I wish I could say I own all the Discworld Diaries, but *sob* I don't. However, I own most of them and so am able to make a fair comparison between the earlier diaries and this one. And as much as it pains me to say it, knowing what Terry was going through at the time, this diary falls short. The illustrations are just are gorgeous as ever (if repetitive when it comes to the witches' portraits), but the text is missing its easy humor, the kind of humor which rolled off of every sentence as effor

I am in the lucky position to have all the Discworld-diaries, which gives me the chance to compare. To keep this short: This is not the worst, but nowhere near the better diaries.
Artwork: The small circular portraits of the witches that conclude some weeks are nice, but even these few repeat and pretty much all other drawings of plants and animals on the dairy pages are very generic and sadly not DW-related - a major drawback from the early diaries.

Usually I wouldn't do this because how could you actually review a diary? It's blank pages with some information sprinkled throughout. However, as much as it pains me to say this, this was a massive disappointment to me and I actually wanted to say something about it.

The 2016 Discworld Diary is by far my favourite of the Terry Pratchett diaries that I own. The theme for this diary is the witches and unlike the 2015 diary (which was themed around the Igors) this one has a lot more content and is more than just a diary. It is beautifully illustrated and contains lots of mini portraits of some of the witches of Disc. Some of the witches have been illustrated before, like Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg and Tiffany, but some of them were new; there were portraits o

Beautiful as a diary.
However..
Though I deeply love the Witches, I give it three stars because I expected more text and something new, I feel most was just a recycled.
Maybe I expect too much from a diary.
PS: It is so beautiful I just cannot use it, and it is quite heavy to carry around, so it just sits there on the shelf. I payed just to read the few pages there.

Born Terence David John Pratchett, Sir Terry Pratchett sold his first story when he was thirteen, which earned him enough money to buy a second-hand typewriter. His first novel, a humorous fantasy entitled The Carpet People, appeared in 1971 from the publisher Colin Smythe.
