Okay, I have to admit that I'm not a huge fantasy fan. Most of the time the totally displaced worlds and endless descriptions drive me crazy as a reader. But...that was just absolutely not the case with this book.

The beginning hooked me so totally and unequivocally that I just had to keep reading. I mean, come on, big tough (made me think of Conan the Barbarian) hottie, Tardon in a sword fight with a female warrior that was his match---or so she thought--was just a total turn on. I enjoyed the

I don't get it.

Why exactly aren't they allowed to get married?
Why is sex only given to male warriors?
What happens with the children after they're born?
What about everyone else? How do they live? Are they all farmers? All warriors? Are they slaves? Sex slaves?
Why exactly are books about flowers and trees forbidden?
How did a world like this happened?
How did people forget so quickly what they had before? Did they kill everyone that stood up because if they did well there wouldn't be a lot of peopl

This is a great story. I LOVE TARDON! Well, all the characters, actually. They are deep and intriguing. The world Ciara Knight has created is extraordinary and very well developed. The twists and turns kept me intrigued the entire book. The love story between these two is so sweet and hot all rolled up into amazing. Nicely done, Ciara Knight!

“A society that will trade a little liberty for a little order will lose both, and deserve neither.”

Those words were spoken two centuries ago by American founding father, Thomas Jefferson. (Or Benjamin Franklin. Depends on who you ask.) It popped into my head several times as I read The Curse of Gremdon. The first time was when Tardon, a celebrated warrior, was condemned to burn at the stake for a small carnal act. The Elders allow him moments of release, but this wasn’t a designated time and Ar

Curse of Gremdon is a good ole fashioned sword and sorcery novel (with the emphasis on "sword" and very little if no "visible" magic at all). It's what us nerds might call a "magic poor" world. But the description fits and the world-building is amazing. The book is mostly told through the experiences of Arianna. She's an amazing warrior with the spirit of Grace Jones' character in Conan the Destroyer but with a component of beautiful femininity that the afore-mentioned character never had. And T ...more

Ciara Knight paints a vivid fascinating world in Gremdon. The compelling story pulls the reader in and the action and romance will keep you. Although I'm not a fantasy reader, Gremdon tempts me to read more now. I loved the characters, the interaction and the way Ciara brought them to life. I can't wait for the sequel! ...more

If you’re a fan of fantasy romance with unique world-building, a warrior hero and a heroine who is every bit his equal — look no further. Ciara Knight has created a culture that is not like any other I have read before. The people live behind castle walls, protected by prized warriors and magical amulets to fight the effects of the cursed monsters that threaten to destroy humanity. One scratch or bite and anyone can turn into that which they most fear. So the warriors must be rigid and single mi ...more

I received a copy for review through the group Knights of the Round Table on Goodreads. I thank the author and the group for the same.
This is a fantasy set in the kingdom of Gremdon, basically a sword and sorcery style of story telling. The magic is not visible in daily life and yet is very much there in the background, playing a crucial part.
I liked the author's focus on the two main characters, elite warriors Arianna and Tardon allowing the readers to explore their int

Today's review is on The Curse of Gremdon by Ciara Knight

This is the first book that I have read by Knight, and I must say that I am hooked. I was pulled into the magical world she has created from the very first chapter. At first I thought that this would be one of those stories that would bring me to tears, but the glistening in my eyes was for a very happy ending.

True love is never easy to find, and once you find it you never want to let it go. What if however it is forbidden for you? What if

I knew I was going to enjoy this book I just did not realize how much. I absolutely LOVED IT !!!!

Ciara has created a fresh and unique story that will leave you well on the edge of your seat. This story is full of sensual passion and adventure. A love story like no other.

A compelling story of magic, love, lust, and deception, Gremdon grips you from page one.

In a world where marriage is forbidden, a curse plagues the land, and 'Elders' rule the inner walls of a kingdom wary of the outside world. But what happens when your brother falls ill to 'Death Fever' and his only hope for survival rests in the outer walls of the castle? Or when you fall in love against the strict rules of the 'Elders'? This book is AMAZING! I was enthralled with this book from the first paragraph. The scene is so visual you feel like an actual witness to this intense battle between the main characters of the story. The writing pulls you in from this first scene and takes you on a perilous journey of passion, betrayal and ultimately a life changing awakening.
The author of this book has created engaging characters that you will fall in love with. The main female character, Arianna, is a selfless and dedicated w

Amazing! Amazing. A-maz-ing. Holy cow this book was good!!! Alrighty, you probably want more of an explanation than that, huh?

So let me expound...
First, we find ourselves in an almost historical setting of castles and warriors. Two warriors clash... a contest, thankfully, not a battle. One is Arianna. Yes, a woman, who's intense determination and focus has enabled her to rise in the ranks of warriors as the only woman Elite Warrior. She fights against Tardon, who is, simply put, the best. What w

I was familiar with Ciara's writing with her Love's Long Shadow released last year and found her style enjoyable. When Curse of Gremdon came out I knew I needed to read. And I was not disappointed.

She throws you into the heat of fighting between a male and female warrior, Tardon and Arianna. Arianna is strong and full of fight while you think at first Tardon is a bit arrogant. But that's not the case,as you soon will learn when you read.

Magic. Lust. Love. Sacrifice. Intensely gripping from the opening scene, this riveting tale of destiny and desire will have the reader hungering for more, page after page, all the way through the ending. In another world, a vastly oppressed culture is controlled by the corruption and evils of a Elders willing to do anything to maintain power. Two Elite Warriors must sacrifice all they have known and go against all they have been taught to vie for a chance at love; a love so condemned that it is

First of all I must bring to light that beautiful cover art by Jeannie Rusch for the book "Curse of Gremdon" by Ciara Knight. This book was nothing of what I had expected by reading the back cover. From page one Ciara had me pulled into the dank world trapped within the castle walls as if shadowing Arianna myself. Her choice of imagery was spot on keeping the story flowing smoothly without losing site of her readers. if you are looking for that great book to escape within, let this one be your n

Ciara has created a action packed word of warrior and magic. The story takes place in world where the people have been trapped behind the castle walls by the beasts and cursed ones who wait outside the walls. Since the walls have been closed, marriage and children have been forbidden by the elders. In this world we find Arianna and Tardon.

This is a FANTASTIC read!! There are so many great things about this book the scenes, the plot, the characters, and everything in between. Ciara Knight writes so well that you are so engrossed in the story that it is as if you are there in the moment watching every move the characters make!! You become invested in the main characters and really route for them. Then there is quite a surprising twist... actually a couple of twist that make the page turning even faster(if that were possible)! There ...more

Ciara Knight has penned an amazing novel. A fantasy world, characters so true to that world, romance and action compel the reader into a journey well worth taking. Dull moments? Not in this novel.
Arianna and Tardon's quest for truth, freedom and love bring them closer to a world they'd long forgotten. I will not include spoilers in this review, but Ciara has a fabulous style of weaving story lines to create those a-ha moments every reader loves to read.

I had heard such great reviews about this book prior to reading it, I was afraid it wouldn't live up to my expectations. Boy was I wrong! Great characters. I wanted to learn more about the setting earlier on, but was pleased to know all my questions were answered in good time. I'm not going to give anything away, but great plot twist. THE CURSE OF GREMDON is a very unique mix of Fantasy and Romance that really captivated me. Usually Fantasy novels will focus less on the romance and more on the wars and conflicts going on in their respective worlds, but TCoG has equal portions of both, and that's what I loved about it. I'm a romance junky, but I'd occasionally also like to pick up a Fantasy novel. There aren't too many of them that have a good romance to back the story up,

Arianna is the only female warrior but she's one of the best, if not the best. Tardon is an Elite Warrior who is in love with Arianna and he is unaware that she also has feeling for him. However, their love is forbidden. They are not allowed to have any kind of relationship. The Elders, who rule over the people, believe that for a female warrior to engage in sexual activity, it would diminish their fighting abilities so such an act is punishable by death.

The Curse of Gremdon was a well crafted fantasy rich with adventure and excitement. I loved the idea of Arianna being the only girl in a boys club. She is the only female warrior left in her rank and it has worked extremely hard to prove her worth. Arianna has been through a great deal during her life and she has faced every obstacle head on. When the book begins she is partaking in a fight with Tardon in hopes of becoming an elite warrior.

I'm trying to be more positive in my reviews. Sometimes I don't like a book and that doesn't necessarily mean its poorly written or junk fiction. The Curse of Gremdon has some good themes. It is a novel about people being controlled in every aspect of their lives. They eventually discover that the most important thing is marriage and family. Excellent theme. I like characters who don't take any crap from anyone and this book had that. I also liked the unique take it took on the bad guys and how ...more

Overall, the book was a decent read.

I was somewhat put off by the way it started off. Call me old fashioned, but that much sex at the front of a book was a little much. Yes, I knew the book was "spicy", but to me, the book pushed the boundaries of this classification and was unnecessary to the storyline to the extent to which it appeared. Yes, sex did have it's place in this book, I'm not denying that. There was just a little too much, which in and of it's self got confusing.
