Gorgeous illustrations accompany the words of the beloved Gene Autry song. The most beautiful thing about this book though is the Boxer/American Bulldog looking puppy! So stinking cute! Lil and I had fun reading this one aloud together.

This is a nice, classic Christmas picture book. Adding the music sheet for the song on the front and back inside covers is a nice touch. The illustrations of the puppy are adorable and bring out a chuckle. However, as other have noted, getting a pet is a serious decision that seems to be taken a little lightly here. It can be a good starting point for talking to kids about these kids of issues, however, so I wouldn't blackball it simply for that reason.
