A flashy and darkened supernatural novel with a fearless main character, Snow Globe is an excellent YA story with gritty urban undertones and eerie elements of magic and mayhem.

When I first heard about this book I thought that it sounded interesting. I read through some of the reviews and saw all the appealing feedback. I did not hesitate to request it. Unfortunately I didn't like the writing style.

The book begins with Aja waiting outside of the principle's office. The principle is having an a

I received this free eARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

This was a very engaging story that kept me on my toes throughout the whole novel. This is part contemporary/part paranormal book that I think will appeal to a wide range of readers.

I definitely feel for Aja (pronounced Asia). She has had the short stick her whole life and now everything is starting to crumble around her. She's in trouble with the authorities, though she didn't do anything wrong. She's in trouble with th

I received a copy via netgalley.

Cover is stunning, but what counts is the inside and let's just say it was less than pretty. The characters were harsh two dimensionally and so fake snarky that it was almost to unbearable to finish. Lots of loop holes, I wanted more from the whole psychic power that was brought up then dropped like a hot cake. It was only brought up a handful of times and only when it seemed the storyline couldn't get any duller. Mostly the main character Aja is get into trouble

Firstly let me start by saying I enjoyed Snow Globe. In fact I'd have enjoyed it even more so if I hadn't read the synopsis. I think that's the issue really with some books, you go into things expecting something and sometimes you don't get it due to a misunderstand, interpretation etc... You get the idea.

Aja is a teen who hasn't had many breaks. In fact if there was anyone who ever said the world was against them, then they should read Aja story. This girl literally gets kicked down time and ti

After reading Ms. Skartsiaris' first book, Surviving Life, I was eager to pick up Snow Globe. The cover and synopsis drew me in immediately. I love supernatural thrillers and Snow Globe certainly kept me on the edge of my seat.

I didn't connect with Aja immediately. I was very much a good girl growing up, teachers loved me, and I was never in trouble. However, I very much enjoyed her story, her free-spirited mother, and her relationship with the rest of the characters, especially those in the as

This story was pretty good. It was a feel good story for me. I wish there was more Paranormal elements in it but overall I enjoyed it. I would have loved the author to write much more about the psychic powers. But this is just my opinion. I loved the main character, Aja, and I enjoyed the her new friend Walker too. * I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review*

Snow Globe was one of the most thrilling novels I've read so far. I had goosebumps all the way from the beginning. I had a bit difficulty trying to figure out the genre. I know it says Fantasy and Supernatural, but those two aspects are more like accompanying aspects rather than significant ones. If you expect to read a story of a psychic girl who fights demons and ghosts and stuff like that, then you won't get what you're lookin

This book was sent to me by Barclay Publicity via NetGalley and I would like to give a thank you shout out to them for granting my wish! Book Review: Can one bad decision make ripples to send the whole Snow Globe, or Aja’s life into a whirlwind of trouble?

Snow Globe by Jeanne Skartsiaris is a young adult paranormal novel (sort of) set in Dallas, Texas. Aja (pronounced Asia) Harmon is eighteen years old and finishing up her senior year of high school. Her mother has moved her around every year of her academic career (which has made it rough on Aja). The principal and some of the teachers have made judgements of Aja based on her file, appearance, and her mother’s occupation as a psychic (she is the real deal). Aja decides if they think she is bad s ...more

Jeanne Skartsiaris has presented a wonderful gift to the reading world--Snow Globe, a Young Adult fiction book.

I bought the book to support this local author with no intention of reading it. Rather, I planned to gift it to one of my critique partners to read since she is also a Young Adult writer. But I read the first few pages just to check out Skartsiaris’ writing style and that was it. I was hooked. I inserted a bookmark in the “adult” fiction book I was reading at the time and continued with

Snow Globe had me on the edge of tears twice, first in horror of what was happening to young Aja and second at the heart touching conclusion.

Let me backup and start by saying Aja, although labeled as a juvenile delinquent, was a wonderful person whose heart and soul are pure and kind. The label of juvenile delinquent seemed to stem from a smart mouth and the tendency to skip school, nothing actually as serious as the teachers in the book made it seem.

The idea that Aja had some glimmer of sight

Asa is a sarcastic, smart and hard working girl who just can't seem to catch a break. Trouble follows her around like a tail, even when she has the best of intentions. She's been arrested for protesting with her hippie, psychic mom, has moved more times than she can count, is hanging on by a thread at both school and whichever job she can keep. Add to that teachers who aren't supportive but condescending, and a police officer with an evil soul stalking her, and you can imagine the helpless frus ...more

This book is truly one of the better ARC's I had read in a long time, from start to finish I pretty much was glued to these pages, goose bumps took up permanent residence on my arms. The cover alone is gorgeous, the colors are eye catching and just scream " PICK ME UP! READ. ME!" It seriously is a bonus for those who pick and choose based on the cover alone

I loved the main character Aja, who despite having had it pretty rough with life, has yet to give up. She will stand up for what she thinks

Snow Globe is a story of a troubled young woman who is trying to figure out her life and keep her job, all the while eluding her creepy stalker. A dark and serious tone is found throughout the novel as Aja Harmon lives in constant mistreatment from the school boards, the police and her boss. They all treat her like she is a no good juvenile delinquent, and in treating her as such makes it hard for her not to be a delinquent they call her.
There was a lot of serious topics in this novel, making

Aja Harmon is just trying to finish her senior year of high school, but Aja seems to attract trouble like a magnet. She and her psychic mother never stay in one place very long. Being the new girl isn't easy. She seems to be developing psychic powers of her own, but Aja just wants to be normal. Aja is extremely intelligent, but with her attendance or lack thereof, she is at risk of failing school. When Aja finds herself in the office, and decides to steal 40 dollars and run, her life is flipped ...more

This book was great from start to finish! I started it late at night after finishing another book, and thought I would just read a few chapters and go to bed. I stopped reading a little after 3AM when I finished the book!

The plot was great. It was fast paced and had me rooting for Aja from the very first page. I could not believe how much could pile onto one single person and for her not to completely crack under everything! This had me in tears two or three times from all of the rollercoaster

The beauty and mystique of Snow Globe's cover grabbed my attention and wouldn't let go so I decided to read it. I wasn't sure if this book was a good fit for me but I was taken by surprise and found I really enjoyed it!

I found Snow Globe to be at times humorous, sad, loving, engaging and the thriller/suspense part had me on "the edge of my seat". All in all, a very good story! Snow Globe also reminded me that it's best "not to judge a book by it's cover" and that people are not always who and w

Thank you to Barclay Publicity and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to review Snow Globe.
My heart went out to Aja. Growing up with a mother that tackles and pickets for any cause worthy to her, while taking her daughter along must not have been easy. It is no wonder that Aja has difficulties at school and does not really know how to deal with conflict and other people. I finished this book at o1:48 in the morning because I could not put it down. After reading Surviving Life, also by Jeanne Skartsiaris, I anxiously awaited Snow Globe. The cover is beautifully designed. I do not usually read supernatural young adult, but Snow Globe was a fun read.

Snow Globe manages to touch upon many mature subject matters - teen romance, bullying, theft, peer pressure, generational gaps, etc. and treats all subjects realistically and respectfully. There are plenty of interesting characters to keep everyone entertained. This book would make a great gift f

I really enjoyed this one. The author writes well and I enjoyed all the characters. Even Mrs. Poston! I liked that all of the characters had character. The romance level was just the right amount for me and the Jensens were adorable. The only (slight) flaw I found in it was that I was expecting the psychic theme to be a little stronger than it was. Snow Globe, Jeanne Skartsiaris. I have to say this is the best YA I have read this year! I love stories that test our own beliefs and stories that brings kids from everyday life to points where decisions must be made and what they learn from them. Add in a cop killer of teens and a retirement center, a good looking guy, and you have the perfect mix for a great book. A great read that deserves space on your shelf.

Full disclosure, I know the author. I probably would not have been aware of, much less read the book, otherwise. It was a quick read. I thought it well written. I invested in Aja (the main character) early on and read with both fear and hope as her story unfolded. I have satisfaction in having read the book and having "met" Aja. I continue to wish her the best.
