Hope is a dangerous thing, but powerful. Hope keeps you going. Hope can keep you alive.

But hope can shatter your world.

Kat and Dylan have found a home, but the monsters are still out there. The pox and plague still ravage the world. They have hope of finding a vaccine, but their encampment isn't equipped to develop it.

Dylan is still too weak from the pox to leave the enca

Spoiler-Free Review:

Rating: ★★★★★

The Ash and Ruin series by Shauna Granger has been a solid, suspenseful, post-apocalyptic series. Age of Blood is a fantastic ending to this scary and horrific story. I devoured the other two books in the series and the final book did not disappoint. I want to keep this as spoiler-free as possible so just know that the plot thickens, the series grows darker and darker and then you are faced with the trial

I reviewed this series as a whole on my blog. I loved this series! There were a few small things about this last book that made me love it slightly less than the first two books (but most of the elements of the series that I loved were still there). Here's the part of the review that applied most specifically to book #3 and what held me back from giving it 5 stars:

Dylan wasn’t present for most of the third book,

This last book was dark. Way dark. Kat has a big chip on her shoulder to resolve. The her camp thinks they have a cure. I hated the split of her and Dylan. This book brings characters from a past books as well as new ones. People are evil and twisted in this one more than ever before. And the Pesta's are adapting at a rapid rate. I love how well behaved Blue is. We never see her training him but he has all sorts of signals down! Amazing dog! The ending had me really on edge and honestly until th ...more

WOW. Just wow. I had a chance to read Age of Blood in beta for the incredibly talented Shauna Granger, and let me say--this book really killed it (pun only half intended?). AOB is, in my opinion, Ms. Granger's strongest work yet, and I am in awe of how much heart and soul she poured into this series finale. It's dark, it's violent, it's brave, it's creepy. And most importantly, it's beautiful.

I will warn you, though--this book is nearly impossible to put down. It hurtles toward its destination w

I cannot believe the world of Ash and Ruin is over. I loved the take on post-apocalyptic Shauna Granger, takes in this series. The Pesta spreading disease and death were ever they go. Even within the safety of the compound, Kat and Dylan may not be safe. Kat risks everyitng to go get supplies and tools that may give the remaining humans a fighting chance against the Pox and Pestas. Everything I loved about this series continued in Age of Blood, and there were defiantly some satisfying conclusion ...more

If I wasn't already totally hooked on this trilogy, I might have started on it as soon as I saw the cover of this book. Isn't it gorgeous and cool!

Anyway...

I loved the previous two books, so I ordered this book as soon as I saw it was available on bookdepository.

And this book is an wonderful conclusion to an awesome trilogy.

I was a bit apprehensive that Kat and Dylan were splitting up, but Granger made it work. I could understand why Kat takes on a mission that takes her away from Dylan. The te

The third book is even darker than the last with lots of unexpected deaths. You can try to prepare yourself but one just can’t. There are more details of the brutality that the humans in the Ash and Ruin World would face which I absolutely adore and feel bad for. *insert creepy laugh*

Kat’s character went through a lot of changes from the challenges that she faced and I find myself rooting for her and feel the roller coaster of her emotions.

I always like a good ending and t

I've been dying know how it all ends, and Age of Blood did not disappoint!

After learning just how to survive and depend on each other in the first book to taking control of their futures in the second book, their journey has not been easy, but Kat and Dylan have had each other. In this final book in the series, everything comes to a terrifying climax, and the monsters they encounter along the way aren't all of the non-human variety. The world is pretty bleak, and in some ways not cut out for tho

Like so many other writers, Shauna grew up as an avid reader, but it was in high school that she realized she wanted to be a writer. She released the first installment of her Paranormal YA Series, The Elemental Series, Earth, on May 1, 2011 and has since released four sequels, with the series coming to an end with Spirit. In December of 2013 she release the first in her Paranormal Post-Apocalyptic ...more
