Wow. Wow. Wow. I'm kind of speechless. I had high hopes for this dumpster fire. Hopes-----> Extinguished.
So, I'm a moderate fan of the taboo/forbidden love books, but this one creeped me the fuck out! We have a 9 year old heroine during the age span of 9-12 years old. She has this, what started as kind sweet big brother relationship with her neighbor 6 years her senior, then took a left into skeezville, USA. The toddler (okay, she a 9 year old but still!) developes adult feelings and physical reactions to the 'big brother' figure. She is his best friend and he tells her everything, like not age appropriate everything. She has belly clenching and fuzzy warmth in her tummy and a legit jealous streak of the age appropriate girls he casually fucks. Oh, she also has...wait for it...wet dreams about him at this youthful age. He has these pervy reactions to her. He says he continually needs reminding of her young age, he gets super jeally when the NINE YEAR OLD mentions wanting to kiss a boy. He gets pissy of his douchelord dude friend because he thinks THE ELEVEN YEAR OLD has a crush on him. They share a bed snuggled together to watch Disney movies every week. So- yeah, if that makes me a close minded prude then I guess it does. I just couldn't get past the heebie jeebies during the flashback chapters of their lovestruck youth.
Now, onto their adult reunion. Jesus, Mary & Joseph... I just CAN'T! I get that there was supposed to be the impenetrable connection between them and her love was undying, unending, unconditional- but GIRLFRIEND at least ask him to wipe his feet before he uses you REPEATEDLY as his doormat. Oh, and of course we've got the eleventy-three chapters of him dry humping the doormat, while HAVING A GIRLFRIEND. But, not breaking up w her because he can't wrap his head around the age gap of he & the heroine. His dick was totes cool, but his head couldn't reconcile being with her??
His name is "Big No" in the book & boy was that apropos! He was an emphatically BIG NO!
He also took lessons from Annastasia on how to bite your lip in apparently the hottest fashion ever. His lip ring was mentioned 63 times. Yes, I actually searched the word "lip ring" and it was used 63 times. Not to mention the other times it was referred to as the metal hoop, or metal in his lip. Could just be me, but I found it excessive.
Lastly, this book had the absolute strangest typos I have ever seen. The tense of words was constantly incorrect. (Paraphrasing here- not actual examples from book)
'Oh, we already look there' (not looked)..... 'I never seen it' (not saw)..... 'She falling for the boy next door'.(not she fell)
I had to re-read these sentences and wonder WTH was with that. It wasn't every sentence so the author obviously knows how to use correct tenses on words, but how did so many of these get included. These weren't even ways spellcheck could autocorrect you. It was just very odd to me. So easy to see by any beta much less editor.
After all that, why did I give it 2 stars? Well, I'm the worlds biggest sucker for the sweet heroine that has autrcious parents & keeps a soft heart through it all. That's my soft underbelly & this one had it. Even though she was an annoying martyr that needed to stand up for herself. So based on the fact that I finished it despite the cheating (which is typically an instant DNF for me) I did root for "Little B" to have
a happy ending. <------ just not in her tween wet dream.

I really liked the premise of this book but it ended up missing the mark a bit for me. The first like 70% of the book was a solid 4 star for me but then I felt like it started to drag.
Brooklyn was 100% sure of what she wanted and I loved that she went after it. She wasn’t afraid to put all her cards on the table. Her ability to forgive Noel’s mom spoke hugely about her character, and her willingness to make some sort of effort with her own parents was impressive. She was sexually confident and self-assured, honestly, I felt she was too good for Noel. She was definitely good for him, she helped him be better, but I’m not sure he was good for her.
Noel just wouldn’t make up his mind! It was infuriating. I understood where he was coming from, when he left town Brooklyn was just a kid, and he continued to see her as a kid the entire time he was gone, I’m sure it was shocking to see her as a woman, let alone a woman who he might have feelings for, I just wish he had been more decisive. She helped him a lot, from the time they were kids to when they were adults, I felt like Brooklyn was this driving force in Noel’s life but he didn’t ever return the favor.
There are a few warnings I would throw out before anyone reads this book The other thing I would caution readers about didn't bother me but I've seen some other reviewers comment on the "creepy" factor so I felt I should mention it anyway. Nolan and Brooklyn meet when she is really young, and she pretty quickly develops a serious crush on him. In the flashbacks she's 11 or 12 years old and her crush on Nolan is something at the forefront of these flashbacks. They're told from her POV so obviously you hear what she feels toward him.

Stephanie Witter took me on a journey of ups and down, of self discovery and realization. Six Years is a friends to lovers romance with an age gap added to the twist.
Brooklyn and Nolan met when she was only 9 and he was 15. Fast forward some years and Brooklyn is now 12 and Nolan, 18. Right at that moment you know in your heart that the age gap between these two best friends was going to be one mother load of a problem (understatement of the century!)
Little B has loved and crushed on her Big No since she was 9 but Nolan always saw her as this mature young 12 year-old girl whom he loved like a little sister. They’ve been in each other’s lives, constantly being there for one another since both of their parents basically abandoned them. His mother was a junkie, and her parents downright neglectful with not one caring bone in their body.
Brooklyn has loved him secretly, always supporting him. She’s his number one fan but she knew deep down that Nolan would leave her behind to pursue his dreams of being this big bestselling author. What Brooklyn never saw coming was Nolan’s erupt departure without a mere goodbye; all he left behind was a letter and with him he took a part of her heart. After that moment you witness a part of Brooklyn shatter and she’s forever changed.
Moving forward 6 years, Brooklyn is 18 and Nolan now 24. She’s no longer a little girl, but a strong, beautiful and independent young woman who has struggled, and faced challenges on her own. Having Nolan walk back into her life rocks her world and let me tell you, shit happens lol. I won’t say more because it’s a crucial part of the story.
This book didn't grab me in at first, in fact I wasn't enthralled until farther in the middle where I was forced to hold my breath while I sobbed because the angst was too much to handle! Brooklyn and Nolan’s story isn’t easy. It was so intense you will have to grip on to something and hold on for dear life. Kudos Stephanie, for doing a phenomenal job with this book!

Six Years by Stephanie Witter had angst written throughout her newest release. The title alone already hints to readers what to expect in this book. Six years is the age gap between hero and heroine and six years was the duration of time that they were separated. So fast forward to six years later, Nolan is back in his hometown and reconnects with his childhood friend, Brooklyn and this time he finally sees and wants the only person who mattered to him. So after six years, can Nolan win the heart of Brooklyn?
I enjoyed reading Six Years but I didn't love it as much as I would have wanted to. This book had angst throughout the story line but the only problem I had with this book was the lack of connection I had to any of the characters. Personally, they didn't come off as characters who stole my heart but instead I found them to be frustrating at times. Overall, I enjoyed the book but the lack of connection I felt to the characters turned me off from truly enjoying this book.

What a great read! The writing keeps you involved 100%! Brooklyn and Nolan are today 18 and 24 years old, respectively. 6 years is the age difference they have and 6 years is the time since they last saw each other. They used to be neighbors and best friends, but there always seemed to be something more in their relationship than friendship. Love! But, Nolan was mature enough to keep his distance from Little B., as he called her. Little B. always saw Big No, as she used to call him, as her protector and friend. But, her innocent and virgin emotions of love for Big No began to threaten the dynamics of their friendship as she grew up.
Nolan decided to leave everything behind and move to another city in order to achieve his dreams. Nolan found it easier then to put his emotions on paper and write a farewell letter to her. Brooklyn never healed gracefully when her ‘love’ came to a crashing halt.
Nolan returns to his hometown after six years of total absence in order to be close to his mother who is gravely ill. Meeting Brooklyn, who is now a beautiful woman and not an innocent, little girl, awakens his well hidden feelings and his carnal desires for her. Brooklyn’s lustful emotions and her melancholy of her unfulfilled passion merge into one vast anguish. Tension is building, relationships are crumbling and hearts are being broken. Can Nolan and Brooklyn's relationship survive this whole ordeal?
The author’s writing style is amazing. It never gets either boring or flat. Ms. Witter does a great job keeping your attention throughout and really sucking you in. You will be hooked from the start and you will fall in love with these characters. This book is a definite roller coaster ride and I highly recommend it.

Six Years follows the story of Brooklyn and Nolan. Brooklyn has always been in love with Nolan. But a relationship between the two of them could never be. Why you ask? Brooklyn is 6 years younger than Nolan. Brooklyn hasn’t seen Nolan since she was 12 years old. When he left down, not only did he leave Brooklyn behind, but he also broke her heart. Six years have passed and Brooklyn is no longer the little girl she once was. Life hasn’t been too kind to her.
Nolan couldn’t wait to leave town once he turned 18. Brooklyn was the only happy thing in his life, but he needed to get away. He needed to do more with his life. One of his biggest regrets will be that he not only left Brooklyn behind, but he didn’t stay in touch. Now, 6 years later, Nolan has returned home. He claims he’s there just to see his sick mother, but he also wants to find the girl he left behind. He wants to try to reclaim their friendship. But, has too much time passed to get back their friendship? Will Nolan finally open his eyes and see that Brooklyn is not a little girl anymore?
Overall, I though Six Years was an ok read. I was in the mood for a really angsty read and this sounded like it was going to be the perfect read for me. It had a nice angsty start to it. Brooklyn all grown up, being a changed woman thanks to the life she’s been dealt. Seeing Nolan after all that time. The angst of their separation. The push and pull. Nolan coming to grips that Brooklyn isn’t a little girl anymore.
The things that I had a hard time with were some of the descriptions, especially with the sex scenes. There are certain words or phrases that frustrate me when they are used. I know that I am probably in the minority here, but it just didn’t work for me. I also found myself frustrated with Nolan a lot. I get and totally understand the internal struggles that he had and the issues he had to come to grips with. However, I felt like he was leading Brooklyn on. In the end, I was just left wanting more.
All that being said, I still found this to be an ok read. I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it either. Even though Six Years wasn’t a grand slam for me, I’m still glad that I checked it out.

Me pasó algo muy raro con este libro leí el prólogo y me gustó pero al avanzar a las primeras 35 ya lo estaba odiando la protagonista demasiado insufrible para mi gusto ya dije hasta aquí lo voy a dejar y dije leeré otro pero no pude porque no dejaba de pensar en este libro hasta que lo continúe y lo acabé.
Como dije la protagonista demasiado enfadosa y odiosa AL PRINCIPIO,pero cambió su actitud y llegó a ser lo que más me gustó del libro, es una chica decidida, fuerte pero a la vez es vulnerable está sola y necesitada de cariño, tomó decisiones equivocadas pero no la convierte en una mala persona y lo que más me gustó de ella es que está enamorada de su mejor amigo y se lo dice no se guarda ningún sentimiento por él, ella expresa todo lo que siente.
En cambio él me frustró no la quería como algo más, sólo amiga pero después la celaba y a la pobre la confundía y su indecisión la hacía sufrir y su único problema y el porque no quería reconocer los sentimientos por ella fue por una diferencia de edad de 6 años DIOSSSS!! eso no es nada, he leído de más años y lo tratan como si nada.
La historia es sobre un friends to lovers medio raro es una diferencia de edad de 6 AÑOS no los recuerdan en todo el libro, que empezó cuando ella tenía 9 y el 15 pero aún si crearon un vinculo inquebrantable y era amistad y la verdad fue una amistad bonita y tierna sus flashback de los mejor de la historia.
No es lo mejor o lo típico de este estilo de historias pero no es tan malo. Lo empecé odiando y me terminó gustando.

Como dije la protagonista demasiado enfadosa y odiosa AL PRINCIPIO,pero cambió su actitud y llegó a ser lo que más me gustó del libro, es una chica decidida, fuerte pero a la vez es vulnerable está sola y necesitada de cariño, tomó decisiones equivocadas pero no la convierte en una mala persona y lo que más me gustó de ella es que está enamorada de su mejor amigo y se lo dice no se guarda ningún sentimiento por él, ella expresa todo lo que siente.
En cambio él me frustró no la quería como algo más, sólo amiga pero después la celaba y a la pobre la confundía y su indecisión la hacía sufrir y su único problema y el porque no quería reconocer los sentimientos por ella fue por una diferencia de edad de 6 años DIOSSSS!! eso no es nada, he leído de más años y lo tratan como si nada.
La historia es sobre un friends to lovers medio raro es una diferencia de edad de 6 AÑOS no los recuerdan en todo el libro, que empezó cuando ella tenía 9 y el 15 pero aún si crearon un vinculo inquebrantable y era amistad y la verdad fue una amistad bonita y tierna sus flashback de los mejor de la historia.
No es lo mejor o lo típico de este estilo de historias pero no es tan malo. Lo empecé odiando y me terminó gustando.

Growing up, Brooklyn and Nolan were neighbors and the best of friends. It didn't matter that they were 6 years apart in age and Brooklyn was just 9 years old when they met. They both came from broken homes and despite the age difference, they understood each other. And over the course of 3 years, the two of them become each other's support system. On the surface it really is a brother/sister relationship, but Brooklyn's feelings start to become more. There are a few glimpses of something more from Nolan, but nothing ever comes of it. The two continue to be close until Nolan leaves for college and then they don't see or speak to each other for 6 years.
At the beginning of every chapter we get a different scene from Little B and Big No's past. These scenes were necessary because they gave a lot insight into their relationship. We see how they meet and how they both instantly felt a bond. We see how the two of them supported each other when they needed it. Nolan's mom was an addict which left him on his own, while Brooklyn's parents were mourning the death of her sister, a sister she never knew. They became each other's family. So to say that Brooklyn was heartbroken when Nolan left is a understatement. Not to mention that he never even told her he was leaving, he just left her a note. (That actually made ME really mad at him.)
Six years after he leaves for college, Nolan returns home to see his dying mother. It's a trip he doesn't want to take, but once he is there, one of the first things he does is find Brooklyn. And what he finds is a very grown up Little B. The two start spending time together and Brooklyn realizes that her feelings for Nolan have never gone away. And now that she is getting to know him as a grown man, those feelings are only getting stronger. Nolan is experiencing the same kind of thing with Brooklyn, but he is not ready to deal with it.
As much as I loved this story, I found it to be very frustrating at times. I didn't agree with the way he handled certain aspects of his life and it made me mad. Nolan could not make up his mind about what he wanted and felt that he led Brooklyn on. He had a hard time getting over the fact that Brooklyn was all grown up and more than once he used that as an excuse for his bonehead actions. I just kept thinking "GET OVER IT!! You two are meant to be together!!!!!"
There is a lot more to his book than just Nolan and Brooklyn's romance. The secondary story is about the relationship between Nolan and his mother. She is at the end stages of her life and while she doesn't really expect Nolan to forgive her, she does want the chance to apologize to him. Brooklyn, despite hating the woman while growing up, becomes her ally and it is mostly because of Brooklyn that Nolan does finally clear the air (kind of) with his mother.
Besides love, I think the overall theme in this book is forgiveness: Nolan forgiving his mother. Brooklyn trying to understand and forgive her parents for the way they have always treated her. And most of all, Brooklyn forgiving Nolan for leaving the way he did. This is an emotional read and I found myself crying multiple times (i.e. see below).
There is a moment towards the end of the book that showed just how much Little B meant to Big No, even if he didn't actually show it. It made me cry like a baby and showed just how strong their bond was and strengthened the idea that they were meant for each other. And if anyone deserved a happily ever after, it is these two.

Six years is the story about Brooklyn (Little B) and Nolan (Big No), best friends since they were young. They both have scars, wounds from their past, definitely not closed to their family , and a life too much depressing in a place called Riverdale.
They shared since the moment they met, an intense connexion, a bond that gonna lay them forever.
In each other, they found a safe place, where their lives weren’t miserable, someone they could rely on, where both of their family failed. But as their age difference, of six years, Nolan was the big brother, always being there for her, protecting her. She idealized him and had a crush since she was nine, but he never looked at her like a possible lover, just the little girl too much perfect, mature that he had to protect from the world.
This story is told from a dual POV, alternating between the past (Brooklyn’s memories, childhood) and present.
But one day, he left her, with only a letter explaining that he was following his dreams, to become a writer.
During six years, he never looked back or stayed in touch with Brooklyn. He was becoming famous and he was trapped into this place that she thought that she would never leave.
At the age of eighteen, Little B, got through a lot, with a family that didn’t acknowledge her, she tried to move on from both the rejection of her parents and especially Nolan, who left her and taking the little B with him.
She wasn’t expecting a relationship and was totally honest with her situation ; she enjoyed sex and she was having a life without too much complications, until Nolan’s return.
Through the memories of Little B, we could see how much these two were connected, how she was completely in love with him, his expectations and aspirations, how he felt not worthy at all of her, because she has a big heart, a maturity for her young age. They were comforting each other, bared their souls. We saw that Brooklyn was hurting because she couldn’t have him as a boyfriend. Always be the little sister.
These moments from their past helped us to comprehend tbe present. Now they both have different lives, totally opposite. One was achieving his dreams and the other was kind of lost, searching for a future.
All along the book, I was completely hooked, turning frantically the pages on my kindle, experiencing every moment, through happiness, pain, love, fight. I really love the banter between the characters. They were honest, and even on bad and hard times, there was this straightforwardness, very existing and important. Even if that their words could hurt one another, there was no bullshit or lies, just unsaid things by fear of the rejection.
And holy cow, Nolan was more than intense, he has this strength to fight for what he believes and coming back here and see that he failed and hurting Little B was unbearable. He knew that he messed up and destroyed her. He wanted to be in her life again but at this time, they were just strangers who shared a past.
But he was confused and scared by his feelings melting with his anger towards his mother. Playing hot and cold, when Brooklyn was admitting that she was still in love with him.
She could run straight to his arms but she was on her defenses, wary and let him know that he couldn’t act like that and messing up with her head. I loved that she was tough and the departure of Big No harden her.
Obviously there was this intense and sexual tension, and it was smoking hot!Just wow, their story was passionate, addictive, with his intensity of their feelings which was transcendent. Despite the hurdles and the years, they fought for what they have, but with Nolan’s girlfriend and Little B rejection’s issues, and a lot of catching up about each other’s lives, nothing was easy, everything was scary. Some drama wasn’t necessary at the end of the book but it worked for me, but at some point I was scared about the following events.
We didn’t have much sex scenes in the beginning, but when we have these parts, I could fully feel how much powerful they were connected, as one. ** SWOON and BLUSHES a lot **

And that about Nolan? I think I found my new book boyfriend !!! He was sometimes an ass, but know to admit when he was wrong and apologize.

Venga seré generosa y le daré 2,5 porque me hizo soltar alguna lagrimilla.
Este libro se merece que lo destripe como hice con otro que yo me sé pero es que no tengo ni ganas. En cuanto a libros frustrantes TOMAD ESTE COMO EJEMPLO.
La historia no tenía mala pinta, de verdad que no. A mí estos amigos que se conocen de pequeños y después pasan años sin verse pero uno de los dos mantiene ese amor secreto durante todo ese tiempo y cuando vuelven a encontrarse todo renace, me encanta. Pero esto... esto es un nivel superior a mierda pinchada en un palo. Está mal por todos los lados.
Primero: no sé por qué Brooklyn se enfadó con Nolan por despedirse con una carta de ella. Joder, si odia las despedidas y va a costarle despedirse de ti, mejor una carta que nada ¿no? Eso creo yo, vamos.
Dos: esa puñetera y recalquemos eso, PUÑETERA, manía de el maldito Nolan recalcar al menos 5 veces en una página «es que soy 6 años mayor que tú» MACHO QUE SIIIIIIIII QUE YA LO HEMOS ENTENDIDO TODOS PESADO DE LOS COJONES!!!!!! Que es que me tenías hasta el moño con la misma historia una y otra y otra vez. ¿No te aburrías de escucharte a ti mismo? Que cansino. Que para mí me parece una excusa bastante pobre, pero vamos, déjalo a él con sus cosas.
Tercero: los padres de Brooklyn, la madre de Nolan, Lena... la autora ha concluido lo que le salió del mismísimo potorro, es decir, solo la relación de Nolan y Brooklyn el resto que le den por culo. Porque ya me dirás tú, me metes ahí un párrafo diciéndome que de repente los padres de Brooklyn recuerdan que tienen una hija y después ni cuentas si han estrechado lazos o algo. Lena, esa zorra muerta de hambre, odiosa... te lo has sacado de la manga ese embarazo y llegaste como a insinuar que lo había planeado con alguien más pero tampoco acabaste de resolverlo, solo por tocar las narices...
Cuarto: ¿¡Se puede ser más rastrero que estos dos echando un polvo como si no hubiera mañana el día que se muere la madre de Nolan!? No me jodas, sí, fue una mierda de madre pero coño, se suponía que se habían "arreglado" una especie de "hemos hecho las paces para que vayas en paz" pero en vez de ser un hijo como dios manda, preparar el funeral o algo, no, tú vas a casa de Brooklyn y echáis un polvo para celebrar que el supuesto embarazo de Lena era solo una falsa alarma... MANDA HUEVOS CON LA MORAL DE ESTA GENTE...
Bah, y yo diciendo que no tenía ganas de destriparlo pero al final lo he hecho jajaja no pude resistirme. Las dos estrellas y media, como ya he dicho, van por la madre de Nolan, sí, fue una mierda cuando él era pequeño pero dios, ahora enferma como estaba me hizo llorar como nunca...

Six Years
packs a powerful punch of angst that will leave your heart an obliterated mess!
Brooklyn meets Nolan when she is nine years old. Each year that passes they become closer and closer, only depending on each other by giving one another the love that neither received from their parents. What started out as friendship soon turns into so much more for Little B, even though Big No only views her as the little sister he never had.

Nolan, my God this man is frustrating at times and Brooklyn, ugh I was so mad at some of her life choices in the six years that they had been apart. I found myself grinding my teeth, clenching my jaws as dare I say… anger radiated through me! This novel made me FEEL! For that and that alone, I was sold!
Nolan has dreams, dreams that Brooklyn believes in more than anyone. Having a junkie for a mom, he just wants to escape. To get away from the horrible upbringing he has had to endure. So he leaves. Everything should be great, right? WRONG! When he leaves he breaks Little B’s heart and shatters any hope she has left. She becomes a shell of herself, no longer the little girl he once knew.
Six years pass and Nolan returns. Again, this should be great, right? WRONG! The entire time he has been away he hasn’t contacted her in any way. At first she wants nothing to do with him and he’s doing everything in his power to make her see that they are the same two people they were six years ago. But that is where the problem lies. Brooklyn wants more, so much more. She wants him to see that she is a grown woman now but most of all, she wants him to see that she has always loved him. With his mother’s impending death, the six year age difference and one particular ex out to tear them apart before they even get a shot at something more, Stephanie Witter makes sure you experience every single emotion that every single character involved in this gut wrenching story feels!
Do I wish I would have gotten more at the end? Yes, of course! The entire journey I was on the sidelines rooting for these two characters. I like HEA’s but I love a good epilogue so I can reflect on their journey, so being able to see into their future a couple of years would have given me another reason to fall in love with this book. Overall, I really enjoyed it! The angst definitely won me over, completely without a doubt!

A second chance romance which worked for me ;)
This story is about Brooklyn and Nolan. Two people, kinda broken (Brooklyn a lot more) who find each other. When Brooklyn is 9 years old, she meets her neighbour Nolan who's 6 years older than her. Until he's 18, they develop a strong connection. While Brooklyn is in love with him, Nolan purely sees her as a younger sister. He's protective, caring and truly loves her, as a sister. He has a messed up home life, so when he turns 18, he leaves everything behind, including his "Little B".
By the time she's 18, Brooklyn is a changed person. Her tough life at home and Nolan, who was once her support system, being gone changed her... And when Nolan comes back, she's more aggressive, hostile and not the same Little B he left.
"I'm not naive and I am certainly not innocent."
"What happened to you?"
"I grew up alone."
In the years apart, Nolan has done well, becoming a successful author. But still, even when he comes back, he feels something is and has been missing. He has a GF who he lived with. And this is bad for safety people, but I also hate when the H/h date others on separation, but considering that Nolan really truly only saw Brooklyn as a kid sister before and there was NO romantic notions whatsoever, I expected it. Also, Brooklyn sleeps with many men while he's away. Other details on safety:
This book also had a bit of pushing away from the H. But i think it was completely natural considering he's coming to terms that he's now attracted to someone he used to see in pig-tails, someone who he previously saw as a sister. He regrets leaving Brooklyn, and trust me, she makes him work for it. You see his confusion, and his final result in giving in to Brooklyn. But what I loved is that Brooklyn wasn't a pushover AT ALL while still fighting for him to realise.
"I always think about you, my heart hammers whenever we're together, I want to touch you, kiss you and even if I'm crazy mad at you, I want to be in your arms because that's where I feel complete. -- Brooklyn
"It's still hard for me to realise that you grew up and that you're the same woman I want so badly. Unique and beautiful friends to lovers story. Brooklyn and Nolan have known each other since childhood. The two have never known love and acceptance until they meet each other. It doesn’t matter that six years separate them. She adores and looks up to him, and he gives her a sense of protection she has never known. But, Nolan knows he has to leave, or he will end up like his mother. When he leaves her with a note, she is devastated. As he is out making his mark on the world, she just settles in life. She shares a home with her unfeeling parents and moves from man to man. When Nolan finally returns six years later, neither are prepared for the upheaval their lives are thrown into. She never got over the crush she had on Nolan, and he isn’t anticipating the beautiful young woman she has become. As they reconnect, they are facing feelings they have never truly felt before. Will they be able to overcome the obstacles that conspire to keep them apart?
This isn’t your typical friends to lovers story since Brooklyn is so young, and there is six-year age difference. I could really empathize with Brooklyn’s feelings. What woman can’t remember the thrilling and confusing feelings of having a crush on an older guy? The progression and emotions in the change of their relationship is very realistic. Nolan really does have conflicting and confusing feelings. He has only seen Brooklyn as a little sister and seeing her in a sexual way throws him into a tailspin. They don’t just automatically fall into a relationship; it takes time.
Witter did a phenomenal job in her character development, especially with Brooklyn. She takes a young girl who has known nothing but pain and rejection and turned her into a loyal and loving character which makes readers loyal and loving to her. She had such a capacity for forgiveness. She was loyal and loved others despite their faults and imperfections. I loved Nolan, but the story really belongs to Brooklyn in my opinion.
I have been a fan of Witter’s from the very beginning of her foray into writing, and she continually grows with each book she writes. Six Years is my favorite from her so far. I suggest reading if you love a book that begins in pain and darkness but ends with love, joy, and light!

The blurb of this book immediately caught my attention...one of my favorites all in one. New adult check. Friends to lovers check. Second chance encounters check. I have really loved this authors work in the past so I was excited to dive into this one and I really liked it.
Nolan (H) has took it upon himself to play the role of "big brother" to Brooklyn (h). Brooklyn has used Nolan as her crutch since she was nine years old. She looks up to him and he's provided her security and the warmth she didn't get from her absent parents. Nolan has always seen Brooklyn as the "little sister" nothing more, but Brooklyn has been in love with Nolan for a long time.
When Nolan leaves without a goodbye Brooklyn is sad, angry, and becomes a slightly different person to make up for her loss. But six years later he returns hoping to make amends. Brooklyn is all grown up now and Nolan doesn't expect to feel what he does. Will Brooklyn let him back in? Will Nolan ever get past the six years difference and see her as an adult?
This story had a little love triangle thrown in the mix too, which I have a love/hate relationship with. The love triangle itself I was okay with but the other person involved I could not stand. I wish Nolan would have called her out on more. Brooklyn proves to be a stand up person through it all. There were times in the book I wanted to pull my hair out and yell at Nolan to wake the f up. Without spoiling anything when he finally came around I was doing a little happy dance. There is a twist and lots of angst in this one so be prepared.
I recommend this book as well as Patch Up Patch Up (Patch Up, #1) and Fix Up. I also named Stephanie Witter one of my top favorite new authors of 2014!

Holy Moses I loved this book! I was a little surprised at first by just how gripping Six Years was, I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I was pleasantly surprised. It starts off with so much emotion you cannot help but be drawn in.
The relationship between Nolan and Brooklyn is very dynamic and well written. You get bits of the past mixed in with the emotional upheaval of the present, creating a wonderful experience for me as a reader. I loved how firmly Brooklyn loved Nolan, even through her feelings of rejection and abandonment caused by his leaving. It was heartbreaking to watch her self-destructive actions and wonderful to see her take a firm stance with Nolan, even if he couldn't abide by it.
Nolan is a fan-fucking-tastic leading man. He has never thought of Brooklyn as anything other than "Little B" because he left when she was 12. Watching him struggle with the reconciliation of seeing her as a grown woman (well, as grown as 18 can be) was superb. Nolan never forgot about the sweet girl, and I really go the feeling that his heart was being ripped out as he learned how she had to survive his disappearance.
The only thing that was a bit off for me was the constant reminder of the age difference and length of time Nolan had been gone for (Six Years). However, most of the time it was Nolan bringing it up either verbally or mentally, so I understood it's place. His struggle is real.
There are many twists and turns throughout the book to keep you on the edge the entire time. Stephanie Witter is an amazing author with a true talent, as proven by her most recent release, Six Years. Grab this 5 cup book today!

Be prepared to be taken on an emotional rollercoaster that will leave you breathless.
This is my first book from Stephanie Witter, and I was blown away!! There were some editing issues, but the storyline was PHENOMENAL.....
I loved the dual POV and the flashbacks as well. You grow with their relationship while reading.
Nolan had a horrific childhood being the only child to an addict, he has dreams of being an author and nothing stops him from conquering them....... NOTHING, even if that means breaking the heart of his Little B.
Brooklyn has been in love with her Big No for years because he was the only person to ever show her compassion and love, but nothing is forever...... or is it?
Nolan and Brooklyn's paths cross 6 years later and there are tons of unanswered questions and a lot of heartache to mend. Tragedy brings two friends back together but is it too late to go back??
The journey these two go through is so emotionally charged I couldn't put it down.
There was so much emotion pouring through the pages I didn't want it to end.

Six Years is a heavy read. The story is an angsty melodrama of tangled and confused emotions. The writing is occasionally steamy, but predominately intense, heart breaking, agonizing, and enthralling. My heart is feeling more than a bit battered and there were times when I wanted to throw my beloved kindle against the wall. If Nolan were an actual person and I knew where he lived, I would be compelled to knock on his door and kick him in the shins for being such a douche waffle. I am not a big fan of angst, yet I had a hard time putting this book down, and having read this author before, with Patch Up and Fix Up, I knew it would be worth the discomfort.

I am not a big fan of angst, yet I had a hard time putting this book down, and having read this author before, with Patch Up and Fix Up, I knew it would be worth the discomfort.

Little B and Big No have a bond you can only envision; strong and protecting. But Big No, or Nolan, hits 18 and leaves for New York to embark on a journey towards his dreams, leaving behind Little B, or Brooklyn. 6 years later Nolan returns to his hometown of Riverdale to tend to his dying mother, a mother who neglected him growing up; chose drugs over her own son. Little B isn't little anymore. She's now 18 and rebel to some extent. When there paths cross, after 6 years of no contact, will the still have the bond of steel? or will Brooklyn carry on with life without him?
I love all of Stephanie's work, but this one's trumps the top! absolutely fantastic! There is never a dull moment and your forever getting whiplash. This story was full of hope, despair and heart wrenching moments. I was forever drying my eyes, whether giggling or sobbing, this story will move you like no other. phenomenal!

Me encantan las historias de amor prohibido de amigos-a-novios. Y esta a pesar de que tenia mucho potencial se quedó algo corta a mi parecer.
El protagonista, Nolan, aunque empecé defendiéndolo porque no debe ser fácil ver a alguien como una hermana menor y luego tener estos sentimientos y emociones tan intensos por ella, no estuve de acuerdo con algunas de sus acciones, y me sacó algo de quicio en los últimos capítulos. No lo pude comprender del todo.
Sí me gusto el personaje de Brooklyn, siempre fue directa con lo que quería, y no tuvo miedo de mostrarse vulnerable al decir lo que sentía.
No es de las mejores historias de este tipo, pero es buena para pasar un rato light leyendo.

Little B. an Nolan are 18 and 24 years old today, but what is most important is the fact that Nolan ran away from her six years ago. It's a little bit hard to imagine an 18 year old boy falling in love with 12 year old girl, bur this book gives you the freedom to imagine whatever you want.
It's a strong story about forgiving, and giving yourself another chance to be happy. I gave 4 stars because I don't like the Lena part so much, but that depends on your taste in romance books. Little B. and Nolan are tipical romance characters, but they are not tipical at all.

Six Years is an angst filled story of heartache, redemption, and love. It's about more than the years Nolan and Brooklyn spent apart.
This one broke my heart, put it back together, and broke it all over again.
Brooklyn is a wonderfully strong young woman -- absolutely loved her. And Nolan....*sigh*. Frustratingly sweet and hot. I wanted to slap him and jump him at the same time.
Oh and be warned...this one may cause a few tears (or more).

I love it. It was intense, emotional and heart wrenching. I was drawn from the first chapter till the end. Love is love. The heart cant be fooled. A must read.

i didn't like this one , i couldn't finish it and i think it was some how a waste of time
in the beginning the story was interesting but after 100 page everything became boring ( the characters , the events ....)
