Can't wait to be done with the snow and still a snowstorm today (I think Mother Nature didn't get the memo we're in April ;p) but I was in the mood for a sweet Christmas story and this cute cover caught my attention a couple weeks ago.

It's been six weeks since Clare Morgan, a widow with a six-years-old son, settled in Knights Bridge and took the position of library director. As a part of the job, she also bring books to the seniors at the assisted-living facility. That's where she'll meet the

I received a free copy of this book to read in exchange for my opinion.
I wanted to like this book, but it was just 'okay' to me. I loved the idea of the story featuring a librarian, but found the character to be rather annoying with her over-protective nature being focused on too much. The dialogue seems forced and awkward at times. Too much back history of characters mostly irrelevant to this story muddled the plot. Had the potential to be much better.

Every time I pick up a Swift River Valley romance, it’s like visiting old friends. I just love going back to Knights Bridge and catching up with the residents. The books leave me all warm and fuzzy and A Knights Bridge Christmas is no expectation. Plus, Logan and Clare, cutest couple ever.

Here’s what’s going on: Clare and her six-year-old son Owen are relatively new to Knights Bridge but the residents have accepted them as their own and are eager to look out for them. Clare’s the new librarian

"A Knights Bridge Christmas" by Carla Neggers

My Thoughts....

If you like a sweet Christmas love story then this novel is for you. I liked how this author
was able to bring these two people together...Logan and Claire. Claire was a widow and new Librarian with a son Owen who had come to live in Knights Bridge. How will this all come about? Claire also did a

It was a little bit too predictable.

A cute addition to the series. I liked visiting the town of Knights Bridge one more time.

It is (nearly) halfway to Christmas!! So, time for my annual tradition of cheesy Christmas romance in July (Yes, I know it is June, but patience is not one of my virtues). I selected this book primarily because it was available on audio at my library and I have heard of Carla Neggers but have not read anything by her. Thought I would give her a whirl!

And, oh, it was painful.

It was painful for two reasons.

1) So this woman moves with her young son to a small town outside Boston to be the

Massachusetts town of Knights Bridge is a small town where everyone knows each other, cares for each other, and in some nice ways, the time seems to have stopped in town. The Christmas traditions are deep, and everyone is willing to help and put in the time and effort to make the whole town look festive in time.
As Logan and Clare starts to decorate the grandmother Daisy's house, a slow simmering attraction, and interest, start to burn.
Even though in my mind they seem very similar, in Clare's

Carla Neggers brings us back to Swift River Valley in A Knights Bridge Christmas. Filled with the joys (and difficulties) a New England winter can bring, along with pleasing references to A Christmas Carol, this quick romance lays on the charm.

This story actually took place during the same time period as previous installments Echo Lake and Christmas at Carriage Hill, so if you have followed along you’ll catch some of the

Not only was it boring, but it was also extremely annoying. HOW MANY TIMES ARE YOU GOING TO REPEAT THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER? We get it this character had a secret love affair and secret baby, this dude is a famous NHL player and a billionaire, these characters had marital issues. YESSSS I get it stop repeating it everytime you mention their names!

Very boring, forgettable characters, and glad its over.

Needed an audiobook while doing assorted Christmas tasks- this was available. So saccharine sweet I feel vaguely diabetic but made it through.

Clare Morgan is ready for a fresh start when she moves to the small Massachusetts town of Knights Bridge with her young son, Owen. Widowed for six years, Clare settles into her job as the town's new librarian. She appreciates the warm welcome she and Owen receive and truly enjoys getting the library ready for its role in the annual holiday open house. Clare expects to take it slow with her new life. Then she meets Logan Farrell, a Boston ER doctor in town to help his elderly grandmother settle ...more

This book was . . . okay. Definitely better and more festive than 'Take Me Home for Christmas' (another Christmas novel I rated on my Goodreads last year).
Overall, the story line was sweet and charming, and the the characters were likable. However, some of the wordings of the passages and dialogue and how ideas connected to one another were a little unclear, at least for me, and it seemed to always be slowly building up to, but never quite reaching the satisfying romantic climax I was expecting,

Two and a half stars, really. Rated the one before 3 stars, so this one needs to be 2 to round it out.

The reader will put you to sleep. She put me to sleep three times. A friend heard a tiny bit of this recording and said her review would be "wait for the movie." Her timing is off. Her accents come and go. And, the accents are completely wrong, which I know because I lived close to where this book is set.

This small town is full of people who fall in love quickly, deeply, forever, and have no

This book is part of a series of related Swift River novels. I know it’s a Christmas book, so I do judge those a little differently with more patience. But this was just too slow for me and simultaneously rushed. The author went into too many directions for a 250
page book. We see Clare’s anxiety (which never seemed out of proportion to me!) and Logan’s grandparents and a WWII angle and other couples in town, etc. as well as a super fast romance.

Even for a Christmas book, very little plot. Abrupt

I didn't much care for this book. Seems pretty far fetched that so many people in this small town, who don't know this woman at all, would have the opinion that she is an overprotective mother because of the legitimate concerns she has about letting her 6 yr old son do certain things. Especially Logan...a man she has known for only a few hours, when he first makes this observation to her. In fact, the entire plot of this book is implausible. Why are any current Romance authors still treating ...more

I noticed that chronologically this book takes place before Echo Lake, so if you’re like me and prefer to read books in the order that they happen, you’ll want to read book 5 before book 4. This was really sweet, and I loved the sense of community and Christmas magic that suffuses it. Maybe it’s because this book is shorter than the previous ones, but I didn’t feel the same sense of connection between Clare and Logan; it didn’t build the same way for me. I think they’ll be good for each other, I ...more

Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol " highlights some of this tale.
An overworked ER doctor, meets a young widow, who is the new town librarian. He is setting his grandmother in the aged care facility, and the GM requests he decorate her now empty house for Christmas, as had been traditional throughout her whole life in the house.
He persuades the librarian to help.
That where the story develops.
Best read the author's rendition, to get the engaging tale.

It’s that time of year when I like to read snowy Christmas stories with a touch of romance. I truly miss snow here in Adelaide as our Scottish Christmases were magical. But we have to make the most of what we have and my family makes it special for me. This is just a feel good Christmas story and hit the mark for me. This book like many of this genre was very predictable but fun. Thank you to Carla for reminding me of many Christmases past I really enjoyed your book ...more

I couldn't resist a Christmas romance with a librarian female protagonist! Add a sexy ER doc who has reluctantly returned to decorate the family home for Christmas. The townsfolk are protective of their new librarian and her little boy but not so friendly to the short tempered grandson of a beloved long term resident. Of course, a romance blossoms between this unlikely pair. Made me smile.

During this holiday season I succumbed to Hallmark movies and yes, even read A Knights Bridge Christmas. Newly widowed librarian with young son are starting over in Knights Bridge, MA. Getting to know the locals and local history, helping to empty a grand old home, learning to let go.
o yeah, and Christmas and a hunky guy!

I absolutely LOVED this book! This is my first Neggers book and it won't be my last. She weaves such a realistic plot with characters I swear I know. A touching Christmas romance that I highly recommend!

Just what I was looking for. An uncomplicated, sweet, easy romance. Haven't read any of the other books in this series, but she explained enough to get me by. I'm sure I would have enjoyed it more had I read it in order of the series, but this was fine. 3.5 stars rounded up because, Christmas.
