests, the reader is moved a ...more

I got this book through Goodreads Giveaways, and I love it. I don't think to apply for poetry giveaways because sometimes it's hard to keep track of the new or upcoming poets out there. I also don't know how to review poetry, which (since I like to write it) I should probably work on. But I like the way Anne Tammel writes. I like her voice and I think she has some very moving poems in here.
