Steamy Sean!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙❤️💚💜
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌏🌍🌏🌎
Character development: 🙃😊😉🥰
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Solo Narration

The heroine: Nicki - she and her brother Nick grew up in a world of abuse and neglect. They were on the streets more often than not. Their mother owed a lot of money to local drug lords and offered up her children in exchange for her debt. Nick often took the brunt of the abuse in order to protect Nicki and for a time he had been sold to be used and abused by pedophiles but now that he looked older, he ran drugs and could no longer protect Nicki from being sold to men.

The Hero: Sean - ten years later in Pine Ridge Pennsylvania, Nick worked for Sean in the local auto shop. Sean is one of the Callaghan brothers who are all former seals and take on special ops contracts for the government. Sean owns the auto shop, while his some of his brothers worked at the local Irish pub owned by his brother Jake, he also had a brother that was a doctor at the local hospital. Sean also has a twin brother, Shane who owned a fitness center.

The Story: Nick was 24 years old and was arguably the best mechanic that Sean had, though he at times had an attitude problem and Sean was trying to do what he could to make sure Nick would turn into the man that Sean wanted him to be. Though recently Nick had been disappearing for an hour or more from time to time. Sean didn’t complain because Nick always stayed late nearly every day, but he worried about the kid and wanted to get the kid up to the next level.

When Sean showed up late one night to check on a Benz that Nick was working on, he found Nick had a guest in the shop, his sister Nicky. She ignored Sean and was wearing spiked heels, had a voluptuous body in leather pants and a leather corset with a killer back tattoo of a fallen angel. Sean was attracted immediately. He thought he was in some sort of dream or fantasy.

I liked the romance between Nicky and Sean. Though Nicky was a bit hard due to her background, she was pretty cool. She was a stripper and a mechanic. She rode her own custom-made motorcycle, but she was just a girl who wanted to be loved, wanted a home and a family. Sean, like his brothers, fell hard and fast and knew from the start that she was the one and he wanted forever.

4.5 Can't Get Enough Stars!!

description

I have to say, 4 books in and I somehow just keep falling more in love with the Callaghan Brothers Series!

Thank you Ms. Zanders for returning to your original recipe for an awesome heroine!. After reading House Calls and feeling very frustrated at times with Maggie I went into Seeking Vengeance fearing I would also have a love/hate relationship with Nicki but I am so glad to say, this was not the case. I loved her character!.

Nicki had suffered through a horrifying and traumatic childhood and whilst she definitely bore the scars of her suffering she still managed to retain an innocence and sweetness. The face she presented to the world was completely different to the personality that lived below the surface. She was such an intriguing character, from the outset you knew there was so much more to her and I craved to know what her actual story was.

From the moment she appeared from under a car in his workshop, Sean Callaghan knew immediately he had found his croie and just like his brothers before him, quickly realised it was futile to fight it. Intuitively he knew that Nicki would not be quite as accepting of their connection but her resistance only fuelled his desire. Sean like all the Callaghan boys was the perfect alpha-hero his carnal protective, possessiveness matched with a tender heart and a fierce love made him perfect.

The relationships between the characters in this series are woven beautifully, there is such a heavy emphasis placed on the importance of family and the fact that it is not always blood that bonds us together. I especially enjoyed Sean's interactions with Maggie, as I have said before she didn't completely win me over in House Calls but seeing more of her tender nurturing side in this book made her more endearing to me.

Seeking Vengeance was quite an addictive little read. Apart from the thigh tingling romance there was also heart pumping action, gripping shocks and twists all while taking you on a roller coaster ride of emotions. It will have you hooked from the very first page.

Callghan Brothers really is a series that should be added to your TBR list ASAP!

Now this is what I'm talking about! A hot, strong alpha male (Sean), a totally kick-ass stand up for herself h and you have a winner. What a brilliant story. Thank you Ms Zanders for giving us a heroine that took no crap, stood up for herself and had not ridiculous TSTL moves.

Loved it!

Seeking Vengeance is book four of Abbie Zanders series Callaghan Brothers. This story touches on the horrors and survival of Child sex trafficking and drug use. As with all of Ms. Zanders books that deal with sensitive issues, it is done in good taste and not graphically written about. Having said that as a reader you still will come away with the horrors that the heroine, Nicki Milligan and her twin brother Nick lived through.

Garage owner and ex-Seal Sean Callaghan knew that he would probably never find his soul mate as his brothers Jake, Ian and Michael had. He knew that for him no ordinary woman would do it for him. When he encounters Nicki Milligan in his garage, it is lust at first sight. Nicki knows all about monsters. She lives with them. Fights them every day. She doesn’t have time for distractions, especially not the incredibly hot alpha-male who seems to have taken an interest and knows just how to push her buttons. In coming to Pine Ridge, she hopes to finally fulfill a childhood vow she made to her twin brother years earlier. Because no child should have to endure what they did. She does not believe in wishes, she does not believe in happy ever after what she does believe is vengeance and ending the life of their childhood monster. No fairy tale princess stories for her, life has taught her those very hard lessons in spades. Now Sean might have to face the toughest job in his life, to convince his soul mate that they were made for each other.

I like this book very much and recommend it as a very good romance read. But for me, Nicki was more dominate and hard than I like for my romance heroines, that is why I gave this only 4 stars. Sensual level I would rate a 7.

Now this is the potential I saw in this series and my reward for sticking with these books after the disaster that was Maggie in book 2 . Sean was BBF material, sexy, badass alpha hero who was all in for his h. Nicki however was the reason for my enjoyment of this book, after enduring a horrific childhood she turned into the confident ,strong, badass h that I always hope for in a book. The chemistry was perfection, the side characters were perfection, the plot, pace and flow were perfection. Basically I loved it! Maggie's scene with the delivery may be the only thing that irked me in this novel 😂. Moving on to hopefully another hit in this series.

Still awesome, but not my favourite of the bunch. I kind of wish it had been a touch less mysterious, and a touch more fleshed out. Next up, OMG!

I love this series. The swoony Callaghan brothers are a bit of an addiction for me and Sean is no exception.

“You... don’t... own... me,” she breathed.
... “Yes,” he said, his voice deep and low. “I do. Just as you own me.”

Nicki Milligan’s story is at times hard to read with some possible triggers. I was rooting for this awesome heroine to find her HEA!

Enjoyable. Last good book in Series! Read on KU

***Update to my original review after finishing the series ****
It's now been 2.5 weeks since I've read this and, while some of the details blur, I have a general sense of the book instead of details. I remember it at being hotter than I described below. There was definitely a hot scene in the strip club where she works. However, all the steamy scenes in the entire series could have slowed down a bit.

Nicki is the most bada$$ of all the women. I really liked her.

Slight spoiler but you should have caught on if you have read this far, every single book ends with the MCs engaged or married. This really isn't surprising as most romance books do.

As my headline noted, this is the last good book for the Callaghan brothers. I didn't read Aidan's or their dad's books. Books 5 and 7 are boring beyond belief. There is almost no couple time. Both men propose after a lag in their relationship. Especially in book 7. The proposal comes out of left field. It's like you had two dates with someone, they ghost you for a bit, then come back and propose. Another spoiler but it is a trigger warning. Book 6 is ruined by rape. The FMC is kidnapped at 54% and the MCs are never alone again. She is raped repeatedly during that time. That's not romance.

I will not be reading more books by this author. The majority of them lack substance and I really tired of the 3rd person POV. In romances, that creates a situation where the author does far more telling than showing unless the author is extremely good at it and I would not say Ms. Zanders is.

Finally one comment to a few of the reviews - Jake and Ian used to have threesome with a girl who wanted it that way. Nothing about that makes them not honorable men. If it was consensual, which it was, get over it. It might not be your thing but it doesn't mean they have no honor. It did NOT happen in any of the books and is only briefly mentioned in books 1 and 2. Get over it. That shouldn't still be in a review for book 4. This book isn't even about Jake or Ian. Even if it is mentioned in this book, it has nothing to do with how good this book is.

****** Original Review ***

This book was enjoyable but could have been more. It certainly moved faster than the previous book. There was still only a small amount of time of them being a couple. Probably the least amount of couple time than any book other than Ian's (so far) and he at least spent more time with Lexi than Sean did with Nicki. Well, I guess they spent more time together but the amount of it we read in detail was less.

Sean and Lexi don't hook up until after the half way mark. I don't know that I would call it a slow burn, though, because they did spend so little time together. Perhaps, to them, it could have seemed that way, but the reader didn't spend much time with them together to that point.

I liked the addition of Nick, her twin brother. I did not like them being named Nick and Nicki. I tend to speed read and with one letter different between the two, I frequently was backing up to see which one was in that sentence.

There was absolutely no page time with Nicki and the previous FMCs. Nicki tells us about them from her perspective in the epilogue. There is barely any time with her and any of his brothers in the same scene. Both of those things were disappointing.

The epilogue could have been fleshed out a lot. Over all, the book was missing a spark to make it great.

The steamy scenes were the least interesting yet. They aren't all fade to black but they are heavily condensed. I absolutely would not call this a hot read beyond one scene. The brothers are hot but the series has not been.

The Calllaghan family will keep me reading but I don't know that I will read more by this author after this series. There just isn't that much substance to the books. And they are definitely cookie cutter stories.

Ask and you shall receive...

Dear Author, thank you for reading my previous reviews and giving me what I asked for. Attempt at protected sex, a smart heroine with no medical issues and a hero who could still use his brain while trying to catch his soul mate (can't remember the spelling of the Irish word - croix, croie...something like that).

This was my favourite in the Callaghan Brothers series. A twin falls for a twin, love that. Sean is the mechanic in the family and one of his employees has a sister Nicki. There is an instant attraction and lots of drama to follow.

There was a very dark side to this story and may be a trigger to some readers. Nicki had a very hard upbringing with a drug addicted Mum who sold her to her pimp at 14. The details were given vaguely, but more implied. There was on violent scene that surprised me, but was kind of understandable. The storyline had some darkness, but not enough to make me uncomfortable.

This was another steamy, action packed installment to the series and I will definitely be reading them all.

This made for a fast paced read and had a good balance of action and romance. The story flowed really well and the characters were likeable. I really enjoyed the heroine being a badass. This was my first book to read in this series and since I liked it, and some of the previous characters showed up in this book, I think I'll go back and check out some of the previous books at some point. Each can be read as a stand-alone (I do believe) though because even though this was book 4 in this series, and I hadn’t read any of the earlier books, I never felt as if I were missing anything of importance. Ill definitely check out more of this writers work.

Perfect Match!
Nicki and Sean couldn’t be a more perfect match. They are both tough and sexy and Sean knows that she is the one he wants as soon as he meets her. Nicki on the other hand takes longer to convince. No child should have to go through what Nicki and her brother went through and my heart went out to both of them. This was a heart wrenching story with some edge of your seat suspense. Aiden Snow always brings the characters to life with his wonderful narration and makes listening so enjoyable. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Another winner

Darker and more emotional than the first three. This author has so many writing styles and just keeps those winners coming. This book has triggers so do your research if certain storylines bother you. Mistreatment of children is the back story and hard to take. So glad there is a HEA. Now for Kane

Nicki has come back into her twin brother’s life to secretly make good on her promise and avenge their traumatic past. Though she never accounted for her brother’s hard ass boss and all his intensity. The last thing Sean expected was to find his lead mechanic’s twin working in his garage, never mind being groped by her. Before he knows it Sean is a goner and Nicki won’t even know what hit her.

This is my first book from this series and author and well it was good but definitely could have been better. I appreciated what a kickass heroine Nicki was, she wasn’t afraid to stand up to Sean but I just wished she wasn’t such a horny mess around him half the time. Sean kinda dragged my rating for this book down for me. He was just too overbearing? The thing that stumped me was when .

The romance was meh, too much insta-lust and their relationship felt underdeveloped for me. I wish there was suspense in this book regarding Nicki’s goal but it was more of readers waiting and anticipating her revenge which was very short lived anyway. Disappointed we didn't read more of Nicki being a kickass.

This one totally took me by surprise. When it starts out (be warned, it's not a pleasant story to begin with and deals with child exploitation), this seemed like it was going to be a book about the hero coming to the rescue of the scared heroine. But that is not at all what happens. Nicki is one fierce and strong young woman. I can't say that I'd be as strong as she is given what she went through, but she totally kicked butt and took names.

Then there's Sean. Holy Hotness Batman! That man completely personified a dominant alpha male in all ways that were good. And when he and Nicki got together, it was insanely hot.

So Nicki and her twin brother Nick (who is a mechanic at Sean's garage) go through some terrible things as kids, and that's putting it mildly. She vows to kill the guy who hurt them and now she's in Pine Ridge trying to find that guy. When Sean finds her working under a car in his garage, he wants her immediately. I mean she's wearing stiletto boots and leather, so what guy wouldn't find that sexy? But then he finds out that she works at the local strip club and he goes to keep an eye on her that night since her brother is worried about her. Let's just say that things get a little too hot in the club that night and it kicks off what will be a steamy and whirlwind romance.

Two-thirds of the way through the book, we get quite the surprise. Just when I thought I knew where the plot was going, BAM, we're whopped in the head with a shocker. And now I respect Nicki even more ... she's my new favorite heroine.

The epilogue was absolutely perfect and I loved the dynamic of Nicki and Sean's relationship, as well as her camaraderie with the Callaghan family. This has really been a great series and I look forward to reading more.

Of the books on this series so far, this one is the best.

The female lead is seriously kick-ass. Probably the most damaged of all the FLs in this series, she's also the strongest and most fierce. That's a nice change up from the weird, oppositionally defiant virginal ladies from the last couple of books. This FL doesn't exhibit some bizarre mental health challenged behaviors that require her to say and do the exact opposite of what the male lead says, especially if it involves life or death situations. What a frigging relief.

The action was pretty welcome, too. And that it focused on the FL was also cool. This series talks at length about how bad-ass the Callaghan brothers are with their secret squirrel black ops org, but nothing ever appears in text to show that.

The sex was kinda meh. Not much happened there. I'm sure many who prefer less sex were happy, but this reader likes the deets. Just me.

The male lead is pretty good. However I don't get the totally weird deal with unprotected sex and studious effort to impregnate the FL upon even first contact. I get the romance trope, I just hate it. Super caveman, but in the most objectionable way possible. And his determination to keep her from hitting a drug store for a Plan B is so super patriarchal that I almost stopped reading. That behavior fits in waaaay too closely with current politics/cultural media screeched toxic crap these days. I question this author's intentions with this recurring trope. I've not seen it in such a blatant way in just about any other romance books, most genres included, except maybe for omegaverse. And that's totally not my thing. Not yucking anyone's yum.

Overall, this was a fairly good read that could have been better.

3.5 stars because I did enjoy it.
For me there is a very firm line between a hot overprotective alpha, and a bully, though the difference is sometimes a small thing that might not upset anyone else but rubs me up the wrong way. AZ skirted really close to bully at the start of this story, I am very protective of exotic dancers, their lot in life is hard and they often get labeled horribly for no other reason than that they are doing something that society has decided is shady. I disagree, I think for whatever reason they are out there, every one of them deserve the same respect any working woman deserves, regardless.

>Book review – Seeking Vengeance

>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the fourth in the Callaghan Brothers series and ends in an HEA. Sean owns the garage and takes a chance hiring a young punk with mad mechanic skills. Nikki is the twin of the punk and at first she seems way too hard for anyone to root for. Her first interaction with Sean has her collapsing as soon as she is alone, showing the reader that all in not what it seems.

>Sean never had a big part in any of the previous books, so his ultra alpha-ness was very cool. The description of his face looking at Nikki in the strip club was phenomenal. Nikki never reverts to a helpless person and actually gets the best of Sean more than once. The backstory of Nikki and her brother was brutal, but necessary in order to show how Nikki became what she did.

>This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this story 5 stars. Maggie takes a large part of this story as Sean's sounding board and a food source for all.

Dark romance

Sean runs Callaghan Auto in addition to moonlighting with his brothers on black ops. Having seen three of his brothers find their soul mates he believes but not really until he meets Nicki twin sister of his best mechanic. When he finds out she's an even better mechanic and dancing at the local gentleman's club, he conspires to get her to work at the garage. His plan succeeds while also backfiring as the other male mechanics are so distracted by her they're not working. Not to mention Sean's sexual frustration as she denies him while working with her every day. When they finally hook up, he thinks they're on the road to forever but Nicki has her own agenda. Nicki avenges her and her brother's dark past then goes disappears. It takes all the resources of the Callaghans to find her. Nicki is not only strong enough to be a Callaghan croie but she can keep up with the guys on ops. Steamy romance and more.

Warning, there are triggers in this story: pedophilia, child sex trafficking and drug use.

Seeking Vengeance is a fantastic contemporary romance by Abbie Zanders. I can't seem to put this author's books down once I start them. Ms. Zanders has once again impressed me with her storytelling abilities. This book is well-written with a stellar cast of characters. Nicki is in town because her mother is dying and to visit her brother. She has another agenda that she doesn't want anyone to know about. Sean is the owner of a garage and is stunned when Nicki climbs out from under a car her brother is supposed to be working on. Sean and Nicki's story is packed with drama, humor, sexy bits, action and suspense. I loved every page of this book and can't wait to start my next book by Abbie Zanders. Seeking Vengeance is book 4 of the Callaghan Brothers Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a standalone.

I read a print copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

4.5 Stars for this enthralling story. To be honest, I wasn’t sure I was gong to continue with the series, as the previous plots were too similar. This one gets back to the romantic suspense genre, which is my fav.
Sean and Nicki’s relationship starts out with a lot of sexual tension. They share such a sensual scene at Angels. Their relationship doesn’t follow the normal path, which was a plus. There is much more to these two than meets the eyes. They are very similar— both are twins, mechanics, stubborn, highly sexual, and can use their bodies as lethal weapons. Expect a couple of twist. Nicki certainly get her revenge!
As with the other books, family is essential. I wasn’t a fan of Maggie’s but after this book, I am. She takes the unofficial “Mother” role for the
Callaghan clan.
I still say the author needs to research HIPAA regulations, as Dr. Michael doesn’t follow patient confidentiality laws. There is an important public service message at the end of the book.
