Human-wolf hybrid Darci Diamond spends every full moon locked in auntie’s basement in Southern Oregon. Her excruciating shifts terrify her, the last one causing her heart to stop beating. Seeking a cure, she journeys to Los Lobos.
Ross Luparell returns to the struggling Tao pack, using his millions made in the tech industry to build homes for pack families in need. He never imagined he would also find his one true mate. But when a hybrid with the biggest green eyes he’s ever seen lands on his doorstep in the middle of a wicked summer storm, there’s no denying it. She’s the one.
She wants a normal human life, free from pain-filled shifts. He won’t give up on her Wolf, and will do whatever it takes to help her accept her true nature. But can he convince her to trust him with her heart?
Writer, urban fantasy and paranormal romance. Gamer. Lover of matcha tea, dark chocolate, and exercise (no kidding). I write about the sexy and mysterious creatures of the Otherworld. Vampires, werewolves and all manner of Fae hold an extra special place in my heart.
It’s been a while since I have read any Young Adult Werewolf stories, and I was ready for this sweet little novella, Diamond Moon by Celia Breslin.
Darci’s parents had died and all she had left was a map leading to a mystery town. She is half human and half werewolf. Her desire is to be all human, so hopefully whoever is in the mystery town can help her to quit shifting. Last time her heart stopped. How long before it kills her?
Thus, the adventure begins.
She’s going solo. She is creeped out by the forest, which usually brings her comfort and puts her at ease. Maybe that is a sign. Is someone or something out there?
We meet Ross. He is all wolfy male, wanting to escape the city and find more meaning for his life. He walks away from his computer job to build houses, though he still keeps his hand in technology.
Okay, I think we all know where this is going, but I am having a great time getting there.
I quickly fell in love with Mister Sun God Sexy. I love his Big Bad Wolf attitude and his pet attack cat.
A lot is packed into this short story and I loved it.
I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Diamond Moon by Celia Breslin.
Ross the wolf with a happy childhood and Darcy the half-wolf who may die in 2 days.
Darcy arrives in town on a stormy night, hoping to find a 'cure' for her werewolf half. Every month she is torn apart by the change and this time it may be too much for her to survive.
Ross is her mate and will do his best to save her, but first he must help her embrace her wolf half.
It was a fun read with lots going on. Darcy is a strong h and Ross is a loving but strong H. There's some humour some decent action and spicy mate times.
Gee is his usual borderline d*ckhead enigmatic self. Will someone ever write a love story for him??
Diamond Moon is book twelve in the Black Hills Wolves series by Celia Breslin and can be read as a stand-a-lone.
CBreslin did a great job with the writing. I have read only one other book in this series and it feel below pair for me, but Diamond Moon surprised me with the story and writing.
Darci our human-wolf hybrid has a big problem that could end with her life. She comes to the Black Hills seeking help and ends up finding more then she expected.
Ross our full-blooded wolf never expected to find his mate when he came back to the Tao pack to help them rebuild. He has to find a way to save her and help her accept the wolf inside.
Though the plot is not complicated their is a little conflict. Darci is not her father, but because of who he was and the type of wolf, it causes fear in the pack and others to see her differently. As for her little problem well I was impressed with the description of this issue and a little turned off (you will have to read to find out), but mostly impressed on how the author portrayed this. Ross really moved me with his understand. He held back his wolf, since he understood that Darci does not understand or know that they are mates. He helps her feel comfortable and when it’s time to save her, he follows his instincts. The relationship builds nicely for a short story.
All around Diamond Moon was a good read and I enjoyed CBreslin’s writing style. If you enjoy quick insta-love reads, then this book is for you.
* Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy provided by Celina Breslin via Bewitching Book Tours with the sole purpose of an honest review. All thoughts, comments and ratings are my own.
Having read and enjoyed two other books by this author, I was more than willing to read this one, in exchange for a fair and honest review. When I realized it was about wolf shifters, well that was just the icing on the cake for me. From what I can tell, this is the twelfth novella in the Black Hills Wolves series, all written by different authors. And yes, those are some novellas I will looking at when I want another good, shorter read in the future.
Darci Diamond is a wolf/human hybrid that pretty much grew up with only her human aunt, from the age of six. Therefore, there was no one to teach her about shifting, or about being a wolf in general. After shifting with each new moon in agony for years, she decides to go in search of her deceased father’s pack for help. She has some misadventures from the beginning, and ends up at Ross Luparell’s house in the middle of a bad storm. She thinks she is at a bed and breakfast(not), he thinks he has just met his mate.
I enjoyed both Darci’s character, as well as Ross’s. Darci has pretty much come close to death on many occasions due to shifting so she is pretty desperate. Ross is a super nice guy, rich, but using his money to build houses for homeless wolf families-of the shifter type. The villains come into the story due to who Darci’s father was, and what his job with the pack was-I won’t go into details but he wasn’t popular, to say the least. Since it was a novella, I don’t want to tell anything more about this story.
This read was a super sexy read, and I really enjoyed the main characters, and their romance. I was actually wishing for a much longer story, but since this is a novella series, I was okay with that. I would recommend this to adult shifter romance fans. All of this authors books have been good reads for me, and I look forward to my next one by her.
One more thing? I love this cover-one of my favorites of all the shifter books I have read!(RabidReads.com)
I received this book from a contest...I am so glad I did! I feel like I won big...First this is not a book I would have gone looking for. There are explicit sex talk and content that I am usually uncomfortable with! I wasn't with this book. Even though there was that kind of action it flowed completely with the story and the characters. It was romantic! It wasn't just sex scene put here and there!
Now the storyline. Once I started reading I could NOT put it down. A young woman Darci Diamond goes looking for answers about her problem...she is half wolf and the shifting, which she is fighting, is killing her. Her parents were killed when she was young and she comes across a letter from her father about where he is from. He tells her to trust two people. She heads to the town meets one giant of a bear (one she can trust) and he tells her to go to this house...Thinking its a B&B she heads to it!
Well it's not a B&B, its a home belonging to a male wolf (the son of the other man she is to trust)...She crashes in on this hunk of a man who in all reality is her mate! Ross helps Darci with her shifting! She learns what her father was and why he left. She fears what will happen when others learn she is half human and half wolf. When Ross introduces her to other wolves as his mate she learns what happened in the past. How are both going to overcome the past. Ross guides her, knowing all that matters to him is Darci is HIS mate! Darci learns to trust and well the rest you've got to read...I feel like I wrote too much! But like the book I couldn't stop! IT was amazing and now I am off to purchase the next ones and read (hibernate some more)!!
I have been craving a good werewolf book. I absolutely loved this story. I was bummed to see how much of a quick read it was. I am craving more of Russ and Darcy!!
I haven't read the other books of this series by this author, but I really liked this one I have read a book from this series written by a different author. :) That's kind of cool if you ask me. Different authors writing in the same series! So, when I signed up for the release day for the next book and figured I should read this one too :) So, let's talk about fun wolfy things LOL. Plus I just like werewolves, and this is a sweet, short, fun little adventure!
Darci Diamond is a half breed. She has lived as a human, who hates and fights her wolf side. Her parents died when she was young, and her aunt raised her. Her aunt being human didn't know things about the werewolf part, so she did the best she could. But now, this last shift almost, well kinda did, kill Darci, so she's searching for help. From some unknown, unlikely sources, names her father left in a not to extensive letter. Poor kid. She didn't understand the wolf side, or how other werewolves live or act with each other. She also didn't know who her father was to this pack. So when she stumbles blindly, and a little naively, into unknown and unwanted territory, she's in for a rough ride. But at least Ross is a hawt piece LOL. I felt bad for Darci, though she over reacts a lot, she doesn't understand, so she is forgiven for her crazy. LOL I liked her though. She's had it pretty rough and I think she's overcome a lot with just a little.
Ross is some kinda sexy. He's the perfect guy for me. Werewolf, loaded, but giving away his money, sweet, kind, funny, walking sex piece. LOL See, perfect. He's even extra nice to some crazy girl covered in mud who shows up at his door. And then he smells her. She's his mate. But now he not only has to to teach her everything but explain things to her. I loved him. And I loved that he was willing to do ANYTHING for her. And he can cook! YUM!
The "bad guys" aren't really bad guys. First off, Darci is her own worst enemy, so she's fighting herself. It takes a good while for her to figure that out. Second, the bad guys actually have to over come a little prejudice so they aren't really bad, though they had me scared for a bit. Sometimes the past isn't always the best place to live in or rely on for info. :) Overall, the plot kept me interested and this is a short story, so it's a quick read! I can't wait to get more from this series! 5 WOLFY PAWS!
Independent reviewer for Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock. Diamond Moon by Celia Breslin tells the story about Darci a young girl that has to be lock every full moon on her aunts basement that based on a letter left by her dead father ventures into Los Lobos to seek help before she dies from shifting. Ross is in Los Lobos working to help out by building ousts when one night Darci knocks on his door and his world changes. As soon as he sees Darcy he knows that she is more than a regular girl. As he gets to know more about her and finds out about her struggles with shifting and how much she is suffering he vows that he will do everything in his power to help her. I have to say that I love how he doesn't let her situation bring him down or knowing that she doesn't wanna shift anymore stops him from showing her his wolf and well as how much she means to him. I really like the story it was a quick read but I really recommended if you love a good shifter story. I give this book 5 fangs!!!!
What an adventure Darci Diamond has in this 12th book in The Black Hills Wolves series. Half wolf half human raised in the human world after her parents die when she's 6. With no other shifters known to her her own shifts are not pleasant. Following instructions left to her in a letter from her father she has a not so pleasant introduction to the pack she hopes will help her. Ross knows the half human is his mate but also knows he must tread lightly or risk losing her to her human brain's desire to fight against the wolf. He is a compassionate and dominate male Darci cannot ignore. These characters draw you into their complex troubles keeping you reading, hoping, waiting for them to work everything out.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Once I started reading I could not put it down until I finished the very last page. This book moved along at a great pace, not to fast nor to slow. It has awesome characters that you want to know more about and a story that will keep you interested and entertained from beginning to end. I would have no problem suggesting this book to family and friends. It should be on your TBR list, there is no doubt about it.
This was a nice story with some nice heat. The two characters were well drawn. BUT I wish the writing hadn't been rushed in places. I want to sink into the story, experience it. And sometimes the author did that, but often she didn't. Show me exactly what the characters are feeling. Paint a picture.
But this niggle is not going to stop me from reading more books by this author.
I am loving these books and once I start I can not put them down! Darsi comes to the Hills to try and find a way to get rid of her wolf side she is part human and she died the last time she shifted. But she has found her mate and the full moon is in two days will she live through this shift?
This review is a long time overdue. I read this book a while ago, but the characters stayed with me. If you're into werewolf reads with plenty of chemistry, a sweet love story and hot sex, Diamond Moon should be on your must-read list.
