Normal Around Daniel

Rate this book
Fourteen-year-old Cady Timms accidentally discovers that her older brother has a secret - he has fathered a baby. He wants nothing to do with the child, and his ex-girlfriend has chosen to put the baby up for adoption, but Cady is not willing to let her secret nephew leave her life so easily. She feels that she has a strong connection to the baby, since they are related by blood. Through a chance encounter at the hospital, Cady meets her nephew's adoptive parents, and is hired to babysit him. But when her stepfather's live-in girlfriend faces the possible threat of breast cancer, the same disease that Cady lost her mother to, Cady realizes that it's love, not blood or legal papers, that make people a family, and that real parents are the people who care for and love a child, whether they are biologically related or not.
