Nat has paid his dues and just needs his first by-line to break into the journalism business. It’s gotten to the point where he isn’t too fussy about what magazine or newspaper that by-line is in either. When his friend and old newshound Al arranges an interview for him at the Velvet Glove, a private BDSM club, Nat figures all he has to do is show up, do the interview and ...more

This is why I like Sean Michael's writing. This and Bent. Why did zie stop writing like this?

The plot is laughably tiny: it vanishes at 4%, never to return. Then at 88% Michael goes "Oh, plot! Yeeahh . . . " and coaxes a tiny baby plotlet into the mix.

But who cares when what is left behind is one long, well-written, varied, and hot sex scene. Waxing, spanking, whipping, flogging, unwanted tattooing, anal training, exhibitionism: here is Sean Michael before zie decided to write BDSM books witho

If you love BDSM scenes, you should like this book. The plot is 90% relationship issues and play, with a small outside plot near the end of the book. Nat and Richmond fall in lust with their first scene together and the other "L" word was not far behind. I enjoyed their Dom/sub play, but found the story a bit over-the-top mushy. They both purred throughout the book and exchanged "Mine" and "Yours" at least fifty times. A bit too much for me. Overall though, not a bad read if you can overlook som ...more

Completely absorbed me

Warning: This review might contain what some people consider SPOILERS.

Rating: 9/10

- At first I was a little thrown by the fact that the chapters are all written in first person and that they alternate between Richmond’s and Nat’s perspectives. However, their narrative voices are very different, so it’s evident who’s speaking within about 3 words at the beginning of each scene. And by the end of the story, I had grown to really love the narration. Nat’s chapters are s

This was a bit of a one-handed read.

Loved this story! Nat’s journey and self-discovery kept me glued to the pages. It was very hot, insightful, kinky, fascinating.

Most of Sean Michael’s books do not work well for me – too much sex and dialogue mostly consisting of “mine/yours/love/need”. But the Velvet Glove series definitely is my guilty pleasure. And this instalment is one of the really good ones in this series, imho. The mine/yours per side ratio was bearable as was the love/want/need stuff.

There was 10% plot, 80% sex I was 10% uncomfortable

Ok so the plot goes like this Nate, a freelance journalist is prodded into investigating the private world within the BDSM club Velvet Glove. To that end and without realising there is a practical element, he interviews to be a sub there. At the club, Nate is told he must perform a scene with Richmond and of course Nate, without having any experience or knowledge of the life, roles up his sleeves and gives it the old college try. Richmond, for h

Strange. I feel like I might have read this one before. Or maybe I only skimmed over parts of it.

To put it bluntly, I am not entirely happy with this story.

Nathaniel’s switch from zero in terms of kink to addicted to the point of obsession feels dizzyingly abrupt. And this is one of the more hardcore versions of the lifestyle. Far from comfortable or sane.

More importantly, though, I don’t think I really like the protagonists all that much. (Even if even merely going through that list with them p

This book almost broke me. I've read a bit of Sean Michael and this had the most sex out of any of the ones I've read. There were a lot of typical Sean Michael in this though.

A sub who cried during his first enema from the embarrassment of doing it in front of his Dom. Oh, and the enema in the shower where everything goes neatly down the drain. I could swear that solid crap comes out during an enema so...I don't know what happened to that.

The secret/unwanted/reluctant piercing experience. Once

I almost feel as though I need a cigarette after reading that. I typically enjoy Sean Michael's work so I'm not sure why I kept passing this one over in favor of other reads. I enjoyed Nat's character and how he was willing to take the leap and explore something he didn't understand; what was best about him, however, was how he never let himself be turned into a doormat. As usual with this series, there was a lot of sex and while I expected that, there wasn't quite the variety of situations
This is Fiction with. Capital F. I'm not saying it's not written well, it is. It's just sooooo far fetched. I normally am not the type of person that thinks everything has to be close to truth. If you tell me the sky is green in a story, I try to believe it. But this is just constant sex and sexual acts that couldn't be good, health-wise for anyone. It's insta-love, which I don't have a problem with but a lot of people do. It's the sweet, romantic, feminine-type romance instead of the masculine- ...more
It's difficult for me to relate to this deep of a life style, but the Sean is able to make it clear that it is love and need and devotion that makes these men perfect for each other. I'm reading the whole series so it's really great reading about the differenct characters as they weave through the stories.

Nat is so curious, but curiosity killed the cat, or this time, caught the Nat :) He went in to the Glove trying to find a story and instead found Richmond, and himself.

Richmond thought he was g

I won't rate this one since I didn't make it to the end. I made it maybe halfway through when I discovered I indeed do have limits and this book crossed them. At one point I felt so sorry for Nat that I just couldn't go on.

I read this one twice...
Books that have no conflict in the relationship of the MCs bother me. We should fear for their relationships survival at least once. ..
