What would happen if you were meant to die, but someone intervened?
Your very existence would disrupt the natural balance, effecting everyone you touch for the remainder of your unnatural life.
What if you met your soul mate? A man who was meant for you alone, but at the same time not because you should no longer exist?
This is what happens to Adara James when she crosses paths with Journey Montgomery, a man unknowingly shadowed by darkness.
This is no chance meeting between two human strangers, but a collision of souls whose continued proximity to one another has the potential to tear apart the world.

My attention was immediately caught by the blurb on the back cover. 'What would happen if you were meant to die, but someone intervened? Your very existence would disrupt the natural balance affecting everyone you touched for the remainder of your unnatural life.'
And herein unfolds the story of Adara James whom fate had marked to die before her guardian angel stepped in and changes the balance of nature. It sets off a chain of events. Because she lives, she's able to give strength and support her ailing twin sister thereby extending her life. Naturally, she is obsessed by angels and begins painting them capturing the attention of an art gallery owner. Through her pictures, he falls in love with her setting off another chain of events this time dealing with his destiny.
Ms. Pethtel weaves a thought provoking story of good versus evil with unexpected twists and turns. Though it dips into religious dogma, this is not a religious book. It is a romance and a captivating one at that.

On Wings of Darkness had believable characters that stayed true to form. The plot was tight with fun little twists, some that I saw coming and some that I didn't. Compared to other angel-related paranormal stories the concept wasn't unique. However,in places it had elements that gave it more depth. Although I found the ending a bit odd, it was creative and certainly unforeseeable. I wish a little more time was taken to clean up typos and errors, but that was a minor issue.

This was an entertaining read. Not bad, but not mind blowing either. The concept behind the story was unique. I liked how each person’s life, whether through their life or their death, could affect the world around them.
The book started off really well and I was drawn into this world of fallen angels. After that, it became kind of a rollercoaster ride. There were sections where I couldn’t put the book down and others where the excess narration really started to bug me.
I liked the character of Adara. A strong female lead, she retained that feminine vulnerability that made her relatable. Her need to protect her twin sister and her unshaking faith that they would find their happy ending carried through the entire story.
Adele’s character felt a bit shallower by comparison, but was a good counterpoint to Adara, proving identical twins aren't always identical in temperament. I would have liked to seen more character development from her, but still appreciated the role she played in the story.
I had a tough time connecting to Journey as the hero. His backstory was often times more interesting than his present story. I found it harder to suspend my disbelief for his actions and really had a tough time buying the seduction by the dark angel scene.
The paranormal elements were woven into the story well and I do think the story premise was a good one. Some tightening (less narration) and attention to the grammatical/typographical errors would have enticed me to give this a higher rating. Maybe the book just wasn’t for me. If you like worlds with Angels and strong Paranormal aspects, I would suggest you pick up a copy and make your own decision.

The story started out great. I liked the story line and captivated by the first chapters. There are parts where I got really hooked. But I gave two stars for the following reasons:
***Warning! May contain spoilers!***
The narration could go on and on. There are parts of the story where I wanted the characters to talk, not the narrator. Also, the multiple point of views made it hard to read.
Usually I fall in love with the male protagonist but with Journey, I really wanted to love his character but there's something missing in him. Sometimes he talks too much, or sometimes the narrator talks too much for him.
I also feel like the ending was rushed. Also, I love happy endings. But there is a danger in overdoing it. I prefer bittersweet than forcing a happy ending. Do angels really make out in heaven? Granted, this is a story and anything can happen. But I think angel stories should also be bound by rules. I wanted Adele and Elysian to end up together somehow yes, but do they have to become angels who make out in heaven?
There's also one thing that's bugging me... It's odd that Deja had a power to hypnotize Journey into doing something, like going back to sleep, and make him believe that their encounter was just a dream. So, over thousands of years of reincarnations, why hasn't she used her power to hypnotize him to make a baby with her? Granted, she doesn't have the power to force him to fall in love with her, but she had the power to hypnotize him into doing something.
Overall, not totally bad. Like I said there are parts that got me hooked. I just think the story had much more potential than how it was told.

What happens to the world when you cheat death? Adara James was meant to die at 7 years old, but Her Guardian Angel, Elysian, had other plans for her. Elysian changed Adara's fate, but changes always have repercussions. Eighteen years later, Adara is still alive, and still causing havoc with destiny and the natural order. Things go from bad to worse when she meets Journey Montgomery, a cute stranger, sat in the hospital waiting room. Journey and Adara are tied in a twisted love triangle that neither can fully understand. Their lives have the potential to cause disaster, can they avoid it?
I really enjoyed the overall story, I felt that the twists and turns were somewhat predictable but that didn't hinder my enjoyment. My only criticism was the last few chapters. I felt that these were slightly rushed and the ending was slightly abrupt.
The characters are well developed, each with their own past and issues. The relationship between Adara and Journey keeps the reader entertained and glued throughout.
The novel was well written, with good use of description. It was fast paced and could easily be devoured in one sitting.

This book was alright. Not good, not bad, just alright. There were parts that were really good! It made you want to keep reading it, and then there were parts where you just wanted to put the book down. The characters I feel weren't really developed all that well, they were just kinda thrown in there for the story. I really wanted to get to know them a bit better. The story line is a good one and I wish that she would have inserted more of it in the actual book so that it flowed better.
The ending sucked. Like really sucked. You know those kids books where your reading and its really good and then all of a sudden you see THE END. Yah that's what I think of this ending.
Of all of the angel books that I have read this one is fairly close to the bottom. It was to quick, wasn't developed enough, tons of grammatical errors and typos. But after you get through all of that still not a bad read.

This was a really nice read! Even though half the time I wanted to slap the characters or at least yell at them. Child Adara was kind of stupid and not very bright. She got lucky in the end. And she got wiser growing up and I liked her. Adele was the total opposite. And I had a really hard time liking her. Meaning, I didn't like her much. Journey. I had mixed feelings for him. At his first appearance I didn't trust him. Then I liked him. Then he disappointed me for not being strong enough to resist Deja seducing him through Adara's body. Then liked him a little again when he showed he'd do anything for Adara. I liked Elysian, most of the time. I liked the ending. It was cute. And everybody was happy. 3.5 stars.

I really enjoyed, On Wings of Darkness by Jolie Pethtel. It captured my attention from the first page and kept me intrigued throughout. The whole, Fallen Angel concept has always interested me, and this one had one of the worst fallen angel, of all. She's not only fallen but she's selfish and evil, all in the name of, supposed love. Reincarnated over, and over, she tries to win the heart of the man she loves, only to lose him, time and again, to a woman with a pure heart. Determined to get him this time, no matter what, she involves, not only Adara James, but her twin sister, as well. I was never quite sure what direction the plot was going and it kept me guessing right up until the end.

The story started out good, it kept me guessing it was all pretty interesting, also bonus hot angel. I liked Adara's character and how she took care of her sister. What started to turn me off the book was Journey, he wasn't my heart palpating male lead, basically he just didn't do it for me! I kinda wish there would have been more angel and less Journey. I also didn't like that the book was written with multiple first person narrators, I found it distracting and harder to get into. I think my 2 stars are fair I really didn't enjoy the book, I had to force myself to finish it.
I received this thru Lovers of Paranormal in exchange for my honest review. I was captured by the first few chapters and loved the plot. I really loved this book it kept me guessing right up to the last page. I love the stories about fallen angels and this one was different and unique. This fallen angel was evil and selfish and determined to win the heart of the man she was in love with. The plot get very interesting and I think this was an awesome read. Thanks again for letting me read and review.
