Eagle Harbor--Where Love Finds Its Anchor

Lake Superior, 1880
Tressa Danell is finished with men—from the wastrel who left her a widow, to the smelly trapper who keeps proposing, to the banker who wants to repossess her bakery. Every hour is spent working to pay off her late husband’s debt and keep a roof over her son’s head, though it’s doubtful she can do both for very l

Reading them in order is generally better as you don't get spoilers. Book 1 keeps you guessing to the end, so by reading Book 4 first, there might be some spoilers for Book 1, 2 or 3, depending on your memory. However, this author has done a very good job of completing Book 1 so I image each story will be a worthwhile standalone.(less)

Mercy, but the townspeople got my dander up from the get go. I have never come across so many narrow-minded, sanctimonious, grudge-holding, unforgiving, judgemental people in one book! I was fuming on Tressa's behalf the whole way through the read. There's something very energizing about being righteously indignant for a sustained period of time. LOL

Tressa's future looks beyond bleak. Overwhelming odds keep pummeling her down. Just when you think it can't get worse it does! Mac is a bright beac

In this first book in Naomi Rawlings's Eagle Harbor Series, the reader is set down in beautiful but dangerous Eagle Harbor, Michigan, where strength and desperation clash like the storms that rage on the lake. I was immediately drawn into the lives of Tressa and her son, who are so admirably trying to make their way; and charmed by the hero who only wants to help, though he still has demons of his own to fight.

A romance to make your heart pound, but laced with God's truth and the power of family

I really enjoyed Mac and Tressa’s story—I love good love stories where it looks like the couple just can’t get together, especially when the hero is besotted. Makes me cheer for them all the more. And the setting on Lake Superior was really well done, I felt like I was there, especially out during the rescue scene, in the lighthouse and the beach, just well done. And there’s all kinds of characters to love and hate—Looking forward to reading the next one!

I have just added a new favorite author to my growing list. This easy-to-read historical romance was filled with the trials, tribulations, and sweetness of the time period in which it was placed. It's the 1880's and women have no rights and widowed women even less.

Married to a scalawag miner due to the death of her father, Tressa is then left a widow when her husband dies after 10 years of marriage leaving her with a 10 year old son. Not only is she left with just her son and the bakery she own

For me, it was difficult at first to get into. A lot of different people & information was written right out of the gate. Very hard for me to figure out what was going on at first! But I was determined to read the book as it really did sound like a good one. So glad I persevered! I figured once I got into the story that everything would fall into place & it did.
The first time meeting Tressa, I felt sorry for her as she was being proposed to by a old trapper, and a very persistent one at

A LIFE FULL OF STRAWBERRY PIES AND SUNSHINE
Tressa Danell has had a hard and bitter life. Losing her mother early in life, her father when she was 15 and forced into accepting a marriage immediately to Otis Danell, rather than being forced to work in a brothel. Otis is nothing but a low-life scoundrel, cheating husband, swindling people out of money and when dying in a logging accident leaving debts owed everywhere. Mac Oakton has lived with people resenting him for the money his father swindled

Tressa and Mac's story is very well written. Both of them are fighting to seek restitution for something they didn't do, yet feel responsible for and are blamed for by the town. a beautifully written setting along Lake Superior with a lighthouse and danger among the lake the author writes the scenes as if you were there. Mac has his future all laid out just the way he wants it to be. Tressa is fighting day by day to protect her son and keep a roof over their heads. Mac is compelled to help her, ...more

This is a great Christian love story with a bit of everything. I love how the author, Naomi Rawlings, not only gave us a clear picture of Eagle Harbour community, the lighthouse, and the surrounding waters, but a very comprehensive picture of most of the occupants of the town. The widow Tressa and her young son, Colin, are likable and their story will touch your heart. Mac Oakton, who returns to the town later in the story, is the kind of man you can imagine putting his coat down to prevent a la ...more

Tressa's story is one of strength and fortitude in the face of heartache and loss. Naomi writes with a deep well of feeling and passion and you feel that in the characters of this story. I enjoyed the playful tender moments as well as the deeper more thought provoking ones.

For me, the deeper theme of Tressa's story was her struggle not only with her own self-worth as her neighbors saw her but her need to understand who she was to God. This story brings a powerful reminder to us all that we were

Great Christian Romance

Mac and Tressa have a lot in common. They're both tainted by the actions of others. They're both working hard to redeem themselves. The difference is Mac had the capacity to love himself and others, where Tressa thinks she's not worthy of love. Not even God's love.

I enjoyed this Christian romance. I liked the characters. I respected Tressa for her determination. Macau me think of a big teddy bear. He has the biggest heart.

So many bad things happen to Tressa that I kept th

What a wonderful story of heartfelt love, forgiveness, Christian insights and pure enjoyment for the reader. I could relate to Tresses money problems, her young son's issues with bullying and I really loved Mac, tender, fun-loving and hard working. Wonderful reading for everybody!

I so enjoyed reading my first novel by Naomi. I do not always have the patience to start a series with a lot of new characters, but I enjoyed meeting all of them and her setting the stage of Eagle Harbor. The love story was very sweet and the book had a very steady pace. I can't wait to read Elijah's story in the second book!... On another note, I really wish the cover model didn't have such heavy make-up. Haha.

This is an interesting read. It certainly is a time period where women were still being taken for granted and shouldering a lot of thankless responsibility. There are multiple and well written interesting characters that I'm sure make appearances in the others books in the series. I actually picked the book because of the lighthouse on the cover and the fact that the main male character, Mac Oakton, is a lighthouse keeper. I wouldn't have minded it if there was more about the lighthouse etc. but ...more

Book Review: MY RATING: FOUR STARS * * * * -- I really liked this book!
This historical romance is set in the Lake Superior region in 1880. The heroine, Tressa Dannell, is recently widowed with a ten-year-old son, Colin. She runs her own bakery, but is drowning in debt thanks to her ne'er-do-well, deceased husband, Otis.
From the beginning of the story challenges, trials and tribulations are piled upon Tressa. I honestly wondered if and when the woman was going to get a break!
Her son, Colin, is an

Love’s Unfading Light is book one in the Eagle Harbor series. I actually read book two first. After reading book two, I really wanted to know Tressa and Mac’s back story. And what a back story it is!

I am really enjoying this series and the deep characters in these books. Tressa is such a complicated woman. She is strong, stubborn, and has an unending devotion to her son. Although she is a widowed mother, she is still very young and is scared of ever being under a man’s control again. And she doe

I really enjoyed this book. The characters were real with real issues. Both main characters had to learn to forgive themselves before they could fully accept the friendship and forgiveness of others. This is a Christian romance but not too preachy- if anything I would have liked to see Tressa come to a fuller understanding of God's love for her, though I think it's understood that she does thru Mac's example. In general, this is a very good book. I just wanted it to go a little deeper and last a ...more

I really enjoyed this story of Mac and Tressa. I loved the setting of Lake Superior. I enjoyed how the author compared God's love with the light of the lighthouse. I enjoyed Naomi Rawlings' writing style, of how she detailed what the characters were feeling inside. It is definitely a book I will recommend to others. I can't wait for Book 2 in this Eagle Harbor series to come out.

Love's Unfading Light is the first of many well written stories in the Eagle Harbor series. Tressa and Mac are two strong main characters that have a lot to prove. Each of them had a family member with a shameful past, which unfortunately passed on to them as survivors. Isn't funny how people just immediately judge you based on something a family member has done? It was relevant in this time period and it is certainly relevant today. The hard part, when on the receiving end of that judgment, is ...more

“Love’s Unfading Light” is Book 1 in the Eagle Harbor Series. It is set in the 1880’s in the little community of Eagle Harbor, Michigan which is a real unincorporated community that exists in Michigan today. In 2010 it had a population of 76 people, so the book describes it very well and it actually has a working lighthouse that is still in use today, just as the book described.

Review: A short and sweet read that I finished in a couple of hours.

The story follows Tressa, a widow struggling to pay the mortgage on her bakery and support herself and her 10 year old son. Mac, the local lighthouse keeper, starts to take an interest in the widow and her young boy. The story that follows is cute and sweet, with a mild to moderate Christian undertone.

I found the chemistry between the two characters to be a bit off and on again. While there were a few scenes wer
