The Ragnarök Chronicles by Nicki J Markus is three novels in one book (set out as three parts in the chronicles), and is the author's first self-published work.

It is based around the Norse mythology of Ragnarök - a series of events that ultimately result in the death of a number of gods. In this particular interpretation of the myth, the god Loki turns up in modern-day London. Here he meets a young human woman named Cassandra, who has the gift of foresight, and an unlikely alliance between the

This was my first read of either romance or Norse mythology. Nicki's passion for Norse mythology was obvious and I am consequently setting off now to learn more about it myself. It was an enjoyable way to read about it for the first time and easy to read.

The Ragnarok Chronicles by Nicki J. Markus is a romance novel that has very definite mythology intertwined within the storyline. Cassandra is your average young college student who doesn’t have anything that sets her apart from anyone else. Nothing that is, except her abilities to predict the weather and other ordinary day to day things. Her normal calm life then was turned upside down when she started having visions of a frost as well as a handsome stranger by the name of Tom Lockyer came waltz ...more

The complex mythology contained in THE RAGNAROK CHRONICLES is a mixture of truth as we know it and imagination. The characters are larger than life and yet are written from a new perspective that I enjoyed. The considerable length of this novel, 678 pages, ensures that the plot is a long and winding journey. Although slowly paced, I enjoyed the characterization of well known gods and how they are intermixed with contemporary beings.

I loved this book, I was so enthralled, I read it in less than 48 hours, forgetting to eat and sleep during that time almost. It is well written, well edited, and well researched. The heroine Cassandra is smart, brave, and likeable and Loki is heroic and lovable despite his flaws, just as he should be. It is one of the best novels based on Norse mythology I have ever read. Cassandra has always had premonitions and prophetic dreams or visions all her life and they have recently gotten stronger. S ...more
