I adore this collection of poetry by Callum McLaughlin. It is the kind of book you can refer to time and time again, and though I have my favourites, each poem is powerful in its own way. They are all inspirational, and I love the fact I can open the collection to any page and be drawn in by the elegance of the words. There is no doubt Callum has a gift. It is evident in the powerful imagery, the musicality and the rhythm. Poems like 'Introspection', where each line speaks to the heart. Then the ...more

After just ending my read on Seeking Solace, all I can say is wow and smile, completely fulfilled. I thoroughly enjoyed this compilation of poetry by Callum. He's so talented! His gift of word through poetry moves across your mind in song with an emotion that gives you pause for reflection of what was just read. I've always enjoyed his poetry via his blog, but this buy was well worth the money. Expertly crafted, he certainly has a poetic future ahead of him.

The Good
The poems in this book were poignant and rich with emotion. They flowed nicely into one another and when I got to the one for with the entire collection is named, it was... Well it was interesting to find the emotions that poem evoked...

The Bad

A lovely, lyrical book, filled with musical language that lifts the heart and opens the eye. My favorites include Light Bringer, Rise, Will You, and Annual. I lean toward the uplifting aspects of these, though there is a lot to be said for the impact of some of the darker lines. A wonderful collection that I'll be reading again and again, I'm sure. And I'm looking forward to more from this poet, who puts his soul out there for all to see.

Readable and Relatable

Really really good poetry that will make you feel all we were made to feel: a complete collection of emotions: pain, love, joy, hate, disgust, anxiety, lost—and through it all hope even amongst the hopelessness, amongst “a world full of shadows” (“Salvation”).

Some of my favorites: “War”; “Society”; and the perfection of simplicity of “Teardrop”.
