It was supposed to be easy.
Hire a professional actor to play my fake fiancé.
But when he steps in front of my door to pick me up for The Interview, my heart stops. Chase Wright is perfect. And hot. I mean like, burn up your dress hot. However, Chase isn't professional at all. I hate what he does to me with his sinfully sexy blue eyes. I hate that he wants me in his bed.

☆ I received an ARC via JC Reed in exchange for an honest review. Thank you! ☆

3.5 stars!!

First off, there was a prequel before this? Wah, is there supposed to be some kind of interconnection between the two?

That said... I did enjoy this novel, it was not as dark as I thought it was going to be.

Some of it was a bit perplexing and dumbfounding as I was gyrated into yet another virgin story-line with a broken past.

Said virgin ends up needing a fake fiancee and from there it's a bunch of secrets, th

I guess I only gave this 3 stars because it has a cliffhanger ending, and I don't like being trapped in a series in that way, especially since I have so many books to read.

However, having said that, the sexual tension building up as the reader progresses is a delicious tease that drives one on - maybe that's why the cliffhanger ending is a bit of a blow. The plot is good, sort of a reverse "PRETTY WOMAN", as our heroine Laurie gets an actor to play her fiancée to meet the conditions of an inheri

Uh, what?

The first chapter just threw me off, and the storyline just doesn't flow for me at all. What did the elevator guy have to do with Lauren later? The story jumped around too much and gave no real prep to the reader or basis for the angst of the heroine. I feel like I just wasted $2.99, not sure what the check it's building up to! I won't be buying the next story, and I buy A LOT of books. Disappointed. J C Reed usually never disappoints but man missed the mark here.

the plot is incomplete - more explanation is needed to understand what is going on with the characters. I struggled to finish it. My head was further on than the plot trying to put the storyline together.

so lets see if I get the gist of the direction this is going in book 2.

Laurie just wanted one thing, one reminder from her past and in order to get it she needs her fake fiancee to suddenly appear. Deciding to hire someone to pretend the role has Laurie hedging on her decisions, especially once she meets Chase Wright. From the very beginning Chase has made his intention known, he wants Laurie intimately. Chase oozes raw sexual man, Laurie always promised herself never to get involved with a man, but Chase is tempting her and breaking down every wall she has shielde ...more

Short review here (full review after I finish the series).

This was good but not great. At times I found the story intriguing and suspenseful with some sexiness, chemistry and romance intertwined. But there were moments it seemed immature behavior and thinking was displayed by the heroine. I liked her okay and but just wish she was more consistent in her actions and behavior (thank goodness there weren't many). The hero Chase was, sexy, alpha, mysterious but sweet at time

What’s it all about?

Laurie and Chase. Working out their arrangement and dealing with each others (Mostly Laurie’s) stuff.

What I thought?

I didn’t know this was the first in a series…. I need more now! The previously released prequel was included in this book as a prologue and whilst I can’t see how on earth the two stories link, I, like others have my theories (Yeah I think eleva

The reason I picked this up was because of the blurb. Big mistake on my end. This book makes no sense. The plot and overall story is confusing. The only redeeming part is Chase, an amazing hero. He's the reason I'm giving it 2 stars. Chase is so put of place in what I guess it supposed to be a more darker type of romance. Laurie's portrayal here is the big problem. She's trying to find a job, and can't, even though she comes from money. It appears her step-father is a nasty man, who may or may h ...more

Ok let me just say I love JC Reed, like really-really love her. With that said you can believe if she has a book releasing I am going to read it. This is the first time I read a book that she has co-authored and I was not sure how that was going to go to be honest but I can honestly tell you that both authors did an amazing job. They certainly put an interesting spin on the way they opened this book. Not with a prologue but with a prequel novella “THAT GUY” and wow wha

Sexy, intriguing, mysterious, this book had a little bit of everything. Laurie thought that by hiring Chase as her fake finance’ that her mother’s wishes had been fulfilled and she would finally receive what was dutifully hers. Apparently, her stepfather and his lawyer had other plans. Chase appeared to have fallen for Laurie and became intrigued by her situation, but he is not all that he appears to be. I will admit that I was getting a little frustrated with the heroine throughout part of the ...more

3.5 stars. I know this is a starter book but it needed to be deeper even with the cliffhanger. Laurie and Chase relationship is a hoax to get something for herself but when things take an unexpected turn Chase steps up to take over and help her but we find out it is more to all of it.

I would like to know the rest and Chase motives and what Clint is really up to.

We met Laurie Hanson in That Guy as she endured a frightening, disastrous situation with a mysterious stranger. We were teased with secrets and guilt from her past, but nothing definitive. Fast forward, a few months later and due to circumstances beyond her control, Laurie is in need of a fake fiance' fast. Where does one find a man to fake it with? Well, her best friend, Jude has a brilliant plan and makes it happen. Simple really...hire one. But she finds a candidate that sends Laurie reeling. ...more

I did like this book.

but I had some issues with it.
we're given this suspenseful beginning, that left you wondering a million things and waiting to find out what came of it. and then whomp whomp whomp! we get nothing else on it. I'm figuring it will get brought up again in the next instalment, but I would have like at least a mention of it or something, instead of just dropping it all together and leaving me with a billion questions.
also some times there would be things between Chase and Laurie w

Meet Chase Wright: he’s perfect. He’s handsome. He’s hot. He’s an actor. He’s Laurie’s fake fiancé. It was supposed to be a simple job: introduce him to her stepfather, get what she wants and have a clean break. But the longer Chase stays in her life, the more entangled he becomes, and the more danger he poses into her heart.

He knows he affects her, and he does not apologize about it. I love how he teases her, how he tries to get her off her comfort zone. He knows what he wants, and he’s willing

Ahh...this left me with more questions than answers, but then I guess that's the beauty and the annoyance of reading a series. I wish I had looked into this more when I started it, had I realised it was part of a series (an incompleted series) I wouldn't have read it and would have waited for the whole series to be released! Saying that I'm still not sure what I think of this. I just want to say that this book gets better the further on you go. The last 20% was great and I think the next book is ...more

With every book J.C writes I enjoy it more and more.

I could not put this book down. I was stuck, glued to my kindle. Make sure you give yourself time to read this!

We meet Laurie Hanson as she is about to interview for an internship. Things happen and she never makes it to the actual interview.

We see how hard, and strenuous life is for Laurie. There are things in her life, her past, she doesn't share with any one, not even Jude, her best friend and roommate.

Jude is the rock and free spirit Laurie

Lauren (Laurie) Hanson ran away from money and stability to have her own independence and to be able to live her own life on her terms. But now she is in need of a fake fiancée so she can get what she has really only ever wanted.
Chase Wright is a hot gorgeous mysterious actor that Laurie hires to help her fake out her step-father so she can get what her mother left her. She wants this to be a business deal and he wants this to be more than just a deal.

I found this story so confusing. First you start off with a prequel with Laurie in the elevator meeting a handsome guy who she proceeds to get stuck in the elevator with.
There is real chemistry between them, but she never gets his name. She did reveal a few of her deep dark secrets to him, thinking this was the end of her life.
All of sudden rescue comes and she is saved - but the guy ? We don't know what happened.
Now to this story and it starts off 3 months later.
No explanation, she just needs a

My Thoughts:

The blurb on this one intrigued me enough to decide to read it. It's an interesting premise--and I was curious about what would make the rules change, from engagement to marriage. So, curiosity gets the better of me and I'm diving into this book!

Laurie is in a bind and she needs a fake fiancé to take care of some business. It seemed simple enough. Then she finds Chase, and he is more than happy to do this for her. Their

I love JC Reed so I will automatically read anything that she writes.

I was thrown by the elevator scene? How is this man going to fit into everything? Who is he?

Throughout the story we get just enough pieces to show us that there is more to Laurie and her past. Laurie is so sweet and still a virgin and she just wants to live her life independently and to break away from the life provided for her by her mother. The only thing she wants of her mothers are the letters that her mother left to her in

I was given a copy of An Indecent Proposal to read/review.

While I found it a quite a light hearted book to read, I did enjoy it tremendously.

I did think that in this day and age at 22, the main character Lauren was slightly unrealistic to be portrayed as a little naive virgin, but that was how she was written into the story and she became like a fire rocket once introduced to a little action.

Chase was a dream, who

“What makes you so sure about that?”
“I see it in your eyes, Laurie.” He got up and closed the space between us.
Ready to sweep me off my feet.
Ready to drown me in the lust I was beginning to feel for his hard body.
Luckily, our booth was shielded from prying eyes.
“You’ll have to get used to your needs,” he whispered. “If you don’t listen to your body, your passion will make you unhappy, and I can’t afford that.”

The storyline just didn't match up to the prequel all that well. I'm sure it only because book 2 will tie everything up for us.

What I do know, Chase is the mystery guy from the elevator. The death she feels responsible for is her mother's. Her step father is an overall grade A a*s.

What I think I know... Her stepfather helped push her mother over the deep end. The step father was doing something illegal??

Question... Where does Chase fit in all this crazy stuff. Interesting read.... plan on fol

The storyline is really good, unique & interesting. The characters are also intriguing & likable, so the book itself had the makings of a 4 or 5 star read, for me. However, there seemed to be a lot of repetition in the dialog & the heroine was fighting her attraction just a little too hard without giving the reader much of a good enough reason why. So, unfortunately, I started skipping over parts of the book, which is an automatic 3 star, for me.
