You’re The Life

Cleo’s a Pararescueman for the U.S. Air Force. When a PJ is called, it’s because everyone else has said no. It’s one of the most dangerous jobs in the entire military, but also one of the most rewarding. It’s the reason he doesn’t form relationships. He’s seen his teammates divorce one by one, and he doesn’t want to do that to a woman. Especially one that he’s supposed to love. However, nowhere in his grand scheme did he plan for the force that was Rue.

To My

Rue’s life has been rough. What she needs is a break. One that’ll distract her from the fact that she’s drowning in responsibility. It comes in the form of a dark and dangerous biker who has a habit of putting his life on the line. He gives her the world, and she holds on with both hands, knowing that he only wants to be friends. Or does he?

Flight

Thinking she knows what’s best, she pushes him too far, causing his control to take flight, and Cleo to disappear before the dust settles. One night of passion turns into a year of heartbreak as Rue tries to find the ability to move on from Cleo. He was pretty clear with his wishes, and they didn’t include her.
Cleo’s not through with Rue, though. Not even a little bit. She’ll be his. All it’ll take is a little bit of…persuasion.

Another home run for Lani Lynn Vale. Life to my Flight was a wonderful story about Cleo and Rue. Cleo is gun shy about relationships and tears Rue's heart out when he leaves her. But don't fret too much that man realizes he can't live without her comes back for her without taking no for an answer. Rue is a sweet girl and Lani gives her the same real person feel and sense of humor she is known for building into her characters. Cleo is hot and very alpha, but he messed up with Rue and nothing will stop him from getting her back. The chemistry between them is smokin, and the very real dangers Rue faces brings her and Cleo closer together and with the help of the rest of the Dixie Warden crew they are able to weather the storm, but the gang does not make it thru unscathed. I HIGHLY recommend you one click this now. If you have never read Lani's books I think you should start at the beginning with the Freebird Series and follow thru to this spin off series. You WILL NOT be disappointed. I can't wait till April to get Torren's story. The chapter she had at the end of LTMF was sooo funny!!

I liked that Rue and Cleo were friends before anything else. When Cleo left her for a year, she wasn't just losing her friend, she was losing her forever. And when he shows back up in her life, she doesn't think she can let him back in. What if he hurts her again? What if he leaves?

I'm a huge sucker for second chance romances, especially when the hero realizes that he has a lot of work to do. Who doesn't love a great grovel? And Cleo definitely knew how to put in the work necessary to earn Rue's trust back.

I wasn't a huge fan of how Rue handled everything. She could be rude and disrespectful and it wasn't necessary. There were times when I wanted her to really hurt. Like when she would get jealous or possessive over Cleo, while pushing him away and treating him dirty, I wanted him to give her something to actually worry about. Alas, it wasn't in the cards LOL!

Seriously, these two were extremely hot together. I mean attacking each other like wild animals hot. And I loved it!!

I am hooked on this series..

Full Review Here:

With Cleo and Rue's story we get friends to lovers, we get angst, we get an Alpha Male

at his finest, we get laughs, we shed tears, we get mystery and we get second chances!!

I also Love how we still get to see what all the other characters are up too, including

those from The Freebird's series and how they all stick together..

Cleo had his issues with commitment due to his line of work as a Para-rescue Jumper amongst other things. But certain events lead him to realize he couldn't keep using those things as an excuse to finally go after what he wanted. Rue on the other hand got burned...  her decision to be honest about her feelings backfired. After finally somewhat convincing herself  she was over the heartache.. Her future comes flying in and won't take no for an answer!!

These stories aren't just about your usual MC's, these are also SEXY men in uniforms all

with a specialized skill and all with a military background.

The characters banters are hilarious at times and seem real, all the stories focus

on family & friends and

I have been able to relate to a conversation, concern or situation more than once..

Lani Lynn Vale is on my favorite authors list for sure!!

The next can't come soon enough...

Cleo is a Pararescueman for the US Air Force and knows he is not going to make a commitment to a women, it only leads to hurt and divorce. The job is just too much for a woman to handle not knowing if he will ever come home again. While stateside he befriends Rue, she quickly becomes a best friend. One day though she makes a move which ends up with them in bed, but when she wakes up he has walked out of her life.

Now Cleo is back and he wants Rue in his life, by his side, and in his bed. Rue though doesn't want to take another chance on Cleo, he broke her. Cleo though is bound and determined to win Rue's heart again but when Rue becomes under threat, Cleo amps up his plan making sure she is protected.

This one had a few shockers in it. I love this series, one of the best. Each story is unique and you just can't get enough. I understood why Cleo made his decision and thought the way he went about trying to earn Rue's trust again. Rue is a fighter, she has an unbelievably hard job. Fantastic story.

This is an example of why I shouldn't read second chances romances...especially with "alpha" men. The guy leaves the girl after they had sex and is gone a YEAR! Never returned her phone calls. He realizes he made a mistake and wants her back.

I had hoped that he would grovel, maybe make a real effort to make up for abandoning her by romancing her? Nope! He's an alpha. No actual groveling happens. The guy never even calls her to talk to her. Instead he forces his way back into her life.

He stalks her (for like a month), breaks into her house and takes her car without asking while she is sleeping. Then when he comes over while she is babysitting for a friend, he immediately yells at her for not telling him about her having his kid! (Ignoring the fact that he left her and never returned her calls.) Again supposedly he was stalking her for a month and he was in her house, how would she have hid having a baby? What an idiot!

So yeah, the hero was stupid and the heroine was spineless. The only reason I was able to finish this was because at least the hero didn't sleep around.

EDITED
I was hesitant to add this to my review but I'm still angry. I really don't like when authors use sexual assault as an underdeveloped plot device! Her coworker/friend was raped as a warning to the heroine. This was so unnecessary to the story. It wasn't done by the main villain. She could have just been beaten and it would have the same impact. What really pissed me off is that Audrey never shows up again in the story. They just mention she dealing and how upset her brother is feeling. Wow! Let's make it all about him...

FOUR 'I'VE WAITED A LONG, LONG TIME' STARS!

I'm a long time Lani Lynn Vale fan, both of her Boomtown series, and this one as well. I love the way she writes, using humor and snark to cut through the tension between her alpha male characters and strong, feisty heroines. One of my favorite parts of all Lani Lynn Vale's books is how she starts each chapter with either a funny quote, a humorous "life lesson" or a snarky text between the main characters. As someone who has read everything written by this author, I think that those quotes, lessons and text messages are what I anticipate most as I'm turning the pages. Some of the funniest things I've ever written have been contained in those brief passages before the start of each chapter.

"What if when we die, the light at the end of the tunnel is really just another vagina? - Food for thought"

This book is the story of ER nurse, Rue, and Cleo, a newer member of the Dixie Wardens MC, a former USAF pararescueman and a Life Flight pilot. Cleo and Rue meet in a graveyard and strike up a friendship that morphs into so much more. But Cleo can't let himself go there. He lost his mom, and as a pararescueman, he is surrounded by men who had failed relationships. He will only allow himself friendship with Rue. She pushes for more, and finally, one night she wears him down. She wakes the next morning, and Cleo is gone. She doesn't hear from him again for a year.

Cleo went through a major transformation in his time away from Rue. He comes back focused and knowing what he wants - Rue. He knows it's going to be hard, but he isn't prepared for exactly how much he hurt her and how hard it's going to be. Cleo is kicking himself, but he's determined to win the woman he loves back.

"Whether you thought that you were mine or not, I was always yours. And I always will be."

Lani Lynn Vale's blend of steamy yet humorous writing is a pleasure to read. She has a way of telling her story, no matter the difficult topics she writes about, with passionate hilarity that is uncommon in contemporary romance. I am very much looking forward to the next book in this series. Lani Lynn Vale is definitely an auto-buy author for me.

Cleo and Rue.
Not much for me to say it was a cute story. I love second chance romance, but it wasn’t over the top awesome like some of LLV’s books have been and that is ok.

I enjoyed it and the narration. It was a nice addition to the series looking forward to more.

Well I did it again(with this author) I started reading and read every book without stopping. I literally ended a book and started right up. I should have reviewed them each in between so they wouldn't have become one big jumble in my brain. I will say I loved this series all the books were 4 1/5 or 5 stars. Were there small little thing in some books that bugged me, yes but nothing big. I really, really enjoyed this series, and the heroes and heroines. Now I just need to decide if I should start another series from her or take a small brake and read a single book.

* I will say I couldn't stand the heroes sister, all of them were irritating but the littlest "the baby" (rolling my eyes) I couldn't stand. I was soooo glad she didn't get her own book and had she gotten with a guy she "wanted" (yeah no she didn't she just was a spoiler brat), who is a hero in another book I'm sure I wouldn't have read it.

4.5 stars....
I am continuing to pick and choose haphazardly which books I want to read in the various series that intersect in this author's world.
And what a world it is!
These men are in various branches of First Responders....Firemen,Police,Life Flight to name a few.
They all also have a military background in all the various Armed Forces.
They are all members of an MC,the guys are massive, ripped, tatted, beared, and they all carry some heavy duty baggage .
The girls are all these sassy mouthed Southern belles, and will not hesitate to call their men out when needed.
This is Cleo's and Rue's story.
Cleo is an Air Force Pararescueman when he meets Rue at the cemetery with her grandmother while they are each visiting their deceased loved ones.Rue's Nonnie has Alzheimer disease and this day she is particularly confused.
H/h strike up a conversation, and a friendship blossoms. He is wary of relationships as he has seen his friend's marriages fail leading to divorces. The heroine pushes till they finally go to bed and the next morning he is gone from her life .
One year later, who should show up in the Emergency room where she works but the hero.He now has a job locally with Life Flight.
He now realizes that heroine is it for him and he sets about to win her back.
I just love LLV's heros, once they commit to their heroines, they are all hooked, line, and sinker! and possessive to boot.
I had a choked up moment with the "death" of another character, and the memorial scene was a choker for this reader.
I love the epilogues that this author writes as we see the couple into the future with their families .
LLV may not be for everyone I certainly didn't think that I would enjoy her books as much as I do,but I am enjoying this world and the many couples.

Rue and Cleo were the best of friends, but after one night when they crossed the line sharing a night of passion he walks out the door not to be heard from again for a year. Rue's heart is broken and she can't let him back in her life now. Cleo left Rue because he was fearful of what would happen to her if he didn't come home from his parajumping duties. Now he is free of that and is working on a medical helicopter. He wants her in his life and will do whatever it takes to win back her heart. When Rue is in danger because of a case she is testifying for, Cleo and his MC brothers come to her rescue. In the midst of everything that is happening, Rue is letting the walls around her heart to crumble and Cleo is ready to claim her as his.

I so loved Cleo and Rue together. I am a sucker for a friends to lover story and Lani rocked this one. One of the things I love about Lani's writing is that you aren't just getting to know the main characters, but also those who surround them. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

I give Life To My Flight 5 hearts!

3.5

Strong heroines, grumpy alpha heroes, and lots of action and sexy romance makes for fun reading. Life To My Flight brings us a friends to lovers story. Cleo is a member of the Wardens MC and a para jumper. When a relationship gets too personal for him, he bails and leaves Rue with a Dear Joan letter. One year later, he realizes his stupidity and comes back but Rue isn’t as forgiving as Cleo hoped she would be. As Cleo attempts to reignite the passion that scared him away the first time, Rue has her own issues to deal with when a case she will be testifying in has some people willing to do anything to keep her silent. Though I enjoyed this one I never connected with the hero. I didn’t think his reasons for running were good enough, nor was his groveling. He places himself into Rue’s path at every opportunity, almost forcing her to take him back and I wasn’t impressed overall

I received an ARC of this book from Enticing Journey Book Promotions in exchange for an honest review.

This fifth book in this MC series is about Cleo and Rue. This is another MC romance where the focus is not really the MC life and all it's complications. It's more focused on the love story between the main characters. This book is about getting a second chance after you've hurt the one you love.

I kind of feel that Rue was too much the martyr. I mean, a year of not hearing anything from Cleo after the slept together and after he ran away, not even having the decency of saying goodbye? Man, I won't be crying over the man. I will be rolling over in mad anger. And when I see him again, I will be clawing his eyes out. Okay, clearly, I am not the fictional heroine, but I'm just saying, you know.

To be fair, Cleo did work hard at earning Rue's trust again. I just kind of feel like he completely took her for granted then, and he took all her hurts for granted by simply coming back and resuming things from where they left off. I couldn't like him that much.

However, I did like the other characters in the book, especially the ones who've already had their own books in the previous installments. I especially like Loki and Sebastian, although the former had more exposure in this book. I am looking forward to Torren and Tru's story. I can only imagine the evil that Molly will unleash, but well, that's just how drama is in fiction.

This is a good book that entertains from first page to last. It's good if you've read the previous books because you get insights to the secondary characters and get to know them better, where they come from. However, this book can also be read as a standalone, and it will still be as satisfying.

Life to my Flight is book 5 in the Dixie Wardens MC series & it was a good read. I thought that Cleo was a well developed character, full of light & dark, dedicated but unsure of himself with relationships, even his sisters, who manipulated him mercilessly. Rue was harder to relate to & I actually wondered why he cared so much for her. But chemistry & love work in ways inexplicable to all but the couple involved so I will say they seemed to work together. This story takes place when other books overlap with the story & there is plenty of extra storyline @ the end of the main event. The reader learns "what's next" & that is great - it's satisfying not to have to wonder what follows on. This is a very well
constructed series & well worth reading.

second chance romance. He is a life flight operator, she is a nurse. Mostly just drama between Cleo and Rue about him leaving before. At the end there is a great plotline involving a strange rape case Cleo had to testify in. I wish that plotline had been the dominate one. These books are enjoyable, but ultimately, they are all the same: a string of random events, sassy comments, jealousy, and motorcycle club members all jumping in to help 'protect someones' woman'.
Every time I finish I ask myself "Why do I keep reading these if they are all the same?" I'll let you know if I ever figure it out, but until then, I will probably keep reading/listening.
Mason Lloyd and Lidia Dornet are GREAT narrators!

They met in the cemetery, a case of mistaken identity.

Rue
1 year later

Cleo became her best friend. Her confidant. The person she relied on…he didn’t do relationships.

Something held him back. That one single piece of him that kept him from taking that final step. It wasn’t the risk of his career, it was sheer arrogance and misguided stupidity.
He said it was his job.
It had nothing to do with the fact that he was a PJ (pararescue jumper), but everything to do with the fact that he lost his father at a young age, and then his mother at a time when he needed her most, leaving him jaded.

Mikhail "Cleo" Caruso, is a Pararescueman for the US Air Force and no stranger to danger. Whilst stateside he befriends Rue and they become fast friends. Cleo doesn't do romantic relationships but one night Rue makes advances and after crossing their proverbial line in the sand, she knew as soon as they’d slept together, that he’d leave.
He did…in the middle of the night. Upon awakening, he’s ghosted her and remained incommunicado for a year.

Rue Londen, is an ER nurse specialising in sexual assault. Part of SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner), her job is to collect evidence, the statement, and document the injuries that he or she observes. SANE exam protocols were set in place for the safety and comfort of the patient. They didn’t want to make victims any more nervous than they already were and the rule was that there was only one person collecting the evidence and doing the invasive procedures, which made it more tolerable for the patient.

Rue’s also the primary care giver to her grandmother whose health is quickly declining from Alzheimer’s until she’s forced to place her in a facility. She’s financially struggling to afford her grandmother’s care and her personal expenses.

Distraught for the last year from losing Cleo, suddenly he’s in her emergency room wanting a second chance, having miraculously overcome his aversion.

Rue
1 year later

He shows up in her emergency room.
“He wasn’t here to find me. He was here because he was bringing a patient in; not here to see me. That worked better than a bucket of cold water over my head”.

He’s suddenly had a change of heart, determined to win her over.
Would it have killed her to resist him for a while? She easily succumbs to his reappearance and easily forgives him. It was inconceivable that they never discussed their night together.
“I’m just...I need you...I’m confused,” he finally decided.
“What are you confused about?”
“A lot of things. Mainly I’m just not used to being wrong. I f….. up by leaving, and then not calling. I fully admit that, but I thought I was doing the right thing. I didn’t want you to be a statistic. Now here you are giving me the time of day when I don’t deserve it, and I just don’t know why I deserve that.”
“You don’t deserve it, Cleo. You really hurt me. Gutted me. However, that being said, I’ve missed you. You were...still are, one of my best friends. I want that back”.

He learns some ugly truths about his beloved sisters. All three of his three sisters disliked her. Molly, the youngest brat, however, detests her. She’d say that Rue wasn’t good enough for him. He’d say that Molly didn’t know her like he did. Blinded to their hostility.

He thought his other two sisters were neutral in their opinions, they’d simply not verbalised their distaste and allowed Molly the ‘baby of the family’ to take point.

She was the youngest at twenty and the most possessive of him. She didn’t feel anyone was worthy of Cleo, and had told Rue so. Busily gossiping they failed to detect his approach at a prearranged lunch:
“No, she called and as soon as she heard my voice she hung back up,” Molly tittered.
I froze, stopping two tables down and listening.
“That’s funny. A year ago she did that to me, too. She’d called looking for Mikhail, and I’d told her he was gone,” Meredith said around her straw.
I’d gotten two calls from Rue after I’d left her. If I’d gotten anymore, I’d probably have caved and gone back to her (sheer generousity).
At the time, I thought it was weird that she hadn’t tried just a little bit harder to get me to come back (seriously).
I hadn’t felt like she tried hard enough to get me to come back (egotistical much).
Call me selfish, but I wanted someone to fight for me.
“She called me a few times too,” Mikayla said. “He’d actually been gone those times, though.”
“What the f… gives y’all the right to think I don’t deserve to hear my own goddamned phone messages? If anyone called for you, I’d have at least told you.”

They all jumped at the tone of my voice, none of them looking in the least bit guilty.
“Sorry,” they said.
They didn’t sound sorry.

“What do y’all have against Rue?” I asked as I took the empty seat at their table.
“Nothing,” they said quickly.
“Nothing? Then why does she think y’all hate her?” I asked suspiciously.
“Probably ‘cause we do,” Molly muttered.
I turned to her sharply. “Why do you?”
“We just don’t think she’s good enough for you,” Meredith answered reluctantly.

“You know,” I said. “I didn’t tell any of you who to date. When you married,” I looked at Mikayla. “I didn’t say a word about your choice of husband, even though I wanted to. Who was I to say anything if he was what you wanted?” Mikayla had the decency to look sheepish.

“And you,” I said turning towards Meredith. “I didn’t say a word to you when you started dating that low-life. And when he left you pregnant and alone, who took care of you instead of saying ‘I told you so?’ I think it’s time y’all let me make my own decisions.”

“They didn’t have anything to say about that.

“She’s a part of my life. She’s going to be mine, whether you, or her, like it or not. Time to stop acting so selfish and be happy for me,” I snapped.
They didn’t have anything to say about that, either.

“She’s going to be the mother of your nieces and nephews. She’s also going to be my wife and old lady. Try not to be so bitchy about everything and think about somebody other than yourselves,” I said as I stood.

“Hey, what about lunch?” Molly whined. I looked at them, each of them getting a look before I focused in on Molly. “It’s time to pay for your own lunch from now on.”

Mikayla was the oldest of the Caruso clan. Mikhail the second. Followed by Meredith, and then Molly. They were a very tight group, and it’d take a small miracle to become one of their group. Even the sister’s own husbands were barely tolerated. Cleo probably didn’t even realise that his sisters were so protective of him, either.

“Your sisters hate my guts. Molly more than most.”.

His confrontation with his sisters—was pathetic, they practically escaped unscathed.

Rue begins receiving death threats on a rape assault case…and a secondary character Avery’s brother, Tunnel loses his life as collateral damage.

LLV writes her heroines in unflattering, disparaging terms. She favours the “I got full hips, full thighs, small boobs, and flabby arms. I did have a toned a**, though” stereotypical women, often bordering on the absurd.

The heroes are large and massive.

This author also has a tendency of grammatical errors, inconsistent character descriptions, event details, and incomplete, dropped plot threads that are never quite satisfied or resolved.

I give this a 3.75

I received an arc for an honest review. So, I went and read the entire series in one sitting. I wasn't familiar with the author but apparently this is a spin off of another one of her MC series that I will be checking out.

I really enjoyed this. Don't go into this thinking it is your typical MC series, because it isn't. The stories focus on the everyday lives of the heroes as firefighters, EMT's and Police Officers. All have a military background and yes - they are in the MC but that is more so in the background of the story.

In this one we get introduced into the lives of Cleo and Rue. Cleo is a Pararescueman for the U.S. Air Force and Rue is an ER Nurse and she tries to stay away from him after what happened between them a year ago. Their chemistry is undeniable. There is humor - which of course we all loved. There is sex - love! There is often drama (not related to a club).

You are going to root for these two!

The characters in this book (as well as the rest of the series) draw you in. You instantly fall in love with them. They each make appearances in everyone's stories =) If you read and loved the Rock Chick Series by Kristen Ashley you will LOVE this series because to me, it has the same kind of feel. The alphas take care of their ladies.

Grab the series and fall in love with the Heroes of Dixie Wardens MC!

Love this series

Another great read from this great author. This is a very good so fond chance story. Would have liked it to have been fleshed out more with their past relationship but the story worked okay. The suspense was very good and liked that she wasn't pregnant when her life was threatened. The villain was a surprise to me. Looking forward to the next one.

Keep going with these moving plots. Auto buy for me.
