In order to maintain her dignity and her inheritance of Edzell Castle in the Lowlands of Scotland, Brianna Lindsay decides to keep news of the recent death of her father a secret. Otherwise, a forced marriage between Brianna and her despicable cousin, Lord Robert, is inevitable.
When a small retinue of Highlanders, lead by Colin MacKinnon, show up at the gates with Edzell's Captain of the Guard, who has been mortally wounded in a savage attack, Brianna is left with almost no protection. Though h

Insta-lust historical romance with highlanders. I got about 30% in before I decided to throw in the towel. I just wasn't seeing why these two were so into each other. I need more build up, more tension in my romance. This was too sudden, too cheesy for me.

Ok Madeline Martin has done it yet once again. Like I have said before I really like my Highlander Men. This book was filled with Love, Romance, and you cant have one with out the other deception. Brianna and Colin's story will keep you on your toes and on the edge of your seat. Colin MacKinnon wants to show his father that he can lead and he has set his sites on Brianna Lindsey. Brianna has a secret that she is trying to keep from her uncle till she can prove to him her legitimacy. And time is ...more

In this Scottish romance, Colin MacKinnon, eldest son of his clan’s laird, is on a mission to prove to his father than he, not his minutes younger twin brother, Ian, is capable of becoming their leader. He devises a plan, with the help of his sidekick Alec MacLean, to marry Brianna Lindsay, heiress to Edzell Castle. Colin is so dreamy, "he gave a low chuckle and broke off the kiss. “I canna listen to those sounds ye make or it will be a short celebration.” His words were lost to others beneath the cheers of the congregation. “But tonight—” His lips grazed her neck, just below her earlobe. “I promise to make ye verra, verra happy." The playfulness between Brianna and Colin was adorable and cute, "indeed. He wears no shirt at practice. Most barbaric.” Her fingers splayed across his fresh leine, tracing the fi

I had the opportunity to read this book prior to its release. This is the second book by Madeline Martin. I had a hard time putting this book down. Brianna is a strong woman and does whatever she needs to in order to protect her people and home. She does not want to give up her freedom as she witnessed between her own parents. That is until she falls for Colin. There are many times that she questions his honesty and his plans for her until that moment when she recognizes her love. Colin plans to ...more

Possession of a Highlander is yet another action packed, sizzling Scottish romance. The emotion in this story was so deep, you could really feel everything the characters experienced. I laughed, I cried and I absolutely loved this book. Highly recommend and am already looking forward to Madeline Martin's next book.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.

Brianna has just buried her father, who died from illness. Only a few know and have been sworn to secrecy. If they find out. Madeline will be married to her cousin Robert before she knows it.

Bernard, her Chief of Guards has been brought back home by 2 strangers, Colin and Alec. He had been sent on an errand but never made it, he was assaulted and left for dead. He dies soon after being brought home.

Colin has noticed that the keep is barely mann

In her follow up novel to Deception of a Highlander, author Madeline Martin has crafted a beautifully written story of a strong, sharp, yet emotionally-driven young woman, Brianna, and her taboo love for a Highlander. The characters are constructed with such empathy and accessibility, especially Brianna, that it's almost impossible not to get drawn into the story instantly. Historical romance is not my usual go-to genre, however, I have truly enjoyed this visit to the Scottish Highlands and am m ...more

Madeline Martin's second Highlander book has surpassed the first! Crisp writing will make you feel as if you're within the castle walls alongside the strong female lead, Brianna. She fights with passion and passion joins her fight when she surrenders to her desire for the Highlander that enters her life.
From battle scenes to steamy romance, Martin sets the tone and connects to the reader throughout the book. Great read!

I really enjoyed this book. We met Colin (and Alec) in the first book. But this book is totally stand alone - other than a vague reference to Colin working for Kieran, there is no connection between the two books. The Colin in this book was different than the Colin in the first book. Colin was more focused and serious than he was before.

Brianna has problems. Her father has died and neve

Two people have never longed for anything as much as Brianna and Colin. Brianna longs for her freedom. Freedom to live her life as she chooses, to be able to make her own decisions and not be held under a man's thumb. Colin craves respect and validation from his father. When the two meet sparks fly.

Brianna has seen nothing but the bad things that marriage has to offer. Her mother suffered horribly at the hands of her father and Brianna has decided that she will never be accountable that way. She

Madeline Martin is a great writer and I find that I really like her books. They are well written, suspenseful, and what I love most.. romance. This is the second in the series called: "Deception of a Highlander". I have read the first book, but I did find that this can be a standalone book if you are not able to read them in order. Brianna Lindsay is the heroine and after the death of her father she is struggling to hold on to everything. She feels that if word got out she would be forced into a ...more

This is too good! Way too GOOD!

I have officially completed the Highlander series and I have a burning urge to re-read the first and last book again. There is just something about the way Madeline Martin writes these novel that makes it so tragic yet so beautiful!

In the first chapter, we meet a broken Brianna, sadden by the death of her father. To rub salt on a fresh wound, she come to realize her Captain of the Guard, Bernard returned to Edzell - dead. Bernard however, did not return alone, a Hi

I really liked this one. Our h, Brianna is a strong one, with guts and a backbone. She if feisty, and can react without fully thinking everything through but she is endearing. And Colin... while he had some devious plans of his own, you can't help but love him. He has some good intentions and a sweet side- he had highhandedness but he truly did care about Brianna. And just imaging his Scottish brogue... so nice. There also were some pretty steamy scenes for a historical romance that I thoroughly ...more

He decides that he must woo and marry Brianna Lindsay, take her land, and estate, and show his father that he capable of running a clan. Brianna was never legitimized by her father, even after his death. Afraid of her uncle gaining the title, she keeps her father's death a secret. I did enjoy this book. This second book in the Heart of the Highlands series is full of excitement, adventure and romance. Madeline Martin has a gift for taking you into the story and making you feel like you are right there watching the characters in person. The good characters were enchanting and I found myself caring for them all. The villains were so evil you are anxious to see them stopped. Along with the romance was a page turning excitement that had you wanting to read faster to see what was going to happen nex ...more

This is the second book I have read and reviewed by Ms. Madeline Martin and it nothing short of a masterpiece in my opinion. Another PHENOMENAL book by Madeline Martin! Seriously, this woman knows how to write some historical romance...

Let's just say that I could NOT put this book down. It was that good.

Now, I read Madeline Martin's first book in this series, DECEPTION OF A HIGHLANDER, and that's what made me fall in love with her storytelling. Her ability to make me become enamored with a genre that generally bores me or confuses me is simply fantastic. I was sucked into this Highlander world and stayed there.

Another fun Scottish adventure from Madeline Martin! I loved her charming characters, Brianna and Colin. They share a scorching chemistry together, let's not forget their steamy passion. They were really meant for each other. Possession of a Highlander is action-packed, romantic and fun to follow the hero and heroine as they embark on a dangerous journey! Can their love be strong enough to survive betrayal and lies?

Another fantastic Scottish romance from Madeline Martin! It has all the intrigue of the first Heart of a Highlander novel, but I absolutely adored the main characters of this one.
Brianna Lindsay is a terribly clever lady, she should be absolutely loved and happy... but it is not as it should be. She's never known the love of her father and was isolated from her mother almost at birth. Now her father has died and to save the Lairdship and her inheritance from her horror of a cousin and uncle, sh

Let's look at the plot,

Brianna Lindsay is in a precarious situation.
Her legitimacy is in question.
Her people in danger.
Her lecherous cousin plotting her failure and vying for her attentions.
Knowing that as her father passes away she will not inherit Edzell Castle.
So she comes up with a simple plan.
Don't tell anyone her father passed away.
What they don't know won't hurt them right? Well...wrong. It's a lot harder tha
