Simple projects that are suitable for a beginner but just because you are upcycling pallets doesn't mean it should look like it... Lots of poor craft and poor photography here. There are good ideas in here but refer to another reference for construction.

Had a pallet. Decided not to use it for anything.

A user-friendly book for the do-it-yourselfer. Becky shares that her mom stretched resources and created a warm, inviting childhood home for her and her family, involving and encouraging Becky in crafting and creating. In this book, Becky takes us through selecting and using tools and materials, sharing the benefit of her experience. She details which factors to weigh when deciding corded versus cordless, quality versus disposable, power versus hand tool. The photos make it easy to see the critical angle and closeup to safely disassemble a pallet and securely assemble the project. The projects include decorative items, games, furniture, and storage. The focus of the book is converting pallets to usable household items; I plan to use several of the design plans on the scrap wood left in the free, help-yourself pile created by the contractors building a house beside mine.

The author goes into great depth about working with wood pallets, everything from how to tell what type of wood each one is made of, to how to disassemble them in the easiest way. Many of the projects are a bit too, "rough hewn" look for me, but I still found a few that I am excited to try out. Her directions are clear enough that I feel I can comfortably modify a project to be more of what I want. I would recommend this to anyone who is working with pallets for the first time.

Do not sign up for the free book!

This book was okay at best. I didn’t learn anything from it. The main problem is that the publisher offered a free book. Do not fall for it. I clicked on the link. They offered one of 4 books that are nothing like this one. I carefully made sure that the permission to email me checkbox was unchecked. They have emailed me multiple times a day since then. I have requested to be removed several times and still they spam me.

The book was not good. Some decent ideas were ok but some were ridiculous such as the boards made into a tic tac toe board. Really, you needed to show that? Directions weren't great. The pictures showed HOW to measure, with a measuring tape. If you don't know how to measure, you really shouldn't be building anything yet. I'd recommend a YouTube video instead. It's a really thin book so there's not much to it.

Not a very creative book. The projects do not go far from the original shapes of the palettes. Good/accessible for beginners, I suppose.

I am always amazed how creative some people are especially when it comes to refurbishing something. So when I was a First Read Winner of this book I was very excited and I hope to make many of the project that are listed. This book is not only filled with wonderful colorful pictures, lots of great ideas to make and it includes a list of all the equipment you will need for each creation with step by step easy to understand instructions. The perfect present for anybody who loves to be creative and the DIY person in your life. I can't wait to get started on some of the projects and I know I will cherish this book for many years to come. Nicely done Becky Lamb.

This is a book of hope for those of us that are DIY challenged! The directions are clear. There are pictures of each step and a list of supplies and tools is provided for each project. There is much, much more in this lovely little book which I received through Goodreads.
